I am definitely going to have to track down a copy of the 1965 version.

That is my mom's favorite version and I think it is pretty hard to find all of it.

So is there anyone planning on seeing "Big Fish the Musical" in Chicago or in New York when it hits broadway. I bought my tickets for chicago just on the fact that I love the story and Norbert Leo Butz but I wish they would release some tidbits of music. Has anyone heard anything about it?
Also has anyone seen the new Jekyll and Hyde? Is it any good? I'm seeing in March and I'm excited because I love Constantine but I don't really know anything about the musical other than the basic story.

I just got tickets for the March 6 show. I agree, it does look amazing.

Can't wait to hear if you like it! We are seeing it May 19th. Its a long way off but since we get tickets for the broadway shows as a group rate with friends we go whenever they do- for 39.00 a ticket I will wait till may- can't wait to hear what the next group play will be! I think this time around there are 75 of us going.

I'm just back from a weekend in New York and I saw three shows: Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking, Hands on a Hardbody and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. I really enjoyed all three!

I saw an earlier version of Forbidden Broadway about seven years ago in Boston and loved it then. Unfortunately the audience didn't. This time it was great to see it in New York with an audience that was theater-savvy and got the jokes. My friend and I laughed SO hard at certain parts (the Evita sketch and the Smash one, sketch in particular) and the cast was phenomenal and they NEVER stopped running around!

Before Forbidden Broadway we picked up rush tickets on a whim for the first

Anyway, my friend and I stopped at the box office for Hands on a Hardbody's first preview that afternoon before Forbidden Broadway and got rush tickets in the mid-mezzanine - great seats for this particular show. The show is based on the documentary of the same name and it focuses on 10 down-on-their-luck Texans in a contest to win a brand new truck, but they have to keep one hand on the truck at all times. I really enjoyed it, even though it was a bit long. I really liked the music and especially liked the choreography - they had the added challenge of having to keep one hand on the truck at all times, and they had to choreograph the show around this. Very well-done, but I am not sure if it will have a very long life.

Sunday we saw The Mystery of Edwin Drood, which I didn't know TOO much about - but it's loosely based on the Dickens novel, and since he died before he finished writing it, the show is written so that the audience votes for the ending - so basically you vote for the detective, the murderer and, just for fun, the lovers. It was SUCH a fun show, despite awful sound in the theater, and the cast (Stephanie J. Block, Will Chase, Jessie Mueller) is top notch. Since it's a limited engagement and closes next weekend, I am SO glad I got to see it!

I got to see Wicked on Wednesday for my first time ever! It was so incredible that I'm taking my Mom to see it again with me on Tuesday.

I've only been to Lion King (loved it!) and Mary Poppins previously so I'm not very savvy with things.

I have some questions that perhaps someone can help with -
1) How does stage door work? Does anyone know where to go at Bob Carr in Orlando?
2) If you win the lottery once, are you able to win it again on a different day?

I got to see Wicked on Wednesday for my first time ever! It was so incredible that I'm taking my Mom to see it again with me on Tuesday.

That is my favorite, we will see it for the 5th time this fall.

Interesting point. Have there been any movie musicals in the last 50 years that didn't start as Broadway shows? I say last 50, since I know during the era of Buzby Berkley, a lot of that genre were made as movies only.

I remember Xanadu as being hyped as the revival of the original movie musicals.

Newsies was an original movie musical. It wasn't originally supposed to be a musical, but Disney turned it into one after the success of their animated musicals. The main kids in the movie (including Christian Bale) had already been cast and most of them had never done a musical before, so they had to learn to sing and dance.

And then the movie bombed. I saw it in the theater, and my friend and I had the place to ourselves. But luckily it found a new life on home video and is now an awesome Broadway show.

I've seen the original film version of Once referred to as a musical as well.

I was at Wicked in Orlando last weekend.

1) stage door in Orlando is easy to find...there is an exit on the right hand side that takes you right out to it...it's in the back of the building. If you walk around actually there is a sign on the door that says Wicked stage door. You can also ask anyone at the theater about the location. But I sat on the right hand side and snuck out a side door that took me right to it.

2) My first time winning the lotto I won it 3 times in a row, two days straight. So yes it is very possible.

I will say be prepared to wait awhile for the lead girls to come out. They are also collecting for Broadway Cares you can donate out by the door, there was a table set up back there. The Glinda might shock you speaking outside the show, she is from London, England and covers her accent in the show. I have seen this cast in Orlando 15 times, they are some of the sweetest people you will ever meet.
