WOW! I'm impressed! I'm tired just watching them!

I saw Derek in person on the Dancing with the Stars tour back in January. There are no words to describe how fast that boy's feet can move. He and Mark Ballas absolutely blew me away in person. Unfortunately Julianne wasn't on for the whole tour; she and Helio Castroneves (her celebrity partner in the 5th season) had already left it by the time they got to Virginia.

Can you believe she just had surgery, like, a week ago?

I know! She had a harder time than just her appendix being removed. Apparently she had a cyst on one of her ovaries too that they removed, as well as scar tissue from her appendix that was somehow attaching itself to her hip. :headache: I'm glad she's okay.

Welcome home Loco! We missed you. I'm glad you just got grounded for awhile and not booted entirely.

i'm sure this is non-pc, but if i'm white, why can't somebody be black? not all black people are from africa (the continent! HA HA!!), so "african american" never made sense to me...seemed inaccurate. nobody calls me a european/british american, they call me white. sometimes they call me other stuff, but that's while i'm driving and it goes along with sign language.

:rotfl2: And apparently you and I are related, and have the same mother and lack of father.

What is this 'keeping on topic' you speak of?

"Topic?" We have a TOPIC? Who knew.

So I enrolled my kids in Tae Kwon Do. So far they love it. My husband thinks I'm nuts. He says they are going to beat the h*** out of each other and it's all going to be my fault. :rotfl2: Just in case anybody wondered what was up at my house. ;)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: oh, I'm an old Republican myself - I'm just glad I didn't get carded! [although I think I might have outed myself when I started talking about Clinton winning in 1992 - most of those there would have been 10!]

I'd just like to add that I was 3... but I'm a Rush baby, through and through! I think he started printing the Limbaugh Letter in 1994, and my mom has 5 year old me on videotape- when she'd point to the cover and ask who that was, I'd go, "Rush LIMBAUGH!" :rotfl:

Btw, when I have to fill out forms for whatever and they ask my ethnicity, I like to ask the person administering the forms where Caucasia is. Most laugh, but some seriously say they have no clue, and I then inform them that it's the other name for the sunken isle of Atlantis.

Wow - scary video.

I was 12. :rolleyes1
I was 22. Thanks for making me feel old, guys.

I have an MRI today and I'm a little nervous for it. If you don't mind, would you say a prayer for me that it all goes okay? They are knocking me out for it. This will be my fourth one and it's so hard for me to sit still for an hour and a half. Hopefully the sedation will make it a lot easier for me.

Thanks!!

See you all later! :)

Hey all! I'm on self-imposed limited time online. I've been neglecting too much of real life - so sorry I'm not responding to every post.

DEB: GOOD FOR YOU FOR GOING TO YOUNG REPUBLICANS. We have to make inroads. I attend our county republican meeting -- I am the youngest by at least 2 decades (and I'm 40) :rotfl2: We really need to invigorate the younger crowd.

Just sat down and read the new American Spectator issue. They are praising Palin in numerous articles. Over the past few days - I'm getting the feeling that Sarah is going to be strongly pushed in 2012. Glenn Beck was hammering the beating she took by the MSM and how absolutely ridiculous it was.

Gotta run for now.

Okay, you have all given me the same views that all Christians (I choose to call them hypocrites) have given me. I have only posted on this thread, I think 3 times. I am relatively new to this. I have only looked at this and the thread before this. I did not mean to hurt anyones feelings. I was just trying to give my views on this. And I have been attacked on this board and on private messages. Kinda like a high school clique. I give up. This proves that the conservative right-wing of the Republican is a party of intolerance. I pity all of you. Someday you will be judged by the big guy. And it will not be pretty. Your hatred speaks volumns from a women that was trying to reach out for understanding and got made to feel like an outsider from the most of you. Have a nice evening:confused3

Sarasotamom, I'm sorry your family is going through tough times but there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. Much like their minds, peoples' eyes can be opened. I've seen it happen first hand.

I came from the same background as you, just throw in career military! My upbringing falls into the uber-conservative Republican take-no-prisoners category. And you're right, there is a huge amount of homophobia and hatred in this country even today, in the 21st century. It baffles me.

You are very, very encouraged to come over to the GLBT board of the DIS and post your thoughts over there. You'll find all the support and hugs you need so join us! Here's a link: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=112

More doses of reality from the Obama camp came yesterday in the form of new "rules" concerning the hiring of Lobbyists. Perhaps you read that Obama is making it harder on Lobbyists... or perhaps you read that it wasn't quite the case. You could have read both statements, depending on what paper you were reading. The WaPo's Ben Purshing noted:
The Obama transition team, meanwhile, unveiled new rules yesterday on hiring lobbyists that are different than any previous administration's. But is this a change you can believe in?

Forgive the mocking of campaign rhetoric, but get used to it, because John Podesta's explanation yesterday of how 44 will and won't go about putting lobbyists on the team was an instructive first example of how Obama will reconcile his promises with reality, and how the press will cover it. Just looking at the headlines, maybe the new policy "Restricts Lobbyists’ Role," (NYT) and "Keep Its Distance From Lobbyists." (WaPo) Or perhaps "Obama Softens Ban on Hiring Lobbyists," (Boston Globe) and is thus "Looking More Like a Realist." (LAT)

Those lobbyist restrictions may also apply, in some form or another, to the Inauguration and associated festivities. But Obama et al haven't yet said how those rules will work, and it would be interesting to see whether there are enough non-lobbyist rich people out there who would be willing to pay thousands of dollars per ticket to sit at an Inaugural Ball, eat a bad dinner and wait for the Obamas to stop by for 5 minutes. That routine, at least, is unlikely to change.

Also unlikely to change, at least this week, is the Cabinet, as Obama's team doesn't plan to announce anyone until next week at the earliest, with most major names more likely to come in December. Bill Richardson is getting a boost for Secretary of State courtesy of Latino advocacy groups, who pointedly note that their voters were key to Obama's victory. On the other hand, maybe "Obama faces less pressure for [a] diverse Cabinet." Just as long as they're not lobbyists ...

QUOTE]

That reminds me of when my son was little. He was only about 18 months old, maybe 2 years. Very young. He woke up not feeling well so I sat him on the couch by me while I watched Bill O'Reilly. He sees Bill on the TV and starts throwing a mini tantrum, kicking his legs, and crying. I asked him what was wrong and his answer was (he emphasized each work with a kick of his little leg) "can't. like. 'Rilley. Factor!" That was hysterical. I couldn't believe he knew the name of that show at such a young age.

Now he's 10 and everyday when I pick him up from school he gets in the car and groans "do we have to listen to Sean Hannity?" LOL If any of my kids are going to end up a Democrat, it's him.

Oh, and I was 18 in 1992. It was my first election. I will not say who I voted for, though. I plead the Fifth. :rolleyes1

So much for "pre-conditions"... During the campaign Obama backpedaled away from his earlier comments about meeting with hostile governments without pre-conditions. In the case of Hamas it was said that the Obama administration would only meet with them if "it renounces terrorism, recognizes Israel's right to exist and agrees to abide by past agreements". Well, it looks like that was a bit of an "un-truth". In a British Arabic language newspaper, Dr. Ahmad Yousef, a political adviser to the prime minister of the Hamas-led Palestinian government has said that Obama advisers held a secret meeting with Hamas officials in Gaza before the election and the two groups they remained in contact since. "We were in contact with a number of Obama's aides through the Internet, and later met with some of them in Gaza, but they advised us not to reveal this information as it may influence the elections or become manipulated by McCain's campaign"

Hi all, haven't been on the boards for a few days.

What happened with AgentPeakly? (sp?) Anyone hear?

That was horrible. What got me was at the very last second, the male news anchor said that there was "obviously a lot of hate going on on both sides". I didn't see the woman say or do anything hateful. The only hate was from the protestors.

That was EXACTLY my reaction. So, walking with a cross in your arms silently is now considered HATE?? give me a break!!

I'm so glad video captured this. It demonstrates what I've said all along..........they want every one to be tolerant.........that means every one be tolerant of THEM, they dont' have to be tolerant of someone who disagrees. No, chuck that out the window. We are not even allowed to peacefully protest, nope, just them. What a crock!

 Prayers said. I am with you on needing the sedation for these tests! I had a cat scan a few months ago and so wish I had taken something to calm me. And I am normally very calm for procedures, just don't fence me in!
I hope you get good results!

Self imposed computer time! I am so with you on that. I give my husband the cord to my laptop to take to work. That gives me 2 hours! I was on much longer than that, sadly.:sad2:

Haha, that's hilarious! You better believe my mom listens to whatever conservative radio talk show host is on anytime she's in the car. My siblings, from the 5 year old to the 15 year old, all know them far too well.

"A lot of hate going on on both sides." Seriously, WTH? :confused3
How is the old lady hating on anyone? Those opponents of Prop 8 need to have a big ol' cup of Get Over It. Their intolerance, including trampling on the cross, is horrifying and sad.

I was 25!

I'll be praying for you. I get them every year to check on the cyst on my pituitary gland to make sure it doesn't grow. I know it is uncomfortable so I hope they can sedate you where it is easier on you.

Praying for you, Meghan.

Sarasotamom and anyone else for that matter.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I haven't read this thread in a few days, can't even think about going back and reading. It would take me way too long. So, I have no idea what happened and certainly don't know anything about any emails. I don't want to get a whole thing going here but...........

I don't hate anyone. It might be hard for some to believe but I can disagree whole heartedly with someone and not hate them. You disagree with me, do you hate me? That's the arguement you are using.

Yes, I'm a christian. Yes, I have certain beliefs. I am not homophobic. I don't think one should drink and drive, does that mean I am alchophobic? Because someone disagrees with a lifestyle, that means they are afraid of that person/lifestyle? Gee, I guess my family shouldn't have invited my BIL's brother and his SO to my niece's wedding cause we are so scared of them. Who knew? I just thought sharing a nice memory and a glass of wine, maybe a dance, would be nice. We treated them the same as any other relative/friend at the wedding ..........is that the hypocrisy I'm supposed to see?

Just because I disagree doesn't mean anything except that I disagree! And because I'm a christian, does that make me,or any other christian perfect? Yea, I'm a hypocrite every time I say I want to be self-controlled with God's help and I eat a whopper with cheese and fries for lunch. But does that make me a terrible person that you would hate me? I struggle just like anyone, I try to be a loving, caring person every day that I wake up but it is a struggle since I'm not like Jesus yet? Can you show me some grace and not hate me for not being perfect yet?

I would feel free to have a cup of coffee with you if you lived nearby. I only ask that I am free to have an opinion and freedom to vote as I please and maybe I might want to protest peacefully sometime. I will never call you names, disrespect you as a person or raise my children to hate you.

Now, if all of this makes you hate me, or become phobic of me, I guess I can't help that. But nothing you could do or say will make me hate you. There are those blasted christian beliefs again.
