We had our "curriculum night" at the schools tonight. DH actually did make it home in time to go, thank goodness. But he was tired after a long day and just wanted to skip it. Since I'd gone through a lot of effort to arrange for us to go, I said no, we need to go.
So we did. It went well, DS8's teacher was nice. She gave her little spiel on the curriculum, the schedule of the day, and other interesting things about plans for the class.
Parents asked a lot of questions, and since I'd already spoken with her a few weeks ago, I hadn't expected to have many. But one of the parents asked about homework, and how do you know what work the kids are supposed to be doing? She said all the kids are supposed to be doing math facts, reading, spelling practice EVERY NIGHT, and she also sends home a homework sheet of either math or spelling practice or something to be completed and returned the next day. She also said the kids have a planner in their binder (I knew that part) in which they write all the homework they have for the day. (Didn't know that!)
I knew about the homework sheet, but not the rest. DH and I looked at each other like, "Ohhh really? DS has been saying there wasn't any other homework..." I asked him about it when he got home and he played all innocent: "Really, Mama? I didn't know that."
