2006 Dates:
National Dance Team Championship: February 3 - 6

National High School Cheerleading Championship: February 10 - 13

Does anyone know where they are staying or what their schedule might be?

Much thanks! ::MinnieMo

I checked at varsity.co(m) since I will be at WDW as well around that time.

According to the website, the dates are Feb 10-14, however it doesn't give a schedule so we don't know when the comp's are done for the evening. It did mention that they will be having (at least?) two days of competitions and an exclusive event Sunday evening at MGM for a Championship Celebration Party. No specifics really, but as it sounds like from this year's posters the parks aren't any more crowded due to the cheerleaders during the day since most attend the comp's even when not warming up or performing. It could have an impact on the evenings, but I wouldn't expect any impact during MK EMH on Sunday since they will be at MGM.

Their registration form has two options for lodging - AllStars and CBR, but that only covers the cheerleaders, I imagine families will stay anywhere they want. Their 4-day and 3-day package price didn't seem all that bad (though a little pricey for CBR if you can get a code) especially considering it included 2 counter-service meal coupons for use during the days of competition...umm.

We experienced the HS cheerleaders & a twirling group in Feb this year @ AS Movies...quote the Raven, "...nevermore".

Not sure if it was more of a shock coming from the HRH to the AS Mo (charming in it's own unique way) or the onslaught of bodies everywhere you looked. Not one square inch of the resort was unclaimed. Food court was packed by the young ladies (not eating, just chillin', without a chaperone in sight).

Pools were full everytime I looked. The resort was a constant state of frenzy...punctuated by squealing, boisterous shouting/cheering/jeering girls.

Another issue was the state of dress, or should I say undress? Yes, I know the actual costumes are sometimes flimsy, but I'm talking street-wear here. Not street-walking or club wear. The attire or lack thereof could easily be misconstrued by a perv...who's watching these girls. Yes, there is safety in numbers but, what are they (or their parents/chaperones) thinking?

On a positive note;) , didn't see a noticable presence in the parks (they were just over-crowded with the Pres. Day visitors).

Thanks for the info :goodvibes

I am staying at AKL from Feb 10 - Feb 12 and moving over to AsMo on Feb 12th and staying until Feb 18th.

Just wondering if a preferred room at AsMo might be worth it if the resort is potentially packed, Anyone have an opinion re this?

My DS (14) is "very happy" that there are going to be cheerleaders around while he is on property

I just hope we can get some sleep ;)

The pref. AS Mo rooms are near the lobby & main pool (i.e. more congested).

Although I had requested the Toy Story building (once again - no luck for my DS) we were assigned the Ducks building. The look on my face must have been something...the clerk assured me that it was a great location...he was right. The quiet pool was on the other side of the building, we were on the parking lot side, not far from the AS Mu bus stop & food court (actually closer than the Pref. Calaypso building we had on another trip).

Good Luck.

It looks like in 2005 the cheeleaders were at MK on Friday afternnoon/evening. Right now we were planning to be at MK on Friday. I wonder if we should change this plan. I am worried that MK will be a zoo on Thursday; it is morning EMH at MK on Thursday and Thursday night is a Spectro night. What do you think might be our best bet for MK, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday?

Much thanks! ::MinnieMo

Thanks keishashadow :flower1:

I will note down "Mighty Ducks" for when I arrive at the check-in desk and see what we are offered ::yes::

Last time I stayed at "Fantasia" and had a nice quiet upper floor room, but it was Feb 25 - Mar 5 and I think that the :cheer2: had already finished by that time.

I don't mind the :cheer2: 's doing their thing, but I would like to think that we will be able to get some sleep  so that we can arrive at the Parks before opening on certain days :)

Thanks again, iluvwesties (aka Carol) :wave2:

Direct from UCA's site:

1. What is the schedule for the weekend?
Friday, Feb. 10th
• Squads arrive in Orlando.
• “UCA Night” at Magic Kingdom.
Saturday, Feb 11th• Rec./Youth teams, Junior High, Freshman,
Junior Varsity Semi-finals and Finals. Small,
Medium, and Large Varsity preliminaries
and the Small and Large Varsity Coed preliminaries
and finals.
Sunday, Feb. 12th
• Non-Building finals, Small, Medium, and
Large Varsity semi-finals and finals. This
evening squads will attend the NHSCC
Celebration Block Party at the
Disney-MGM Studios. The celebration
party is a private party with a D.J. and
unlimited rides on Twilight Zone Tower of
Terror™ and the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
Monday, Feb 13th
• Squads visit a Walt Disney World® Theme
Park of their choice for the day.
Tuesday, Feb 14th
• Squads depart Orlando.
* This schedule is subject to change. Some
divisions may even change from Saturday to
Sunday or vice versa. The final detailed
schedule will depend on the number of teams
actually attending this year’s championship.
The daily schedule and order of competition
will be posted on Varsity.com once available.
2. In what hotel are we staying?
Accommodations will be provided at
Disney's All-Star Resort and Disney’s
Caribbean Beach Resort. Your squad may
choose in which resort they would like to be
housed. Disney's All-Star Resort is a very
nice, yet value-priced hotel. Disney's
Caribbean Beach Resort is considered to be
a more moderate priced hotel with larger
rooms on the Walt Disney World property.
Therefore the only difference in the package
price is the hotel cost. All other services will
remain the same for all hotels. In the event
that the Disney’s All-Star Resort sells out of
rooms, you will be automatically assigned to
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and contacted
by the NHSCC office.

Amylevan, thanks for the schedule. It looks like the MK is scheduled for Friday night and MGM scheduled for Sunday night. Does anyone know how large of a group we are talking about? Should we avoid MK on Friday night?

Thanks! ::MinnieMo
