The Jungle Book is opening in Boston this summer; I wonder if it could be heading to Broadway after Aladdin?!
MissDisney121 said:So I just got home from the announcement event for the next broadway series here in Des Moines. I am pretty happy, there is a good mix of shows I love and shows I haven't seen. I have a few complaints though (listed below)
Here is what is coming here:
- Irving Berlin's White Christmas (I think this should have been an add on)
- The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess ( A classic I haven't seen so I'm pretty excited)
- Once ( this is the show I most hoped would come so I am ecstatic)
- We Will Rock You (I don't know much about the story but I love Queen so this should be good)
- The Phantom of the Opera ( this is the show I have a problem with. I am so glad it is coming hut it is not until september 2014 so I feel like it should be the first show of the next season since it is months after the second to last show of the season)
The add-ons are:
- Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty ( which has a gothic flair to it and looks really cool)
- Wicked ( very excited about this one. I've only seen it 4 times so I need to see it a couple more when it gets here)
- American Idiot ( another one I am very excited about )
- Rain
- Blue Man Group ( blah)
Sorry if no one on her cares about this list but I am just excited and kind of wanted to gent about what I'm not excited about.
My two passions met today. Constantine Maroulis sang the national anthem at Yankee Stadium today.

I guess it was " Spotlight on Broadway" opening day, since someone from Wicked sang "God Bless America" for the 7th inning stretch. I thought Constantine was good, but a bit over dramatic, but that's okay, it is true to how he was on Idol. The girl from Wicked....not so good. Saw Wicked twice, and I am sure she has to have a good voice to be in it, just didn't match the Stadium or sound system?
The world is slightly off kilter today....the Mets won and the Yankees lost yesterday![]()
The sing "God Bless America" for the 7th inning stretch? Whenever I've been to a game it was "Take me out to the ballgame"...
"God Bless America" precedes "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" at Yankee Stadium, and has since September 2001. The same was true at Shea/ Citi Field until last season.
Dd and I are seeing Flashdance tonight, we are very excited!
I was not looking forward to it and REALLY enjoyed it! How old is your daughter?
17which makes going to shows so much more fun, since we can see things like this, and BoM and Priscilla, and Rock of Ages!
Ahhhhhhhh ok![]()

Afraid I was taking a 10 year old?Sadly, we will probably see some. There was a 7 year old behind me when I saw Rent! And many young girls at the Pink concert I just went to. Makes me sad.
hah I wouldn't say afraid since I don't really care but I was curious - hahaJust if the child was younger I was gonna make sure you knew the content was very adult

I have seen the movie a gazillion times, so I figured it was. But after Book of Mormon, could anything be worse?. That is actually a huge peeve of mine, parents who don't pay attention to content before they take their kids to stuff, but that's a whole 'nother thread.
LOL well like I said I don't really care what the others do just so long as they know what they're gettig. I grew up watching HBO (all hours of it) and R rated films and it didn't scar me
... much
Hmmm haven't seen Book of mormon yet but Ave Q is pretty raunchy lol

Yes, the official Kate Smith version!
