The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

Is anyone planning to do anything fun to watch the Tonys? I usually watch at home with my family but I'm going to a friend's house to watch with her and her husband this year. Nothing fancy, but definitely fun.

We're having a Tony party with a bunch of theater loving friends. The girls are super excited to decorate with playbills from the shows we've seen this year and to make theme food. :)

No special plans this year really. I'll probably just join some friends and watch. The TONYS are the only thing I've never missed on TV in 20 years!

No plans here, don't have a ton of theater friends close by.

I am seeing two shows this week so that will be a nice lead in!

Blackbird and Fiddler.

I've already seen Fiddler but seeing it with my go to theater buddy, my aunt so I'm excited to compare notes.

Then I need to get some more shows booked, Only West Side Story at Papermill scheduled past this week.

So I saw Psycho on Friday. It was my second time seeing it, the first was in London. I liked it, but it does underwhelm. I'm sad it's closing as it's the kind of show that should stick around, but I'm not surprised it couldn't find an audience.

Seeing School of Rock this coming Friday. I'm honestly not that excited about it, the seats are partial view and I'm only going because I have a cousin visiting from out of town who wants to see a show.

Last year was the first year of my entire life that I haven't watched the Tonys (I was doing the DCP and had a 14 hour shift that day). Looking forward to getting back to it this year, although I'll probably do nothing special.

I'll be glued to my Mac trying to get tickets for Hamilton...:badpc:

Fingers crossed!

I just saw an announcement that "The King and I" will be closing on June 26.

Wow, the revival of South Pacific lasted longer. Guess it couldn't survive the loss of the original leads.

Interesting, because I've heard that Marin Mazzie is stunning as Anna. There are calls on the BWW forums for the best replacement Tony to be reintroduced for her!

I didn't see these productions, but I've seen both shows in Australia in recent years (South Pacific was a copy of the Lincoln Centre production though) and I thought South Pacific was a much better show and worked better for a modern audience.
