Day 2 - Dry times ahead...

...yes we are off to MK today booze-hounds, which whilst it may have been Walt's dream and vision worries me as there are no bars- a travesty and no mistake, we shall need to have our best divining rods in hand to sniff out a drink somewhere.

Traditionally, this is the day when we feel the jet lag the most. For some reason it catches up with us after our first full day.

Weather is a little disappointing today, as it is overcast and not terribly warm - a relative term I know, but we ordered sunshine - so Disney need to buck their ideas up and get us some.

After a short bus ride we arrive at MK around 9ish (I think), there is nothing we are terribly desperate to do, but prefer a gentle stroll around the park to take a few photo's. When I say nothing we want to do, I want to go on Buzz so we wander in that general direction after first wandering around the side of the Castle into Fantasyland. Buzz is a walk on and have mixed success in our respective spaceships - needless to say I score higher:banana:

We continue on our merry way and decide to have a look in Toontown for a change, which we rarely do, and even rarer a look inside Minnie's house - sadly Minnie must be teetotal as I spy no illicit liquor anywhere in her place:sad2:

We have a reservation today at the Wave, at the Contemporary, for lunch at 1pm. However, we have wandered around the park and find ourselves at the hub earlier than this so decide to get the Monorail to the Contemporary a little early and have a mooch around.

BLT is certainly coming along and will certainly be something to behold. A quick look around the shops in the Contemporary and we are off to the Wave for lunch.

We have read some mixed reviews of this place and some of the pictures we have seen of it don't look too good but we wanted to give it a go.

We decide to eat at the bar as opposed to in the restaurant and are extremely pleasantly surprised by the surroundings. We've often said that the one area that Disney resorts let themselves down is the bars, none are really what you would get in an upscale hotel elsewhere.

The Wave bar is a real break with that problem and is a very nice bar area, where we spend a pleasant couple of hours or so - food is very good and importantly the Yuengling, Orlando Brewery Pale Ale and Porter are also very nice - as is the Wild Turkey I finish off with. Deb has some cocktails, but cannot remember what they were.

After lunch we decide to head back to BWV and decide to get the monorail back to EPCOT and walk through the park.

On the way through EPCOT we have a go on Spaceship Earth which is certainly different and the ending is very good.

As we wander through Canada, I think it is time for a quick Moosehead as the thirst is upon me:lmao:

Deb has a glass of Chardonnay, which I think is a Chateau Vinegar - it is vile, even I can't drink it:scared1:

Back at the room a quick Negro Modelo is enjoyed whilst Deb has a glass of wine and we relax for a bit, being rather bushed out. We get ourselves presentable, which always seems to take 10 time longer than me, not sure why and we decide to go to ESPN (well I decide and Deb hasn't got the heart to let me down!). Some wings and nachos are shared washed down liberally by a few Yuenglings and a couple of bourbons, Deb enjoys a coupld of glasses of wine.

We are watching the elections on a screen just in front of us, but are becoming somewhat weary, so decide to give up on the day and come back to the room. The day is rounded off by a Negro whilst watching CNN - as much as I want to watch all of the results I'm just too tired so we give in to sleep.

Dear Matt and Debbie,
The application and pamphlets from AA should be in your mailbox by the time you get home.
Love and hugs,
Susan

Thanks Susan, I knew we could rely on you!

Assume you are a very happy person today - despite OK voting Republican again.

Happy, yes indeed. Been voting for Democratic presidential candidates since 1968 with less than a 50% success rate. Was so excited last night that not only did my guy win, he won BIG and the counting process isn't going to drag out for days, that I was awake until nearly 3AM--not because it was a cliff hanger, but because I just didn't want such a spectacular day to end!
All our problems are still to be solved, but now we have hope of actually doing something to the good of the cause. Yes, yes, I'm happy.

Bus, bus, did someone mention a bus - surely not !!! Another great day both, the Wave looks very good ... I need to go take a lie down Matthew Churchill caught a bus. Keep having fun, its great hearing what you have been up to x

Ooh, I love the look of The Wave with all those lovely looking drinky-poos with my name on them ;)

Great pics again

I look forward to tomorrow's update Matt :thumbsup2

Ah, the dry desert that is MK! One of my family's fondest memories is of Mr Tee (aka DH Dick) asking for the wine-list in Tony's!!! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: This received a rather icy response from our server "Sir, there will be no alcohol in the Magic Kingdom!" Definitely a 'shall we get our coats' moment... We now take a certain perverse delight in filling our boots in one of the adjacent resorts and cavorting in Main Street USA... ;)

Oooh, Matt! I LOVE the look of the Wave - must try and get there in April... :thumbsup2 Keep up the boozework... :goodvibes

Thought you'd like the look of it Karen, we shall be giving it another go during this trip.

Tsk tsk - you are not trying hard enough!

I've nearly got a taste for that Beverley stuff now, though I think my taste buds are shot by now!

Glad you found yourselves a nice bar for your MK day - and just a short stroll away too - what a result

:lmao: LOL me too - I'm what I call an "ABC" person. Anything But Chardonnay.

I'm guessing you guys don't do car hire in Orlando!

The Wave looks nice. Great photo's. :)
