Haters gonna hate, but cheerleding is awesome and is a sport. It's also classified as the most dangerous sport. Just talk about anything having to do with cheer. Competitions, cheers, tips, etc. :)

Yeah! You made it! Well, I am cheering in basketball season, at the moment. I definately like cheering for football better! But, still LOVE it! :cheer2:

I do competition cheer (: I've been doing cheering since 4th grade and gymnatics and dance since I was 3 or 4. I looooove stunting- especially when I'm the flyer. I love the dances and I love tumbling!

And Cheerleading defintely IS a sport. I hate it when people say it's not. I'm like "Let's see you try and lift somebody with only your hands. You try to do a back tuck."

Have y'all heard the quote "athletes lift weights--cheerleaders lift athletes?" I LOVE that! I love stunting, too! It makes mennervous, sometimes, though. When we perform something big, I always doubt myself about it!

What kinds of stunts does everyone else do?

I've been cheering since 1st grade and competing since 4rth. That year we went to WDW for nationals and were three tenths of a point shy of a national title. I'm a backspot and base but mostly backspot

I'm on an intermediate team so we do basket tosses, one mans, leap frogs stuff like that.

Like I said, I have cheered for 4 years. Hopefully, I will continue to cheer for a few years to come. I have never done competition cheer, just the normal cheer for your school, team.

We are intermediate, too. I can do libertys, scorpions, twist-ins, single bases(prob the same as one mans) I have tried basket tosses, but we never do them. I might post some pics tomorrow!

what's the name of the cheerleading leauge. i can't find a listing for it..when are your games ? do you play in front of crowds of 5-10000 people.?

not a sport at all. yes it may be dangerous but so is putting on nail polish. cheerleading is cheesecake and nothing more. if it wasen't for the mens teams you wouldn't be there.

sorry this thread has been done before. but i couldn't resist. by the way when i go out to watch mens college basketball i wish the cheerleaders would just sit down and not take away from the flow of the game. i watch syracuse university basketball on espn and have to say i have never seen there cheerleaders (thank goodness).

guys view cheerleaders as cheesecake and nothing more. not a sport not even close. now this post should get the blood flowing. i think that's why you posted this.

I'm on two teams. I 'm on a winter team that practices once a week and we have a little competition in April. Then there's "Traditional" year which runs from August-December and we go to up to four competitions and cheer at football games. What's your team's names? Mine's Hawks. Go Hawks!

Ummm, I hate to be rude and start a fight, but you have no idea. Cheerleaders on TV just sit there and look pretty. Real cheerleaders actually work their butts off for twelve hours a week. I'd love to post some of my practices just for you to see.

My team's name is the Indians. Go Indians! Just curious, how does your team wear their bows? We have to wear our bows to the front(so we look like mice) and they look sooooo bad and cheesy. Our coach says everyone does it, but I don't think so.

i don't questtion that. your probably in better condition then some of the players. but it still doesn't make it a sport. would some one buy season tickets to see you cheer. i don't think so. checked out some of the college football web sites. season tickets are in the thousands of dollars. no one would pay to watch cheerleaders. no league,no following and no trading cards are available. and no money in it.

We have hairpieces sewed into our buns and the bows are on there.I know I have a picture of my hair for competition on my computer somewhere but
I can't find it. I'll post it when I do.

I will post pics of ours, too! You probably will laugh when you see it though. :)

Geez. I hate when people try to start something. Please, just give it up. To be honest, I don't care if you think cheerleading is a sport or not. It is to us, and that's all that matters.

Amen, sister! Unlike other sports, cheerleading has no offseason, so it's 24/7 all the time!

If you don't have anything nice to say, just don't say anything at all.

I definately agree with Sara and Sarah! Too bad my name's not Sara(h)! That would be awesome! Not to change subject, but, do y'all have to go through tryouts every year?
