I've decided to take the plunge and write a pretrip report. We will be leaving for WDW in 12 days and are just too excited so here we go....

We live in TN but I am originally from NJ, my mother lovingly calls us the hillbillies. She and Dad just moved down here and are still in culture shock. Allow me to introduce ourselves:

DH - born and raised in TN. For all you Tennessee Vols out there, my husband bleeds orange. His name is JR, now you may think because we are in the south that may be "junior".....you would be right. Except when I first met him he introduced himself as J.R. (maybe to not appear to be the clampett he truly is). So as we go through this report, feel free to read junior or J.R., the two are interchangeable. JR loves southern food, steak, potatoes and does not have a very wide palate. Although I will give the guy credit, he tries just about anything

Me - Stacey, the clampett wannabe. I am a southern transplant and truly love the south. I love to cook for people, and love to entertain. However this trip is to celebrate my graduation from Nursing School, so needless to say I haven't had much time in 3 years to cook anything but hotdogs. So I think JR's alterior motive for this trip was to eat some real food for a change. I love fish, any kind of fish. I will eat something that swam, was submerged in muck or pulled from the oceans depths over anything that eats grass.

DD7 - ohhh she is probably the truest southern girl ever. She is pure country with my love of big city foods. She loves oysters on the half shell with a side of biscuits and gravy or grits. We upgraded her to an adult dining plan, knowing full well that she will not be happy eating pizza and chicken fingers while Momma enjoys lobster. She is an adventerous eater and will try anything and everything that Momma has on her plate (still trying to figure out how I can get out of sharing)

Thats us! The modern day clampetts and we are heading to the World for 8 days on May 16th and staying at POFQ....2 days after my graduation from Nursing School. Our ADR's are as follows, so stay tuned, I'm looking forward to sharing the good, the best and the most out of this world food with everyone.

Hey pharmgirl69! I think you will enjoy all the places you have chosen. We have dined at all your restaurant choices at least once (though Akershus was not a princess place the many times we dined there)

You will be there two days before us and we leave two days after you. So, you would think we might cross paths but we are not dining at one place that you have selected!:rotfl:

We are dining at Kona, The Wave, Les Chefs, Kouzzina, Sanaa, San Angel, Maya Grill, Boma and T-Rex. DH and I will likely slip away for one or maybe two signature meals by ourselves. We are thinking of the Yachtsman or Citricos although Jiko would be the easiest to pull off while my parents eat with the boys at Boma.

As a Nj transplant to the south, I just know this will be worth reading!!

Ohh! Your hitting alot of places we will be hitting in Sept! Cant wait to read your report take lots of pics! Have a wonderful time and safe flight there and home!

My husband and I will be traveling the same time your family will! We don't have any dining destinations in common though, so I guess that's where the commonalities end for us :)

We're from Nashville. Hopefully you weren't affected by any of the flooding!

Thanks all! Jasmine, we will be sure to take lots of pictures. I put in another post that hubby "the beast" about 8 months ago. The beast is some fancy schmancy camera with all the bells and whistles. (i know nothing about cameras). So you can bet there WILL be pics!!

No Mandi, we didn't get any flooding to speak of. We are in eastern Tennessee about an hour out of Knoxville. My, my, how did you fair in Nashville. We saw on the news that you guys really got hit hard!! I hope you all stayed safe and didn't have to swim out of your bedroom.

Belle and Mandi we need to wear big huge nametags saying HEY! so we recognize each other LOL....so many restaurants in WDW and so little time. I'll be looking forward to hearing ya'lls (did ya like that? ya'll? I'm getting that southern thing going on) food reports and see where you guys went to and how you liked it

Looking forward to this report. I used to live in East Tennessee for 25 years before moving to Nashville and DH is a yankee from Michigan. You've got a great list there!

I'm very excited to be able to write about my food experiences this trip - It will be my first on the DIS!

As far as the flooding in Nashville, we live in a big condo on an upper level floor, so we didn't have to worry about any flooding. We had lots of friends that didn't fare as well, but nothing too damaging!

I really do think we should try to say hello at some point - there are a ton of people on here that are all going the same time as we are!

Hi!! Your family sounds so fun! How cool that your parents moved down there too! You have sooo many great ADRs planned!!! :yay::yay:

Count me in! You'll be visiting two of my favorite places - Citricos & Flying Fish!:thumbsup2

Hey Welcome Tiger and Allegra!!!!! I keep hearing we've got a good line up of restaurants....I hope so cause I am soooooo ready for some real seafood!!! Welcome and thanks for joining

Of course the ocd part of me could NOT leave well enough alone. I had to go and rearrange some of our dining. I saw someone's food porn from the cape may clambake who had a HUGE, I mean HUGE plate of crablegs. Well me, being the seafood lover I am, could not understand how we possibly could have missed this place....so here's what I've done.

Monday the 17th for dinner, instead of going to Tony's, we're gonna go to Whispering canyon. I figure that would be really fun the first full day to get my daughter into the "silliness" (DD7 tends to be a little dramatic and overly mature for her age...well she pretends anyway). Secondly, it would be neat to take the boat to the MK to see the fireworks that night....so that was a bonus.

The next thing I did was cancelled whispering canyon breakfast on Sunday 5/23 and we will just do a QS that morning and take a leisure wake up call and decide what we want to do that last day.

Then I made and GOT the reservation at cape may for Princess Day which is May 20th for dinner at 800pm. Yeah I know we are gonna be eating A LOT but hey, whats vacation for??!??

I can't believe that I actually was able to rearrange ADR at this late date and actually get what I wanted. Now tell me.....LEAVE IT ALONE.....STEP AWAY FROM THE ADRs

Another Tennessee girl joining in!! We live in Cookeville about 75 miles east of Nashville. You have some great dining lined up! We are headed to the world for the first 10 days in October for fall break and will be dining at many of the same places. I look forward to reading your trip report and I hope you have a great vacation!

Welcome ShelleyLynn.....glad you joined us Vols!! I hope no one takes offense to this because I'm a southern girl at heart too, (even tho my accent isn't southern) but I'm wondering why so many of us Tennessee people found this pre-trip report....could it have something to do with the title? I'm just saying LOL......glad you are all in, can't wait to eat all this scrumptous food and tell everyone about the good the bad, and the sinfully wonderful!!

Well we are off to the world in 5 days. Have I told you how much I have to do? My final exam is tomorrow and I'm trying real hard to remain focused. My BFF and I are having a graduation party on Saturday and then its off to the world on Sunday morning. My house is a total disaster. I have boxes and bags all over my counters of stuff I need to pack, I'm starting to stress out......this all should have been done weeks ago.

I have a feeling that Sunday morning I'll still be throwing last minute stuff in bags as we are running out the door. can't wait to get on that plane and not have any kind of text book with me!!! Boy, I hope my husband remembers what I look like, I've been stuck in a book for 3 years.

welcome oldhag!!! thx for joining, i'm looking forward to sharing all our reviews

:lmao: OMGOSH I was thinking you just called that poster an oldhag!!! :rotfl2: I didn't even bother looking at the Screen name!!! :rotfl:

Alright, my laugh is over now..

Anyways, I'm here and you have a GREAT ADR list! You're going to be eating a LOT of awesome comida!

And now that you only have TWO days left, STEP AWAY FROM THE ADR'S!

Now that I know it's your graduation....CONGRATULATIONS!!! party: How exciting to be celebrating it at Disney World! Do you have a job lined up for when you get back or are you already in the health industry? I was thinking of going back to school and getting my nursing degree (already have my Bachelors in Health Science) and thought that the combination of the two would be awesome! So you're an RN right?

Will you be driving to WDW?

Joining in. We get to POR a few days after you.

Congrats on graduating nursing school.
party:

I just finished radiography school yesterday and I can't wait to have some real meals. I have basically made it through the last two years on bags of doritos, bacon/egg/cheese sandwiches and lots and lots of coffee.

Have a great trip!
