Hello there DISboards!

My name's Clarice and I'll be narrating this trip report to the happiest place on earth!

Let's go ahead and get the basics over with so we can get to the fun of the trip shall we?

Who?

(Sidenote: I'm actually blonde now just FYI!)

Me! (Clarice)- This trip was for my 21st birthday, which is actually at the end of March, but my spring break was at the beginning of it so early March it was! I'm a junior Communications major at CNU (which is in southern VA). I'm a certified Disney freak and as soon as I graduate college I plan on moving down to Florida to do the DCP and then hopefully working my way up at Disney! I hadn't been to WDW since my 18th birthday trip so I was SUPER excited to see all the new additions:hyper:
Favorite princess: Ariel and now Anna too (from Frozen!)
Favorite park: Magic Kingdom
Favorite ride: Rock n Roller Coaster
Favorite Disney food: Mickey waffles:love:

My dad- The idea of this trip was actually my Dad's. This is strange because he's not the biggest fan of Disney but really he just wanted to get away from the frigid winter we've had this year! He was the driver of this trip too, which I owe him big time because it was a looong trip!
Favorite character: Grumpy (they're basically twins:lmao:)
Favorite park: Hollywood Studios
Favorite ride: Rock n Roller Coaster
Favorite Disney food: churros

So that's all for who will be in this TR!
And here are the other details of our trip
When? March 2-6
How? We DROVE! .... it was about 1,000 miles just to get there:scared1:
Where? Fort Wilderness. We camped in my dad's chevy van, which has a foldout bed, a fridge, microwave, and a tv-it's pretty nice! The thing is the size of a boat though which is why my dad drove the whole time, otherwise I would have helped!:laughing:

I think that's pretty much all you'll need to know for this TR! Hope you will join in on all the adventures:thumbsup2

Alright folks let's get this show on the road!

~~~March 1, 2014~~~
Since I go to school in Southern VA but live in Northern VA, it just made sense for my dad to drive down and pick me up at school instead of me driving 200 miles home only to drive south again! SO....my dad hit the road around 8 Saturday morning while I (im)patiently waited for him to come:rolleyes:
The last few minutes of packing are always the most stressful am I right? I was frantically thinking of every single thing I might need and thought for sure I had missed something! haha but luckily I didn't. While I waited I took a picture of my Minnie inspired nails. I did it for my last trip and figured I should just make it a tradition! Too bad they chipped almost immediately and looked horrible the rest of the trip:laughing:
My dad arrived around noon and we quickly loaded up my stuff (which I just have to mention-my dad packed more than I did!! Crazy right?!) We hit the road soon after and had quite the drive ahead of us!
IMG_2262.jpg
On the road we passed by the town of Gaston!! That got me super excited since meeting Gaston was on my list of characters I wanted to meet for the trip. We stopped at Subway for lunch shortly after getting on the road since it was already lunch time. Then got back to driving again:drive:
The only other eventful thing we passed that day was South of the Border! Has anyone ever stopped there?? My dad LOATHES that place! I used to think it was so cool as a kid, with all the bright colors and everything...but now I'm starting to see his point. It's a cheesy overpriced tourist trap that is pretty run-down and gross.
IMG_2264.jpg
But we always get a laugh at the funny billboards along the way!!!
This one's my favorite:rotfl:
Haha it's so horribly cheesy that it's hilarious. Anyways we did NOT stop there this time! After a long day of driving, we finally decided to stop for the night at an exit off of 95 in South Carolina called Point South. Even though we were camping for the trip, we stayed at a hotel during the drive there and back just because it didn't make sense to unpack everything for one night.
We decided to stay the night at the Best Western there and boy was that a mistake!! The hotel itself wasn't bad, but we were starving for dinner (it was around 9pm by then) and the hotel had a Denny's attached to it. We went inside and the restaurant was pretty much dead yet we had to wait about 45 minutes for our food!! My dad got a bowl of chili and asked for a piece of toast, the waitress never brought it and then she just disappeared from the restaurant completely! Oh well, not every place is going to have great service I guess:sad2:
Anyways, we were exhausted from the day so as soon as we got back from our not so stellar dinner we crashed for the night and dreamed of seeing the Florida sunshine the next day!!!:cheer2:
Sorry I don't have many pictures from the day! Once we got to Florida I got veryyy camera happy so don't worry!
Up next: ARRIVING IN DISNEY!!!:dance3:
March 2, 2014
So after a good nights sleep we woke up around 7 in the morning. We were almost to Florida, definitely not the time to sleep in!!:banana:
Remember the Denny's at the hotel from the previous update? Well the hotel didn't have a breakfast bar so instead guests received a voucher for a free breakfast at the Denny's. I knew this would be a bad idea, but my dad insisted on going so we wandered over there. We walked in the door and the place was PACKED with a huge line out the door!!! Plus there were less employees than the night before when the service was terrible. My dad has a pretty short temper so as soon as he saw that he said forget it.
Needless to say, we won't be returning to the Best Western in Point South, SC ever again!
We quickly packed up our stuff then and got on the road! We didn't have much ground left to cover in GA, so very soon we saw.....
IMG_2269.jpg
WOOHOO! The Florida state line!!! :cool1: Both my dad and I were pretty excited to finally be in the good old sunshine state!
Soon after we passed the FL state line we knew we would have to stop at the FL welcome center for the free OJ!
IMG_2271.jpg
Man just look at those gorgeous palm trees :love: (wish I could see some right now instead of snow and sleet :( )
IMG_2273.jpg
I LOVE dolphins so I had to take a picture with this guy.
IMG_2275.jpg
YUM!!!
It tasted SO good! Although I wish I would have tried the grapefruit too, it looked delicious.
After our quick stop at the visitors center (and after grabbing 52 of the Disney brochures:rolleyes1) we got back on the road again.
IMG_2279.jpg
The sky was so beautiful that day!! The clouds reminded me of Toy Story <3
Once we got around Jacksonville something weird happened. Now to tell this story you have to know that my dad is a total car guy. (He's owned over 100 in his lifetime so far!!) Anyways, as we're cruising down 95 we see a cool old yellow convertible pass us. My dad instantly knew it was a TR6 and went on and on about how cool it was, what years they were made, stuff like that! haha So we keep on driving and all of a sudden traffic comes to a stop:sad2:
As we get closer to the accident, we see the yellow convertible!!! It looked like the rear left side tire had just completely come off as there were tire marks along the back of the car. Everyone looked like they were ok, but it was just so freaky seeing that car 10 minutes later in an accident!
After that scary sighting, we kept on driving. The last stretch to Orlando seriously took FOREVER!!!! Finally we were getting off of 95 and onto 4 which led straight in to Orlando.
And then....before we knew it....we started seeing these signs
:dance3::dance3::dance3:
IMG_2280.jpg
Our plan was to go to Publix first to get a few groceries, but we got turned around a bit and all of a sudden we were driving under this....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMG_2284.jpg
:banana::banana:BEST SIGN EVER!!!!!!!!!!:banana::banana:
So anyways, we ended up turning around and found Publix first. We got some groceries for the week and then got to drive under the gates AGAIN!!! This time we were headed for Fort Wilderness:woohoo:
Up next: Our campsite and DTD for the evening!
Following along as well and enjoying myself so far! :thumbsup2 I also lived in Southern VA for several years and totally remember stopping at South of the Border on a family trip down to Florida! I had completely forgotten about that place, but it all came flooding back with your picture. Looking forward to the next chapter.
That's awesome! haha yeah I feel like South of the Border is a place most people try to forget :laughing: Thanks for joining in!!
So after getting some groceries at Publix we headed back under those magical gates:cloud9:
It was pretty easy getting to Fort Wilderness as the signs were very good in directing us which way to go. My dad did freak out a bit though and asked if we were going to be charged admission when we had to drive through the MK gates. :laughing:
We finally made it to Fort Wilderness!!!:cool1:
IMG_0416.jpg
We pulled up to the check in area and a nice CM came out to help us. I had already done the online check in so it was pretty easy. She asked if we were going to the parks at all and I almost said "DUH!! Why else would I be here?!?" But then I realized I guess some people do just come to FW to go camping...that's it. haha!
Our campsite was in the Spanish Moss Lane loop and was number 2013! Would have been cool/ironic if it was the one across from us, 2014.
Once we got to the site we started to unpack everything and set up camp. Since the chevy van has pretty much everything inside all we really had to do was put together the EZ-up tent over the picnic table. After we'd set up pretty much everything my dad insisted on having "time to relax" and he just wanted to have a couple of beers before we went anywhere.
Ummm hello dad, THIS IS DISNEY. AKA NO TIME FOR RELAXING!
haha I had to obey though because I didn't want to make him angry on our first day there! So after about an hour or so of "relaxing" (or for me stressing about what we could be doing instead:hyper:) we finally left for DTD for the evening.
One thing I didn't realize about FW was how big it was and that there was a bus system within the campground! The way the routes are set up within the camp are quite confusing and I feel like it's something they need to work on as almost every guest had to ask the bus driver if they were on the right bus!
Anyways, we had to take a bus to the front of the campground and from there we had to wait at the bus stop for at DTD bus.
Once we got to DTD we headed straight for WOD first!! I could live in that store:love: One thing I seemed to have forgotten about Disney since my last trip though?? How EXPENSIVE everything is!! I mean I know Disney is expensive. But literally everything I picked up in there was at least $35 or more. Plus it was insanely crowded in there that night too so we didn't stay in there for too long. I bought a few charms and a necklace then we left.
IMG_2293.jpg
IMG_2297.jpg
Since it was almost dinner time I knew where we were heading to eat! Earl of Sandwich!!!!:banana: Man this place is literally my favorite sandwich place. In. The. World. I just really like sandwiches and EOS sandwiches taste SO good! Of course it was packed so we had to wait awhile but I must admit it moves quickly as they have a good system going on there to get people in and out quickly.
I got the Earls Club and my dad got some kind of spicy chicken sandwich? (I would look up the menu online but I know if I do it'll just make me really sad because I can't have any. I think I hate living so far from an EOS almost as much as I hate living so far from Disney:rotfl:)
IMG_2300.jpg
(Sorry for dark iphone photos!)
My dad also got this cute mini bottle of wine with his dinner!
IMG_2298.jpg
After our delicious meal we, okay just me because my dad decided to sit outside, went into Tren-D!! Talk about another store I could live in. I will take one of everything in there please.
IMG_2302.jpg
I found this GORGEOUS sweatshirt and so wanted to buy it but is was like $50 I think. Plus I'd be so worried I'd ruin or snag one of the sequins so I just took a picture of it and now use it as my phone background!:laughing:
IMG_2301.jpg
I did buy a cute tank top there though. It has Aurora on it and says "My Castle, My Rules"
IMG_2304.jpg
I love the lego dragon. He just seems so happy:goodvibes
After Tren-D my dad and I were both pretty exhausted from the day so we decided to got to Goofy's Candy Co. before we left.
IMG_2312.jpg
I LOVE the make your own rice krispie station so I knew I'd have to make one. I got my Mickey krispie covered in dark chocolate, with sprinkles, almonds, and a white chocolate drizzle:love:
IMG_2314.jpg
My dad made a gingerbread mickey and got it covered with coconut. The CM joked that he looked like he was wearing a furry coat! haha
After a long day of driving we were exhausted so we headed back to the campground and turned in for the night!
I had my alarm set VERY early and was sort of nervous about the next morning. You'll find out why next update;)
Up next: Meeting the two most famous Disney sisters!
Hey everyone!!
So if you've been following along you may have noticed that I haven't updated in awhile....and there's a reason for that!
My Macbook is currently out of commission (something with the hard drive and it's very frustrating:worried:) and all of my photos are on there so I can't really update right now.
I think I may have enough on Photobucket to do a few from the first day at Epcot but hang in there! As soon as I get my laptop back this TR will get back in gear!::yes::
