The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

I don't think you're a member of the actual club, you probably signed up for the regular discounts. If you join, ALL tickets are $4.50. That's the point of the club. It's $100 to join for two-tickets and $120 for 4 (I think, we joined under the student discount) and then you get a years worth of tickets for $4.50 each. It's usually off-Broadway shows, but once in a while they throw up Broadway shows too!

ok, I'm not a member of the gold club just a regular member. When they offer
these discounts, are they for weekends or just weekdays??

They're usually for random days throughout the week, both weekdays and weekends. It's so worth it, I love TM :thumbsup2

Hey all,
I just found this thread and I would love to join in. I unfourtunately have not been lucky enough to see any shows on broadway but I have seen a few shows that have come here to Des Moines and hope to see many more. So far I have seen Phantom, Hairspray, Sweeny Todd, Drowsy Chaperone, Legally Blonde, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I have tickets for upcoming shows of Mamma Mia and Wicked. I would love to see Avenue Q, Spring Awakening, Rent, West Side Story and Aida and Last Five Years if they ever have revials.(sorry I'm so long winded I just have so many shows that I love)

We saw the Marvelous Wonderettes in December and loved it! It was on Theatermania for $4.50 a ticket so we weren't sure what to expect, but it was a really cute show with a lot of fun 50s and 60s music. The girls were all so talented too, I loved their voices!

ok, so I'm excited...got tickets to see the Wonderous Marvelettes
for our anniversary getaway next weekend. Billy Elliot was a first
choice but I refuse to buy seats that are not good for the same
price as those front rows!!! Got great seats for the marvelettes
and am really looking forward to it. Besides your good review of the
show I have seen a lot of positives so its a goooooo!!!!:woohoo:

I downloaded the soundtrack for the Marvelous Wonderettes, and I love it! I tried to see the show in February, but our plane was late getting into NYC. :(

I saw Blake Bashoff when he played Moritz on Broadway and he was very good. Not as strong as JGalls though, but still good.
Oh, that's good :goodvibes:

He and Kyle Riabko are the company members I look forward to seeing the most. Of course, nothing can top the OBC, but they are perfectly acceptable.

I saw Kyle last summer. He was great. Blake was out that day, though - his understudy Gerard was absolutely fantastic.

Gerard was the BEST! I didn't think anyone could beat Johnny but he did, he was incredible. I really liked Blake too though.

Gerard is dating Christy Altomare, who plays Wendla in the touring cast. They're so cute together :)

Seeing the last night performances on YouTube, Gerard and Emma (Hunton) certainly brought it home in Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind. Both were sobbing, and it was so gorgeous.

Thanks! Leaving around noon (about 10 minutes away) for the 1:00 matinee!

I'm SO excited! One of my best friends is going, too, and our seats are near each other

Have a great time, you're gonna LOVE it!

I'm just confused... aren't you seeing it in Providence? I thought we were on the same time zone but it's only 10AM here

Yes, LOL. I ment to say, the theater is 10 minutes away!

Ohhhh :lmao::lmao:

I'm so jealous, you're gonna LOVE the show!
I did!

Blake Bashoff: AMAZING. He was so, so cute. Not to mention a great singer and actor. (Mom referred to him as "The Boy Who Failed". You heard it here first. Moritz = Boy Who Failed.) He was really into character, spitting everywhere and doing the cutest happy dance!

Kyle Riabko: Pretty good. Toss-up between him and John Groff.

Christy Altomare: I loved her portayal of Wendla, as more of a headstrong girl.

Ben Moss: TOTAL cutie. I about fainted when I saw him onstage :lovestruc:

Anthony Lee Medina: Again, a cutie. He looked at me while singing a few times :faint:

Matt Shingledecker: Hilarious with the Adult Women as Georg!

Andy Mientus: Great as Hanschen; the good mix of creepy, lecherous, and seductive.

Claire Sparks: Was on for Thea today! She was decent, as Thea-s go.

Krystina Alabado: Couldn't see her, but she was on stage left.

Perry Sherman: Was on the same side as Krystina.

Lucas Wells: So cute. Was on stage right.

Julie Benko: On stage right with Lucas.

Chase Davidson: Wasn't on today :(

Gabby Garza: Pretty good as Anna (though Anna is a small part).

Sarah Hunt: Great as Martha.

Steffi D: Liked her as Ilse. Nothing can really beat Lauren, Emma, or Phoebe, but her Blue Wind was especially good.

Henry Stram: Good as the Adult Men.

Angela Reed: Great as the Adult Women. (Especially in My Junk)

The singing was all phenominal, the acting just as good. Loved Song of Purple Summer, Totally...F-d (ha), (Beep) Of Living, and Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind.

All in all, GREAT show. I highly recommend it (and I wanna go back!)

just got back from watching the Lion King traveling Broadway show. It was amazing.

I'm so glad you liked it!!! Blake was one of my favorites too! Moritz is my favorite character though, so I've loved all three actors. Kyle was good but I liked Hunter Parrish better. He has a nice voice though! Wasn't the lighting during Dark I Know Well reaalllyyyy cool? And that one part of "Those You've Known" I told you about... where Melchior sings acapella to just the beating of the drums :lovestruc I miss that show so much! We should meet halfway in Boston and go see it again

I'm glad you had a good time!
