Hey, did anyone see what's happened with Berg's case in the U.S. Supreme Court? He was denied a delay of the election, obviously, but the case wasn't thrown out! Souter is giving Obama and the rest of the gang until December 1st to respond. :scratchin

http://www.obamacrimes.com/index.php/news/50-justice-souter-denies-injunction-for-stay-of-presdidential-election#comments

Can a brighter legal mind than mine figure out what this means? Does it mean he has to provide a vault BC, or that he can simply say Berg has no standing?

I'm just currently stunned the whole shebang wasn't tossed out.

My 2 cents. He wasn't ordered to produce his birth certificate. He was directed to file a response to the writ of cert. Since the lower court dismissed the case due to lack of standing, the standing issue will be the focus of the cert application. His team will respond to that issue citing the same cases as they did in the lower court. I see nothing becoming of this. Cert will be denied, IMHO.

And that might also be a great use for this thread - encouraging each other to a call for action - keeping each other aware of what's going down in the House and Senate - kinda like we did with the online polls after each debate.

Lots of work! I'm glad our [hope-they-]do-nothing house/senate isn't in session all year 'round!

Most definitely!!!! We must not be silent -- we must organize and spread the word. We must not be initimidate with the thug-like tactics of the PTS.

Sorry, with '95's most recent post, my estimation of Bobby Jindal just dwindled a bit.....

I know what you are saying.

EXACTLY! I choke every time I read the title of that thread (not slamming the OP, seriously) because there is no such thing as mandatory volunteerism! Just putting those two words together should send up big huge red flashing warning signs! "Mandatory" and "voluntary" are mutually exclusive terms! You are right: what it actually is, is involuntary (or indentured, for the price of tuition, in the college scenario) servitude, but they can't use those words because then people might actually catch on to what he is trying to pull over on them! :sad2:

Actually we didn't. Thanks for your insight, though. It is interesting to hear. Would you support him?

Glad you posted this. Mandatory and voluntary in the same sentence - - hardly likely

I should know better from now on not to venture from my safe haven home here on this thread...:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Now they're over there making fun of Joe the Plumber saying why was he on welfare twice if he doesn't want handouts. Sigh. Can't they just let things go? I mean really, does Joe the Plumber really have any impact on anything these days? It's not like he's running for any sort of office... :confused3

The PTS are absolutely sore winners, such of which I have never seen. They will not let it rest both here and IRL. Stand up - do not be intimidated.

uh...is it Soarin08?

Not entirely sure.

Bobby Jindal is the gov of Louisiana, and turned around the mess of Katrina that the prev. governor made...well, her and Ray Nagin. Now Obama is toying with the idea of giving that (*#$@_#& mayor of New Orleans the job of spearheading FEMA! Seriously, my 5 yr old could manage FEMA better than that man.

Let's hand over millions and millions of dollars in relief funds to a man who was directly responsible for so many people being stuck in New Orleans during Katrina, causing so many to loose their lives, a man who let chaos reign in the aftermath of the storm, to the point where hundreds and hundreds of police and national guardsmen were required to impose martial law to keep the peace. Yep-he's great at managing things:scared1:

Oh my -- is this for real??????

I just wanted to drop in and thank all of you for inspiring me to spread the conservative word like wildfire for 2012! I've been lurking in here since the election and it's been comforting to know there are others who have kept a level head throughout all this mess and didn't fall for the "H" hype! Thank you all!

I also wanted to share something that scared the you know what out of me, it just goes to show the kool-aid stories must be true ;) http://obamamessiah.blogspot.com/

Welcome - stick around - we need each other now more than ever. But, thanks for making me sick to my stomach first thing in the morning with that site. YUCK!

Why oh why did I have to flip through the channels? I ended up with a roast of Rahm Emanuel on C-SPAN. They're trying to make fun of Rahm's way left ideals, but really... It's not working. It's only serving to scare me more!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

well i'm trying to be optimistic....the wall street journal had several positive articles and a positive editorial on Rahm, saying that he's a pragmatist much more than a leftist....that if it's up to him, he'll govern from the center, not from the left because only from the center can they get reelected in 4 years and not lose the legislature in 2...
so i'm hopeful.....or at least, a bit less suicidal...

Speaking of governors...

Did any of you notice who was standing behind Barack Obama at the press conference? None other than No Jobs Jenny. Jennifer Granholm, Michigan's governor. The one who completely bankrupted our state. He put her on his economic transition team!!! :scared1:

We are really in for it.

oh yeah, i noticed that.....i couldn't believe it when i heard she's on it......

but then, trying to keep positive, i thought maybe this will be good for michigan...maybe michigan will get the help it needs (of course, the fact that michigan is so deep in doggie doo, is due to good ole jen, but don't get me started)...

infrastructure projects certainly couldn't hurt....

I have not been around for the last few days. I was just wondering....did we ever hear anything more about BO's grandmother's death? I mean if he went to a funeral it would be all over the news right? If it has not been, I just wonder how it is possible that she died this "typical white person" who was practically his MOTHER and then .....nothing. NO reports of a service, burial ....is this going to be like 'Weekend at Bernie's"? OR more like PYSCHO? OR did she die long before the bs statement made on the day before the election? See this bothers me quite a bit and I do not understand why it has been just dropped by the press. If she did die two or three weeks ago, it speaks to the lenghts the press and BO will go to insure an election.

No, no reports of a service burial. Something is up with this story. I think Maya publically made a vague comment that they'd have the funeral "sometime". If she really did pass away this past Monday, I would think we’d be hearing about a funeral by now.

You'd think so.

Good morning everyone! (Listening to sleet falling outside my window.)

I was wondering the same thing.

So, question: Is the Poly worth is? Is garden view worth it? Has anyone stayed there? I'd be a happy clam staying in a Standard room at my beloved WL, but I'm wondering if I should do a wink, wink, nudge, nudge with my dad to get him to go with the Poly since he may never have another chance to stay there that cheaply.

If you had the above options, what would you do?

WL is our favorite resort and we have stayed there many times. We love the themeing and the price point, since it is a good value among the deluxe resorts. Having said that, I always wanted to stay at the Poly and we were able to after 9/11 when we got it for $99/night! :cool1: It was wonderful and we fell in love with the place. We would stay there again if the price was right.

A great site for poly info is Tikiman's site at http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/index.html it has all of the Poly info in one place.

Morning everyone. :wave2:

I have a question for any OS lurkers that may be visiting. Can you fill us in an any BO grandmother funeral details? Did we miss this information somewhere? :confused3

SD, we stayed at CB exactly one year ago and loved it. We also stayed at Riverside when it was still Dixie Landings and that has to be our all-time favorite. I would say save your $$$ and stay at either moderates.

Palin, back at work, calls criticism cruel

By SEAN COCKERHAM and KYLE HOPKINS
Anchorage Daily News

(11/07/08 19:59:43)

Gov. Sarah Palin returned to work in her Anchorage office Friday afternoon and spoke out against anonymously sourced stories critical of her behavior on the campaign trail, saying "it's immature, it's unprofessional and those guys are jerks."

A pack of local and national media was waiting for Palin, back to work at the governor's office for the first time since becoming a candidate for vice president more than two months ago.

The governor talked about her future in national politics, if Sen. Ted Stevens should resign, her rocky relationship with Democrats and anonymous criticism from John McCain campaign staffers who claim she went on a clothes-shopping spree with Republican Party money and didn't know Africa is a continent and not a country.

"If there are allegations based on questions or comments I made in debate prep about NAFTA, about the continent versus the country when we talk about Africa there, then those were taken out of context. And that's cruel, it's mean-spirited, it's immature, it's unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away with it taking things out of context, then tried to spread something on national news. It's not fair, it's not right," Palin said.

Much of the sniping by anonymous McCain staffers in media outlets like Newsweek and Fox News in recent days is over the Republican National Committee's purchase of more than $150,000 in clothes for Palin as well as her family.

"Those are the RNC's clothes, they are not my clothes. I never forced anybody to buy anything. I never asked for anything more than maybe a diet Dr Pepper every once in a while," she said.

"It's just very, very disappointing because this is Barack Obama's time right now. And this is an historic moment in our nation and this can be a shining moment for America in our history. And look what we're talking about again -- we're talking about my shoes and belts and skirts. This is ridiculous. Let's talk about progressing this nation."

Asked if she believes any of the criticism she's now facing is sexist, Palin said she sees a double standard.

"I don't know if anybody's asking Barack Obama, for instance, who did your makeup before you went on stage. But they've been asking me," Palin said.

Palin scolded the news media for its coverage, saying it's hard to have a defense for stories based on anonymous sources, including claimed tension between Palin and McCain camps.

"I know that I know that I know that there was nothing done wrong in the campaign, that John McCain and I have a great relationship, I honor him, I love him, I still wish that he were the president elect," Palin said.

She said she spoke to McCain by phone Friday morning. He was disgusted too, and told campaign staffers to knock off the criticism, she said.

Palin has a lot of class:goodvibes If her trivial criticisms were applied to the good old boys I highly doubt they would come away as clean as she does:yay: It goes to show the world that the media is distracting the American people from the issues because they don't want Republican ideals to be heard. Our society eats trivial stuff up and it is hard not to be attracted to it honestly like Michelle's dress. Yup, I thought it was butt ugly:rotfl: The difference is personally deciding to blog your opinion rather than the media making a circus around the trivial issues and forming your opinion around the free press "facts".

We live in the America that makes a celebrity out of anyone in the public eye. Whether it is negative or positive publicity we have made a detrimental mistake of voting for the President like it is some American Idol popularity contest. We need to find a way as a party to work with this mentality and educate the public.

hmmm...thought i had read that the defendant's attorney filled for dismissal and that it was granted. but certiori, i think, means that the defendant needs to supply information, pertaining to the case, for the judge to review. interesting.

also....wouldn't it be interesting if some state electorates decided to go rogue and not vote as pledged on december 15? it'd take quite a few, but it'd be interesting....i mean...we're making history with this election, right?

It always bothered me ...that he's married to a Kennedy. I would think "the wife" has influence over hubby.

I wish he could influence her to eat. She used to be so pretty but now she's scary looking.

Caribbean Beach or Riverside (water view): $2,104.41
Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge (standard view): $2,728.65
Wilderness Lodge (courtyard view): $3,000.60
Animal Kingdom Lodge (Savannah view): $3,122.49
Polynesian (Garden view): $3,422.28

So, question: Is the Poly worth is? Is garden view worth it? Has anyone stayed there? We've stayed at the Poly. Our last stay was in May. I don't like the Poly.
The rooms are dark. The CMs we dealt with were indifferent-except for the cashier in the lobby gift shop downstairs she was sweet. We don't like the Capt. Cooks, the cs restaurant. I won't stay there again because I reaaly don't think that it's worth the money.

That said, if your dad wants to try it, go for it! My favorite resorts at WDW are the Swan and Dolphin but people don't like them. The things that appeal to someone at a resort are about personal preferences and everyone is different, so we will have varied opinions. TLSNELL1981 loves the Poly so something about it appeals to her. We're both DVC members at BWV.

Our esteemed Governor, Dora the Explorer... :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

OK, for some reason the picture doesn't want to work so try this:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2008/11/01/PH2008110100559.html

Now, if that picture doesn't scare you, I don't know what will... :confused3 I was kind of creeped out by it.

Mommy, hold me!
That woman must be smart or good at governing because it will never be said that she won because of her good looks.

LOVE the dolphin! too bad they remodeled the lobby without much color...i liked the prior design.

We were there 2 years ago. Have they remodeled since that time? We are so pumped-11 days!!!
I need to get my rear in gear. On Monday, I'm shipping a couple of boxes with clothes and toiletries. The weather looks warm for the day and cool at night. Hopefully at least a couple of days we'll have cool temps during the day. Last year was balmy at Thanksgiving. The year before we froze, so I hope the Snow Mizer and the Heat Mizer can compromise and give us nice weather.

She is crazy if she does not run.....8 years in the senate would remove all questions of knowledge and experience

I find it funny that a liberal would claim that Palin needs to spend 2 terms in the senate in order to have "knowledge and experience" yet he elects a 1 term senator who spent 80% of that first term campaigning for another office, and his tag team partner, a 20+ year veteran of the senate who has proven that he really hasn't learned anything from his time except how to talk from both sides of his mouth.

She has more knowledge and experience already than both the President-elect AND the VP-elect combined. I'll take common sense over a slick sales presentation any day.

yup....was there last november and they had removed the salmon/aqua "tent" that looked very "under the sea" and it is now lots of cream and neutral tones...it's still nice, but i don't think it is as fanciful and striking as the original Michael Graves design.

we were so happy during the day last november (8 - 16), but the winds of the north really did take over at night...FREEZING!!!! Good excuse to buy new disney jackets and sweatshirts? YOU'RE GONNA HAVE SO MUCH FUN!!!

what's up w/ gmboy95 and his threads?? You'd think his side lost the way he's acting. Give it up man- be happy for once.

Anyone else think it's a little odd to have a memorial a month away?

Thanks for the information! We invited the woman who was my daughter's nanny and her son to come with us. He is 7 and autistic but remembers everything. I'm anxious to see if he'll notice the difference in color. They were our guests the last time that we stayed at the Dolphin. He called it the Dolphin's house!
