~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

:stitch:'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

Please join us on the 'Ohana team thread for the Monday Mixer. The Mixer starts here.

There are many reasons why we race. Sometimes it's a way to challenge ourselves. Sometimes it's a strategy to keep ourselves motivated. Sometimes it's a reason to reunite with old friends and meet new ones. And sometimes, just sometimes, it's about the goodies. :teeth:

This week's question is about those goodies:

What is your favorite medal/t-shirt/race-bag goody, and WHY?

So come on over to 'Ohana. Share with us your favorite pictures and stories. Brag about the bling. If you haven't done a medal-awarding event, tell us about a shirt. If you love a particular expo, we want to know why. And if you're new to races, visit anyway. You can get some ideas for future races and "ooh" and "ahhh" over the pretty, shiny things.

On a more serious note: Two of our 'Ohana cousins, Maria and Richard, could use some extra hugs, well wishes, and PD this week. If you've got the time, please let them know you're thinking of them.

Mike- I just wanted to hop on and say what a great time you ran too. Sorry you just missed your BQ due to that Jodi stop, but sounds like you should be in really good shape for Richmond. WTG! :thumbsup2

Mike~ Congratulations on an awesome race and a finish time that boggles my mind. I'll probably never see that... but I won't ever stop trying to get there to the BQ time. My goal is to break 4 hours this year at some point. Oh, by the way.. Kathy would like you to take more frequent showers now that she knows what you can really smell like. :rolleyes1

Cindy~ You ran an awesome half! Congratulations! :cool1: :cheer2: :yay: You ran a similar time to my WDW 1/2 this year. Of course, you weren't with some dude in green pajama pants like I was. :rolleyes1

The foot... yes, the foot. Still in an aircast. It is sore when I take it off, but it is sore from the cast, not the inner foot issue. So, I think that is a good thing (in a wierd, twisted kind of way). To use Jodi's favorite words... it is heinous, yet crappy. Honestly, I hope this thing is off on March 27 and things will start looking up for me.

Have a great evening!

Good Morning Everyone: :surfweb: I'm waking up and getting ready to meet Cindy and Matt for a morning run. Turns out their condo is literally right next door to the hotel I'm staying at here in Arlington, VA. We had a nice run yesterday morning. 5 miles on the trails they run. Other than that, I was in a conference room all day from 8am --> 7pm. That looks to be my schedule for today too. Cindy and Matt, if you're up and online... I need to change and I'll see you soon.

Howard, sorry the foot still isn't cooperating. I hope you can find some answers soon.

Lou, is this your second or third time for NYC marathon lottery?

Dave, hope you, Cindy and Matt enjoyed the run this morning. I have to find out which hotels are close to their condo so they can take Jeff out for runs and have us over for drinks, appetizers, a 4 course meal and maybe they can even provide a little childcare for us!:thumbsup2

Mike, have you recovered yet? Ready to run another marathon in a few weeks?popcorn::

Not much to report, yoga this morning and I hope to get out for a few miles this evening.

Hey Bottlings!

Dave - Way to get out there & motivate the other BOTS. You're like a motivational runner. Maybe you should be a trainer. Never mind this neuroscience flim flam :rotfl2:!

Cindy - Nice job on running 3 mornings in a row! RU really not running any marathons this year like you stated on FB?

Colleen - How's the work schedule going?

Howard - How's the foot? I'm almost afraid to ask.

Lou - Did you get any running in today? Still swamped @ work? It was nice chatting with you yesterday.

Hey to all you other non-posting peeps!

I got some new running shoes in the other day & took them out for a spin yesterday :thumbsup2. 6 then & 3 speed today.:confused3 My lower legs are becoming quite fatigued as I attempt to run faster. Apparently my form sucks when I speed up - gotta remember to limit it to 1x a week.

So are we all in for Baltimore or what? Don't forget, sign up before April 1 for the best price. I'll be signing up for the 1/2 this weekend!

Today's Spencer's birthday & I got him "Marathoning For Mortals" to train for the 1/2!:woohoo: We'll see how that goes when the time comes.

Good Morning Everyone: OK, it's almost 6:30am, and I'm not out running this morning. Cindy, Matt are you two out on the trail? I needed a rest day (or maybe some cross-training) after 3 days of running. I really need to thank Cindy and Matt. They really made my DC trip so much more bearable. If it weren't for them, I never would have gotten my runs in. I would not have gotten up at 5am 3 days in a row, and I would have been too beat after working all day to run. Plus, it was just great being able to get together with good friends. Thank you guys, you're the best. :thumbsup2

Jodi- Happy birthday to Spencer a day late. That's very cool about the Marathoning for Mortals. Let us know how he likes it. So is he doing the half in Baltimore too? Will you both run together. Who's planning on doing the full in Baltimore? I was thinking that would be my full for the year.

Colleen- Did I hear that you were coming to Baltimore too? Are you sharing a room with Jodi?

Howard- Wishing you all the best with your foot.

Jen- Are you going to be joining us in Baltimore?

I registered for the Baltimore 1/2 the other day:thumbsup2 Happy Birthday to Spencer :bday: I hope he liked the book:love:

Howard - Travel safe and have a great time with Jenn:lovestruc Hoping the foot's improving:hug:

Cindy - WTG:yay:

I did actually do 8 miles on Sunday and was happy with that:hippie: Looking to squeeze in 10 on Sunday despite the forecast of rain:rolleyes1

Hey man, don't I get a say in this??? I'll ask The Cloud if he'd mind.:rotfl:
Sorry, for some reason I thought I heard that. I think it was when Colleen was saying she was waiting for you to come up with the hotel.

So, is anyone gonna take advantage of free dining this year???popcorn:: Um, it falls over the nights that they're having "Expedition Everest Challenge"!:scared1: Does this mean that I need to go AGAIN?:sad2:

I was just going to ask this!!!

I thought your days fell somewhere in here. I think we might change our dates from early August to the beginning of free dining, then I won't be tempted to buy those heinous AP's.:lmao:

I am waiting for DH is email me back to find out if he is going to be in the country the third week in August.

Dave: Great to hear that you, Matt, and Cindy were all good influences on each other and got some nice runs in.

So Baltimore sounds like the fall Bot race... tempting, not too far from home for us although a little bit close on the heels of the Philia ING half. We'll ponder this one :scratchin but would love to join the BOts running the 1/2.

Not much new around here except for work being completely crazy. By the time I get home at night I'm too exhausted to do much of anything-- did manage to get in 9 miles on Tuesday and 5 yesterday-- tonight is all about resting

Hello everyone in Botville!

I am going to be away from tomorrow night through SUnday night so I thought I'd write a note to say hello. There is absolutely nothing going on in the world of fitness in my life at this time. I am bummed about it, it is wickedly heinous in my book.

My foot is still booting it as I type. I am not aware of any progress towards recovery. I do have some discomfort in the foot when I have the boot off, but it is not the same pain as what I went to see the podiatrist for. So, I am kind of feeling my way along here. I see the podiatrist on Tuesday of next week.

In between now and then, I am flying with my son, Andrew, tomorrow evening to WDW to visit with my daughter, Jenn, for the weekend. We are staying at SSR and hope to visit the MK and Epcot.

It is a real under statement, but I hope to be back among you active people running, slacking off and generally being a BOT. I miss it.

I will probably not be able to post tomorrow before I leave. Our flight is at 7:10 PM from PHL. We arrive in MCO at around 9:55 PM.

Enjoy your weekend!

Colleen - This is my second NYC lottery. We'll see.

Cindy - Glad to see you back out there running.

Jodi - Very nice chatting with you this week.

Colleen - Great job with the 8 miles. Looks like you are getting back on track.

Jen - The PDR does fall a little close to Baltimore. It will just have to be treated like a step back week or a training run for Balt. Good job with the 9 miles. Whats your next race?

Howard - Sorry about the foot...give it time. Glad you are getting to make a trip to WDW.

Dave - Did I hear you are on the Disneyland podcast this week? I'll try to listen to that tonight.

Hey everyone else.

Kind of dragging today. Allergies are beginning to kick in and work has been rough this week (not complaining). Ran 4 miles on Tue and Wed and will get in 4 again today. I have the Ocean Drive 10-miler on Sunday. Looking forward to running along the ocean.

My plan for Baltimore is this: if I get picked for NYC then I will NOT be running the Baltimore Marathon (may run the 1/2). If I don't get picked for NYC then the Baltimore Marathon is the big race of the Fall for me.

How bout those Villanova Wildcats? I have my 1985 Wildcats banner hanging in Louie's bedroom. As a typical Philly sports fan I always have to root for the Big-5 teams in the NCCA tourney. I even have a meeting at Nova next week.

Gotta run...literally.

Lou
