Having received no PIN or code by email or snail mail this time (I have gotten them in the past by both email and postcard), I just called this evening for the heck of it. We already had existing reservations for 11/17-24 at CSR with
AAA discount.
The CM who answered was very kind, courteous, and knowledgeable. At first glance she saw no discounts but said she "wanted to check one more thing." A few moments later, she said she had found "something" and would try it out for the dates and resort we had booked, to compare pricing. She said there were no block out dates for this "PIN." However, the rate she pulled up did not beat our AAA rate.
After more calculating, she said what she pulled up was really a rack rate and most likely that was because we are going at Thanksgiving--the PIN did not work. Although there was no block out on the screen for those dates, she said the resorts can still block a discount from applying for that time.
So at least I feel better that (1) there was a PIN associated with my name, and (2) I tried to check and now know I have the best price I can get.
From talking to this CM, I could tell she knew exactly what she was looking for and was doing all she could to get us the better deal. She didn't give me any runaround or evasive answers. So I don't know that I would bother trying to call back...I am tempted after hearing from some on the boards that 3rd time's the charm, etc., but probably for the busy time of year we are going, that's not gonna happen.
