You saw the pictures of Morgan, are you really going to tell me she looked like a HO? The makeup is sheer.

And yes I do take it to heart when I'm told I take my daughter to build a HO. I work hard to raise a sweet girl who is kind to everyone and believe me her teachers, friends and everyone that knows her will say that Morgan is one of the most caring girls out there. I also teach her to idolize people like me for instance, my grandma, my Aunt, her teachers not Paris Hilton. The whole judgement that you take your girl in there and she will be Paris is ridiculous in my opinion. :confused3

That is my opinion though and I realize others have opposites and I do respect that but calling a girl like my daughter a HO is ridiculous. Ok I realize they didnt say MORGAN is a HO but the message was there.
My take on their posts wasn't that they were calling the little girls hos, but that these extreme makeovers, the ones where they really paint the girls up to look sexy (like a ho), is going too far.

Since that kind of makeover seems to be popular, since the shows out there like the one with Paris or the one with Hef and his 3 girlfriends are so popular, I am sure some little girls truly DO idolize these women and want to emulate them.

That is not your daughter. But it's somebody's daughter.

And in the end, everyone has a right to do with their own children as they see appropriate. I've seen little girls at our school wearing skimpy, teenage-girl kinds of outfits, with little sayings like "I'm sweet and juicy!" or "Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?" I just think that's wrong, especially for the pre-puberty set. :confused3

we are gonna jump on a plane and grab a wdw pass....just stay a day or two...DH is finding a room...

that place...its Sybaris...we go there in Oct. for sweetest day....looking forward to it:woohoo:  :woohoo:

I told him to try and get Boardwalk since I have never stayed there....I hope he can..or should I say will try

See, I think that kind of thing is totally adorable! It makes my ovaries ache, I tell ya. ;)

But the slutty look, with heavy black eyeliner, dark eyeshadow, deep lipstick. Seriously, I have seen little girls come out of those places, and some of them do look hoochie. We are talking heavy, heavy make up, made up to look sexy. That sort of thing just makes me ill! It seriously creeps me out! :scared1:

Libby Lu doesnt do that kind of makeup. They never had mascara or eye liner. It was a tiny compact with sheer eye shadow lip gloss and light blush. I could hardly tell. the only thing noticeable was her cheek jewelry. I dont know what that is called. they do it at the pincess thing at DL too. Umm the diamonds on the cheekbone. :confused3

I think Morgan looks sweet in her pictures. I think we also all realize that most of her makeup is in the context of "costuming" for her dance activities.

Sometimes I wish the stores wouldn't carry things that are inappropriate in the children's section. I know one year I complained about a couple of suggestive shirts that I seen in the JC Penny children's section. The manager actually called me back to apologize and let me know that those shirts had been pulled. I can understand the Junior's section, because let's face it, we've all been teenagers and we know what it's like to want to push the envelope.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about (well except for the ovaries aching!:rotfl: ). Junior high is when it's the worst! DD and I battled over clothing and makeup in 7th & 8th grade! There were times my DH would end up in the middle of our battles and it drove him crazy also.

I just don't know what it is about that age 11-14 that makes them want to be so grown up.:confused3 By the time DD entered high school it was much better, her common sense seemed to have caught up with her phyiscal body appearance. It dawned on her...you don't really want to look like THAT!
:rotfl2:

I remember when I was in 7th grade, my mom and her best friend (who was the mom of my best friend) bought us some makeup. We were so thrilled! What did they get?

The lightest eyeshadows ever made, in pink, purple, blue and green; the palest pink blush; and I think there was a blond kind of mascara.

So what did I do? I put it on. I couldn't see it. So I put more on. I could barely see it. No matter how much I put on, I still could barely see it. :headache:

And the 'blond' type of mascara looked weird on my nearly black lashes. So my one saving grace, the one thing I was in total control of, was lip gloss! OK, it wasn't colored, but I caked that on, too. My lips constantly smelled like cherry (or some fool thing) and looked like I was drooling. :lmao:

And please we all know libby lu cant be that evil since I was in that article remember!!! :lmao: :lmao: I'm disney princess diva not bratz diva! :lmao: :lmao:

Actually I dont know of any places that do slutty eye liner/mascara makeup for girls. Maybe I am sheltered.

My daughter has been fortunate enough never to have seen Paris Hilton! :lmao: Or the playboy bunny show. :scared1:

I've always wanted to stay at Boardwalk or Beach & Yacht Club too. But the price was always a bit too high during spring break. One year I thought about renting some DVC points and staying there mid-week, then moving to a moderate or value.

I'm so having Disney withdrawals right now. I had kind of decided that I couldn't really afford to go to WDW for the RFTC. My sister didn't get very many people on her team this year...she didn't spend all summer recruiting. She's got some attrocious attorney bills from all this stuff with her son. So we talked the other day and I decided that I probably wouldn't go. But there is still a part of me that is contemplating going. I can still get the flight free and my sister said they have FL resident value rooms for $49 or we could just stay at her house and only get the room for the 1 night before. I don't know, I'm kind of torn right now. I really, really need a Typhoon Lagoon fix!:lmao:

I just don't like it when someone calls a child a name. To me its no different that a child being called ugly, dumb...there isn't any reason for it. It hurts my feelings for that child...kwim

Shawna, I hope you recognize that I am not talking in any way about Morgan! I am agreeing with you for the most part, just that I've seen some girls who were made up "too far", IMO. I'm not saying they were made up at Libby Lu, but at a place like that.

And I do know that for dance you have to be a little heavy on the make up, otherwise your facial features can't be seen from the stage. (I was in dance a few years when I was Morgan's age, and have a scar to prove it!) :rotfl:

Once again, my Mother of the Year award is going up in smoke! DD and I watch the Girls Next Door together!:rotfl2: Actually, we watch it and then during the commercials we discuss it. It has actually been a very good way for me to bring up subjects that we wouldn't normally discuss...why it's not necessarily good to just live with someone vs. marriage...what society thinks of them...self esteem...etc... But I guess watching that show with your 16yo is a bit different than with an 8yo.

:rotfl2:

Oooooo, that would be SO COOL!!!

I'm going through withdrawals, too. Why does it seem like I haven't been to DL in soooo long when in fact it's been only a little over 4 months? :rotfl:

GEESH, it took me 44 years to get there the first time, now I can't stand being away 4 months??? WTH happened???
