The "Boo to Us" Weight Loss Challenge

Well, I wound up paying for Monday with about 2 lbs backward. I'm almost back to where I was Sunday, but tonight we're going to dinner at Napa Rose. Hopefully it won't set me back as far as the Monte Cristo.

Otherwise I've been doing OK. I had 2 slices of bacon and an egg with a glass of V8. Lunch was two spicy tuna handrolls, without the rice, with cucumber. Dinner is a 5:30 this evening which is kind of early for us, but it was better than 8:30.

We'll see how I am tomorrow morning on the scale.

Okay. I forgot that the local bike club uses the velodrome on Saturday mornings. Got there....just barely 7 am and there were all these lycra clad men riding round. Ignoring the distraction, I put plan B in motion. Headed round the park a couple of times....and also managed to attempt 2 laps round the park. I won't say I ran all the way....lets just say that running and me? We were never bosom buddies; but I'll persevere with this plan for the next 14 days.

Morning done.....afternoon promise to go.......for today.

Day 1 of 14 Staycation.

I made it through the day without falling off the wagon.

If you recall.... My aim for the two weeks:
  • Ride to the local park morning and night with DS. Once there, run at least 3 laps round the football oval.
  • Eat modestly; and keeping portion sizes to modest WW expectations.
  • Tummy and leg exercises from home every night.

I did manage to squeeze in 3 bike rides to the park. For the morning and evening rides, I only managed to get 2 laps round the oval...half walk, half jog. I got in a shorter bike ride only trip before lunch, which was a bonus.

My food was pretty good today; and I think I've counted 19 WW points today.

Just need to do the tummy and leg exercises, which I will do shortly.

I think that's still pretty good PIO! I am continuing on with my "Mile a day" mentality. Jack and I went ot our local greenway and walked. I am not sure how far we walked (we managed to pick the one path that didn't have mile markers) but we walked pretty quickly (no dog this time) and we walked for 34 minutes at a very steady pace (literally 17 minutes out and 17 minutes back). I would like to say we walked 2 miles, but that would be optimistic, but at least a mile and a half. Jack has developed a cough though, so hopefully it won't keep him from being able to keep up! He does complain a lot, he doesn't love the walks, but I tell him it's practice for Disneyland and then we spend our walk talking about vacation. I think Monday we will go to the zoo instead and just walk around there, a change of scenery will be good.

Thanks Steph.

You sound like you're doing well yourself! :thumbsup2

How's Jack's cough?

Day 2 of 14 Staycation - Retrospective

I didn't exactly fall off the wagon for Day 2....I was coming in to post last night but got real bad stomach cramps; so I went to bed early! It has been a looooong day anyway. :faint:

On Day 2, I managed the following of my aims:
  • Rode to the local park in the morning with DS. No running...DS was not going to have a bar of that. I managed to cycle for about 30 minutes round the velodrome.
  • Rode to the local park at night....didn't get very far; just about 3 laps round the park and all in all, about 20 minutes of cycling.
  • No Tummy and leg exercises. :sad2:

The reason for the lack of tummy exercises was the stomach cramps. I'd like to think that I would have done it if it weren't for that.

We went to the Royal Melbourne Show on Day 2, which was why I was real tired. We were there for about 8 hours in total...and I reckon I was walking for at least 6 of those hours. The Royal Melbourne Show is probably equivalent to a State Fair; so lots of attractions, carnival rides, animals and shows to see.
Needless to say, the food is also pretty plentiful at the Show. I didn't do too badly, but I didn't count WW points either. Figured I was going to take a break but not stupidly indulge.

Day 3 of 14 Staycation

Today, DS and I went to the Melbourne Zoo. Like Steph has pointed out, a change of scenery was required and we decided that with the weather being fine and sunny, today was the day for it.

Thankfully, when I woke, there were no more cramps or pains in the stomach. I can't say the same for the rest of my muscles.....but it's a good kind of pain.

I managed to achieve the following aims today:
  • Rode to the local park morning and night. DS only went with me in the morning. Because I've been walking so much, I've decided to ease back on the running. To be really truthful, running and me....we probably mix in completely different circles and never the twain shall meet.
  • I've managed to eat modestly; portion sizes within WW expectations and I've counted 21 points today.
  • Tummy and leg exercises from home every night - on the list for tonight....a little bit later

I'm heading back to the Royal Melbourne Show solo tomorrow. DS is booked in for a mostly all day holiday activity (tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday)...so I get to do what I want. We ended up with an extra ticket for the show and there are a number of items that I saw at the show that fit a photography scavenger hunt. Need to head back to get them.....yes, I would have got them on Sunday except that the list only got posted today!

ps. I weighed in this morning on my home scales. Looks like I've definitely lost that 0.5 kg or 1 lb that I thought I'd lost last week. In fact, my scale now says I'm closer to having lost a whole 1 kg or 2 lbs in the last month. Definitely much better feeling than gaining weight!

Well with my parents here, we have been having an "Eat Fest" which isn't likely to stop for the week. The Oktoberfest is Wednesday night and then we're staying out at DL Friday and Saturday with a fantastic meal Saturday night.

Friday we'll be eating at the Tiki Bar at the DL hotel. The good thing is that I am not gaining. Just not losing.

Yesterday I had a glass of V8 for breakfast, half a Chicken Salad Sandwich for lunch, and then had Shabu Shabu for dinner. Normally I order the "large beef" which is 18 slices. I was considering ordering "the Jack" which is 22 slices (they have a King Kong which is 34 slices! :scared1:). My mom ordered the large shrimp and scallops and couldn't finish 2 of each so I ate them. I ate all my meat (I save two slices to tear up and put in the soup), and then I drank my whole bowl of soup! I NEVER can finish the soup. Then we even had Apple Pie ala mode once we got home!

At least I didn't gain anything, but still, not so good. So far it's 2PM and all I've had is a glass of V8 and a cup of coffee. I just don't have any appetite for the stuff I'm supposed to eat. Tonight we're having Beef Stroganoff with the leftover Prime Rib. Beef, onions, mushrooms, sour cream. Sounds like meat and veggies to me! :lmao:

Day 4 of 14 Staycation - Retrospective

Day 4 of my staycation is a re-hash of Day 2. I went to the Royal Melbourne Show - only by myself. DH and DS had something on and we had a spare ticket. So, with a photography scavenger hunt in mind, I was there for about 5 hours in total...and I reckon I was walking for most of those hours. I got to see a few more shows and also indulged in the food on offer at the Show.

On Day 4, I managed the following of my aims:
  • I did do some riding - in the city for an electric company promotion. Cycle HARD for 2 minutes and get a free Aussie Rules football (valued at $60). The football was flourescent lime green in colour. :rotfl:
  • Did my Tummy and leg exercises.

I figured with all the walking and the fact that my knees were feeling sore, I was going to give myself a little break from cycling.

Day 5 of 14 Staycation

Today ended up being a stay at home day. We had light dizzle from about 11 am and kept drizzling until 3 pm; where there was a loud thunder and fantastic lightning show AND RAIN! Good old fashion rain, rain, rain and more rain. It's nearly 10 pm and the rain has finally slowed down to a drizzle again.

I managed to achieve the following aims today:
  • Rode to the local park morning only.
  • I've managed to eat modestly; portion sizes within WW expectations and I've counted 19 points today.
  • Tummy and leg exercises which I will be doing very shortly after I post this (and check a couple more threads).

I don't know if I'll be doing much riding for the next couple of days...more rain is forecast. But I'll be doing what I can, when I can.

Well, I am managing to keep at the "mile a day challenge"! Jack's cough is pretty much cleared up.

Saturday we got my dad to walk with us and we went back to the greenway and walked on the path that is marked, so I know we walked 2 miles. Then we went to Cheeseburgers in Paradise for dinner :lmao: My dad and I split a BBQ cheddar burger and a salad, and the salad was suepr healthy, so I don't feel too guilty...

Sunday work was CRAZY as my partner in crime and I had to put a blanket in each hotel room... We have 258 rooms... We didn't get all of them done, but it was a lot of back and forth down the halls and pushing a heavy cart, so I am pretty sure I got in over a mile just in that, not including the many miles I walk daily for my job. Plus we had company for dinner so I let Jack skip a walk (which means I got to skip it too :lmao:)

Monday I had an early meeting with my "tax guy" regarding the new travel agency business I am part of, and then Jack and I headed to the zoo! We probably walked about 2 miles, but not quickly.

Last night we did our normal 1 1/2 mile loop. I ate really unhealthy Mexican food for lunch, but was still so full all I had for dinner was an apple and peanut butter.

So far today I have had some grapes and a hard boiled egg and a cup of coffee. I am having an apple and peanut butter for lunch. Hopefully Jack won't be so whiny about walking today... he's not always a fan of our long walks.

Sounds like you're doing great! :thumbsup2

And your ticker is looking really exciting! :yay: Have you seen Mickey Mail yet?

Day 6 of 14 Staycation

WOW! The days are just seeming to roll by quickly. Today, DS and I went out to see a movie. An Australian movie called Red Dog. Can I admit that I cried a lot? :sad2:

Yesterday's RAIN did not go away today. Yup, more rain. We effectively had our 4th wettest September day ever yesterday. About 50 mm or 2 inches of rain fell in about 4 hours and there's been a steady drizzle all day today. Unfortunately, that has meant that bike riding is completely out of the picture.

I managed to achieve the following aims today:
  • I've managed to eat modestly; portion sizes within WW expectations and I've counted 20 points today.
  • Tummy and leg exercises.

I don't know if I'll be doing much riding for tomorrow...more rain is forecast.

PIO- I DID get Mickey Mail!!! I love the little booklet they sent for the cruise. Once things slow down (if that ever happens) I am going to post pics on my PTR of it. Much better than any other cruise documents I have ever gotten!:goodvibes

Jack and I didn't walk yesterday because I had errands to run before dinner at our friends. I went to Target to get... Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred DVD. I have heard lots of people say it has worked for them and coincidentally I have 30 days until my trip! :lovestruc I don't expect to LOOK like Jillian Michaels at the end :lmao: but it should help. What I like most is they are only 20 minute workouts. I really have very littel free time, so 20 minutes a day is about all I can spare. Plus Jack and I will keep walking. So hopefully that will help since the ribs, beansm cornbread and chocolate chip cookies our friend made for dinner last night certainly didn't!

You'll have to show the cruise doco. I don't think I've ever seen any.

:yay: fo Mickey Mail! :thumbsup2

Day 7 of 14 Staycation

Today, I headed into the city early and didn't get a chance to head out for a morning ride. The reason? It's the day before the Australian Rules Football Grand Final and there were heaps of activities to attend in the city. So, I did a LOT of walking today....

The rain did go away today.....stayed away in the morning but returned in force by about 3 pm. Yup, more rain. And it has continued to rain until after 8 pm; so no evening ride either.

I managed to achieve the following aims today:
  • I've managed to eat within WW expectations and I've counted 22 points today.
  • Tummy and leg exercises.

I hope to finally be able to get out tomorrow....but more rain is expected.

So I am pretty sure Jillain Michaels is trying to kill me. Or else the video is working :lmao: It was rough yesterday, but I am going to keep with it. Part of the problem was I hadn't drank any water and I didn't have any with me. Jack and I had JUST completed our walk as well, and I am thinking I might need to space the two out? I am also going to use lighter hand weights for a bit until I feel more confident and have more stamina, then I will go back to the 5 pounders :goodvibes I can definitely feel it though, which means it's working! Now I just have to COMMIT COMMIT COMMIT!

We have a family reunion tonight and we are having a taco bar, which isn't too unhealthy and also there will eb no alcohol so I won't be tempted. I ahve 2 drinking days prior to my trip, the 9th and the 13th (wedding and book club) but I have been strong so far...

Stay strong! :thumbsup2

I managed to "shred" again yesterday, but alas did not have time for a walk too. I ate more than I should have at the dinner, but nothing too horrendous, and I didn't even drink any soda, which I really wanted to, I stuck with water! I had oatmeal from McDonalds today (it's delicious) and some coffee. Because my aunt is in town this weekend, we will probably do something tonight, rumor has it we might be having pizza... so I will try and be healthy for lunch! I also have to make time to "shred" again today. My cousins girlfriend told me the second day of a new exercise routine is the hardest, so that means it should be easy today! :lmao:
