This section of our first park day will be much shorter as it was nearly 4pm by the time we exited Blue Lagoon. So after a longer than expected lunch we were once again out in the sunshine, Blue Lagoon provided us with a great meal but not sure we would go there again when we return. It was kind of a, been it, seen it, done it place and now to move on to somewhere else. Josh was starting to look very tired and as we wanted him to be awake for Candleabration Tracey took him off for a little push while the rest of us went on Pirates of the Caribbean, I would really like to see Cap’n Jack Sparrow added to this attraction, mainly because I don’t know when I will be returning to Florida to see it there. It’s all very good if a little bit dark, maybe it’s my eyes getting old or maybe it’s Disney trying to save on the electric bill but a lot of rides just seemed to dark this time around, this and Peter Pan being the worst culprits. When we once again returned to the day light, Tracey had returned and Josh was flat out.

It was time to think of what to do next and what we did next was the Haunted Mansion, taking advantage of Josh’s unconscious moments to do a child swap.

Tracey and I headed for the main entrance while Beth, Harry and the recumbent Josh headed for the exit to wait for us. I do like the façade of the Haunted Mansion, that whole old house on the hill thing. The queue line is a bit of an unorganised scrum but as it wasn’t busy this was not too much of an issue. I could not remember the pictures in the stretchy room so that bit felt quite new, the rest is pretty much the same as I remembered it with the half French, half English script on the ride through, remembered how much more scary it was when you were on your way to the graveyard and skeletons are climbing out of their coffins. We walked off the ride and the rest of our party was waiting for us at the exit, we took Josh and they took a doom buggy off on their trip.

While we waited outside I wandered off and took a few pictures around the grounds of the Haunted Mansion, which I have included below.

When I returned from my photo taking Josh was, if somewhat reluctantly, awake. He would have loved to have slept longer but we are awful parents and he is a nightmare to go to sleep on a night if he sleeps to long during the day, so he WAS staying awake. Time seems to have skipped at this point as we were now on our way to wait for Candleabration, it feels like we should have done something else but my memories and the photos say different. Beth and Harry needed to sit down and found a spot in the less capable seating section while us 2 healthy folk stood at the front and Josh perched himself on my shoulders.

Two of the fakest smile I have ever seen.

My son the hairdresser, I think not!!!!

There was quite a crowd by the time the festivities kicked off and Josh swapped to Tracey’s shoulders and I videoed the whole affair, below are is a photo of the crowd trying to get out afterwards.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lazydayz/2640966521/" title="DSCF3874 by LazyDayz, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3021/2640966521_e73dbd1d39.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="DSCF3874" /></a>

We waited around for a little while before even trying to negotiate the crowds that were streaming from the park. Waiting wouldn’t have been a bad idea if not for the fact that we now needed something to eat and the crowds at Disney Village were absolutely mental, everywhere had queues pouring out of the doors. So even though we vowed not to be eating any of Ronald’s food we found ourselves queuing with the rest of the day’s park visitors in a not so fast food service restaurant.

Tracey started queuing while Josh and I went for a wander around but you can only look at plastic elephants for so long and we returned to the Golden Arches to find that Tracey had not moved very far. It was decided that I would wait for the food while Tracey headed back to the Santa Fe.

I stood and chatted to another holiday maker from the UK about all things French, Disney and how slowly our queue was moving. To their credit the folks who wear the golden M and badges of merit were making there way through the queue taking orders and giving out tickets so you wouldn’t have to order at the counter. The downfall came that they only started putting together your order once you handed your ticket back in, if only they had been bagging it up as you waited the queue could have gone much faster. My big bag of protein, fat and carbs collected I made my way at full speed back to my very distant hotel room where we scoffed and drank our fill.

It was now around 9pm and really way past Josh’s bedtime, so after a lot of persuading he eventually fell asleep and Tracey not long after him, we had arranged to meet Josh’s friend for Breakfast at 7.30am and then to meet Beth and Harry at the park entrance at 8.30am so to the dulcet tones of Hannah Montana I fell asleep.
