Pretty ho-hum.
Swim classes with the boys in the a.m. We saw one of DS4's preschool friends in the class right before DS', so they giggled at each other for a bit.
DS8 started his new Minnow class (intermediate), which is all done in a swim lane. He was struggling a bit, and the head of the swim program came by calling out a name. He stopped at the lady next to me, then turned around and went back. I asked her what he was looking for, and she said he was looking for the parents of [DS]'s name.
So DH hopped up to see if he was looking for us, then they got into a serious discussion, so I hopped up and went over there. Apparently he had asked DH why we put DS into the Minnow class, and DH got his dander up and replied, "Because that's what YOUR STAFF said to do!"
Then the guy started talking about bumping DS down to the class he just graduated from, and I said I didn't want to do that. Five weeks ago, one instructor said to sign him up for the same class, so I did. Then two weeks later, at the end of the session, a different instructor said to sign him up for the
next class. I questioned it at the time, said he was already signed up for the same level, and he insisted DS was ready to move up, but admitted the next class would be a challenge, but he thought DS was up for it. So I switched.
The guy backed off then. I said, "Look, he's signed up for two classes a week, so he'll progress quickly. He was tired today, the class is 45 mins. instead of 30, and he kept forgetting to side-breathe, so was bringing his body fully upright to pop his head out of the water to breathe." He agreed that DS would probably be fine, and he'd let the instructor in the weekday class know that DS is sort of "on the cusp" between the two classes, and may need to sit out a lap every now and then until he gets used to the pace.
In the afternoon I went shopping, since I had some coupons for OshKosh BGosh burning a hole in my wallet. I had 3 "Save $10 when you spend $35", and I needed to get some birthday gifts for my niece. So I got her some adorable clothes, and then got some things for DS4.
If you know the Osh Kosh store, the prices are outrageous, but then they post signs that say "60% off this rack" or "50% off this shelf" so it's not so bad. When they have coupons or a really good sale, I love it! So anyway, if I'd paid full price for my haul (which I'd never do), it would have cost something like $282. But with their "sale" and my coupons, it wound up totalling I think $82. Sweet!
I got a pair of embroidered jeans, embroidered denim mini-shirt, and two cute tops for my niece, and then I think 3 pair of pants and two long-sleeve tees for DS4.
