GWB is not the only gracious one....

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice tells Usmagazine.com Michelle Obama "will be great" as First Lady.

"She's got a sense of style, and she's obviously a committed person," she told Us Monday at Glamour's Women of the Year awards in NYC. "She's very smart, and it'll be great to have kids in the White House!"

See photos of famous first children.

Her fashion advice for Michelle?

"Well, she's terrific. She looks wonderful in everything that she wears," Rice told Us. "I know she'll do what I believe - which is to wear things you feel good in. Things that are yours, not something that someone gave you."

"Also," Rice added, "it's okay to wear red once in a while."

-wish I could be as gracious....

Tonight I went to my first Young Republicans meeting - it was cool...

Cool...:thumbsup2

He mentioned a Chip something or other as chairman of the RNC and said he would be great - it's good to know of the many who are out there.

Saw something online about this today...

"The movement to draft Chip Saltsman for RNC Chairman got a huge boost today by former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. Senator Frist has first hand experience with Chip Saltsman, who was a Frist adviser for a number of years and tremendously impressed Frist as Tennessee’s Republican Party Chairman.

Also helping Saltsman are his own credentials. This guy is really phenomenal and even his adversaries won’t be able to suggest that Saltsman won’t have an impact on the negative direction our party has been headed in. The guy is one of the most proven and effective “behind the scenes” leaders in the Republican Party and if he had the resources of the entire NRC at his disposal, there’s no telling how bad he’s going to be able to humiliate the Democrats."

Anyway, it was encouraging... we can do this!!!!

Yes we can! (Sorry, couldn't resist...:rotfl2: )

Hi everyone.:) Just checking in, we just got home tonight from our WDW trip, we had a great time and we're all completely exhausted!! I'm going to try and catch up a bit. MK was all decorated for Christmas and we had a blast, November is a great time to visit.

I'm glad you had such a good trip. I look forward to hearing about it...once you're rested up! :)

I spoke to the head of the YR club - she talked about their various service projects in the community as a way of networking with organizations and letting everyone see that Repubs aren't the bad guys in all this. This is what happened in our city council race -- a Repub ran against a union Dem in the very liberal Memphis and WON!!!!! Due in part to the relationships made by the candidate...

Anyway, it was encouraging... we can do this!!!!

Very interesting, Debbie, thanks. Are the Young Republicans in every state? I've heard of College Republicans obviously, but never Young Republicans. I need to look into this.

And yup, the Chip he was referring to is Chip Saltsman.

I read about this the other day, and I was not pleased. I don't like the idea of Saltsman at all. Why? He was Huckabee's campaign manager this year. I don't like the idea of someone who essentially was running a certain candidate's campaign heading the RNC at this crucial time. We don't know if Huckabee will want to run in 2012 or not yet. Putting his c.m. in there gives him an unfair advantage, IMO, if he decides to run. And I would say the same if Romney, Giuliani, or anyone else's campaign manager tried to run for the head of the RNC.

I think Steele is probably our best bet now. He can clearly articulate our message, and in a positive way. He already has a bit of a national media presence. So at least this time, people wouldn't be saying "Uh, who's the head of the RNC, again?" Sadly most people couldn't name the current head (Mike Duncan) if their life depended on it. :sad2:

I don't remember if anyone I know personally has used the term "colored", but I didn't realize it was considered racist. I just thought it was outdated, like Negro, and people preferred African American. Although apparently it's again acceptable to use the term "black".:confused3

i'm sure this is non-pc, but if i'm white, why can't somebody be black? not all black people are from africa (the continent! HA HA!!), so "african american" never made sense to me...seemed inaccurate. nobody calls me a european/british american, they call me white. sometimes they call me other stuff, but that's while i'm driving and it goes along with sign language.

What's this say about the GOP What about another campaign for McCain, who will be 76 years old in 2012?

"I wouldn't think so," McCain told Leno, with a hint of resignation in his voice. "We are going to have another generation of leaders come along."
See, this kind of makes me a little sad for him. He gave more to this country than most of us will ever give and he's repaid by 52% who would rather have a president whose motto is "ask not what you can do for your country but what your country is obligated to do for you". :sad2:

Should I welcome you home? :lmao:

I think Steele would be very good also.:thumbsup2 I saw this at the same place...

"Michael Steele has the metal to withstand the beating.

He made his choice when he declared himself a Republican, became a Republican county chair in Maryland, state Republican chair in Maryland, Lt. Gov. in Maryland, Senatorial candidate in Maryland, spoke at two RNC conventions in a row, and accepted the chairmanship of GOPAC, and agreed to go on TV and defend the Republican party, and conservative positions."

Didn't I say essentially the same thing earlier? :rotfl:

It makes me sad, too...:sad1:

I think Michael Steele would be a good fit as the RNC head. Now that Dean is stepping down as head of the DNC, I wonder who is jockeying for that position. Perhaps Bill Clinton. :teeth:

Didn't I hear, they actually "found" and COUNTED 32 votes.....that were found in the trunk of a car?:scared1:

**edited to add** Welcome back Loco!!

seriously? and they have to have a judge decide whether or not to count overseas military absentee ballots in virginia? [heavy sigh].

yes...that's what i get for checking the end of the thread instead of where i left off earlier today. although i think you have a substantially more interesting lineage!
I just thought it was funny that we said the same thing. :lmao:
