One thing I have always found maddening about McCain is the fact that he is more interested in being the dear friend of the opposition than throwing down the gauntlet and fighting. And as y'all say, there's a difference between being nasty and playing dirty and actually fighting fire with fire. There is no excuse for McCain not slamming Obama and the Dems on the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae issues, among others. Each time he'd start on an issue, I always got the feeling he found it very unseemly. Unfortunately McCain is more likely to stab a Republican in the back than blast a Democrat on policy. If you followed the Republican primaries closely, you'd have seen the absolute contempt he held for Mitt Romney. He was far nastier and gloves-off to him than he ever was to Obama.
Also agreed. My problem is I now have two pinheads for Senators. At least I have a conservative Congressman though. When I was writing and emailing about the bailout, I got a nice, thoughtful response email and later a follow-up postcard from my Rep. who voted against it twice. From Sen. Jim Webb (who voted for it), I got a rambling email almost 3 pages long a month after the fact, and the first half was nothing but ranting about Republicans and Bush. I felt like writing back and telling him to try the blame game with someone else. As a Virginian, I demand action and solutions to problems, not whining to me about how it's not your fault.
Webb has no class, and I still can't believe I'm stuck with him and now Mark "Homeschoolers, Christians, and gun owners are a threat to the fabric of America" Warner as my Senators.
