The "Boo to Us" Weight Loss Challenge

I actually weighed myself this morning and I wanted to cry. I hadn't weighed myself in a while, I just knew I had gained because NONE of my pants fit right, but I had no idea it was so bad. I weigh more now than I ever have except while pregnant. I actually weigh more now than I did for probably the first 4 months of my pregnancy. This is the end of the line, this HAS to stop! Of course I had Chinese for dinner last night (I weighed myself this morning before I left for work) though I will say I was much more careful about portion size than I usually am. And my sister brought home gelatto for dessert. But all that stops now, I had a WW breakfast sandwich and I have had 1 Starbucks Via iced coffee and I am having a regualr cup of coffee, with 1/2 the creamer I would normally have. I will be having edamame and water for lunch. And I will still go to Mongolian BBQ tonight, but any thoughts I had about getting an adult beverage are gone. And I WILL be exercising tonight and every night from now on. I am so mad at myself right now for letting it get to this point, but at least I can use that anger as motivation!!! It's on!

:grouphug:

This morning, I stepped on the scales for the first time in a about 2 months. I was shocked to see that I had actually lost about 1- 2 kilos from the last time. I guess my partially being good over the last month must have had some benefit. But I'm still about 7 - 10 kilos away from where I'd like to be. But at least I have a baseline to work from again.

So ladies....it's on. We're all here to support each other.

I'm finding it impossible to make it to WW. Our schedule has changed at home and Monday nights, which used to be weigh in nights for me, are not completely not possible to get to. I either need to find another location with a time that suits me or I should just quit trying to think I'm making it to another weigh-in.

For now, I'm sticking with less portion sizes, increasing my activity and trying to cut down on my sweet snacks.

I've basically been good, but still really don't see results. Yesterday I had my standard bowl of cereal, glass of V8, and applesauce. For lunch I had a 350 calorie nuclear meal. Dinner was chilled melon soup, chicken teriyaki meatball kebabs & rice. I did have a slice of angel food cake. :rolleyes1 I had a couple buffalo wings for a midnight snack.

Today so far I've had a turkey patty melt, and I'm just about to eat an orange. I did see my Chiropractor this morning and his treatments are more of a workout (unless I have a specific muscle complaint). I'm hoping getting back to strength training helps too!

Today, I've been basically good. Started with coffee and toast but went out to a (Hari Krishna) vegetarian restaurant for lunch. They had the vegie lasagna and green salad on special. I swear that there is something addictive about the vinaigrette dressing they use.

And then home for a baked jacket potato with cheese, baked beans, coleslaw and guacamole.

Now I'm sitting wanting to snack; so I figured I'd come and post here instead so that I stay motivated. Will grab a glass of water instead.

I have done prett well the past couple of days. Went out as planned Sunday night but managed to stick to water with my meal and only one bowl of Mongolian BBQ, which was pretty healthy. When Jack and I got home we took a loooooooong walk, I'd say about 1 1/2 miles, with the dog. Jack did great and didn't aske me to carry him once (not that I would have, he's a big boy!) and even though it took us a while, it' was a great exercise. Yesterday was busy busy busy, we went to my grandparents in the morning where she fed us quiche (I only had one slice and didn't eat the crust), salad, and deviled eggs (I only had 3 but it was killing me). Then for dinner we had rotisserie chicken (I didn't eat the skin) and Kona Salad (recipe from Kona Cafe). I did have a Wildberry Lemonade from Wendy's (Jack had a chocolate shake) and I did have 1 Corona with dinner and 2 small lemon squares, so nto completely good but not horrible. Today I woke up feeling like I might die from my headache, and then managed to make it to the mall for lunch with my mom. The place we normally eat was closed so I had a bratwurst, but only ate 1/2 the bun and skipped the fries, and had water. For dinner I am having peanut butter and jelly and some soup, since I am still not feeling 100%, but I am doing well and only drinking water. NO SNACKING today :rotfl: I also bought a lunch box that came with these great containers so I can take stuff to work for lunch. Of course I have been doing that, but this way I will be able to make a more balanced lunch and be motivated to do it, since I have my cool new lunch bag :goodvibes

Here are pics of my fabulous new lunchbox:

Inside are a PB&J sandwich on 45 Calorie and Delightful bread (Sarah Lee), 1 cup of fruit loops, and one 100 Calorie Pack of pretzel sticks. A fellow travel agent recently lost 60 pounds, and when I asked her if she had any advice she said she just counted calories and got more active. I am going to try this method, and see if it helps. WW has helped in the past, but there is a lot of work involved, so I am trying this simpler approach to see how it goes! I had a cup of milk and a WW breakfast sandwich, a Starbucks Iced Via instant coffee, and now am munching on the fruit loops. Last night I was even better than I planned to be, I ended up having 4 pieces of toast and a banana for dinner (again on the 45 calorie bread), plus we walked a mile and a half again!

Well I didn't eat great yesterday, but overall calories I probably did OK. I had a shrimp wonton noodle soup around 1PM, a quarter pounder with cheese, a few fries and a slice of birthday cake at band. I had planned on eating a leftover piece of chicken from Monday nights dinner once we got to the hotel in Tulare. We never made it there.

After sitting on the side of the road for an hour, by the time we left the car at the dealership and got to the hotel there was no place open (or nearby) to get anything to eat! The hotel breakfast was so bleak, I found a yogurt and a bowl of cereal. The brown colored water they were trying to pass off as coffee was absolutely disgusting.

Let's hope lack of food translates into weight loss.

Steph - that is a very cute lunch bag! I love the bag it comes it.

Thursday morning here. I was reasonable with food yesterday...except for lunch. A work girlfriend wanted to go to the Pub for lunch; so we went there. I ended up with a huge Chicken Parmagiana, with french fries. But we made up for it. We ended up deciding to play hookey from work for an extra hour and went for a 5 km walk instead.

Today is a whole new day of being good and staying within portion sizes.

I just downloaded "My Fitness Pal" on my phone. It tracks my calories and excercise so I can keep track of how much I'm eating. It also told me what my daily calorie goal should be in order to lose wieght based on how fast I want to lose it. Unfortunately there wasn't an option for "overnight" :lmao:

Reasonably good with my food today.

I started with breakfast of 2 slices of toast and honey and coffee. I meet up with a friend of mine on Thursday morning after the school drop-off and had a skinny latte.
Lunch was an avocado sandwich....I squeezed a couple of drops of lemon juice over it with salt and pepper. So good!

Dinner was the main meal today. DS wanted to go buy something from the mall, so we ate at the food court there. I got a Hainanese chicken (steam or poached in chicken stock) with rice. I ate about half the rice - it was a huge serve to begin with; but finished all the chicken.

I couldn't help myself when we came home....and indulged in 1 chocolate Tim Tam biscuit with some hot water. Still can't kick the habit of that late sweet snack...YET!

Hope you are all sticking with your plans!

I did pretty well last night, we went to a friends for dinner and she served chicken, mexican rice and salad. I went light on the rice, but I did have a piece of peach tart.

Today I have had a breakfast sandwich, glass of milk, and I am getting ready to have my first cup of coffee. I have to go check on my employees soon and I will be taking the stairs to do so, so I will be even more tired when I get back down!

Cute lunch box Steph! And that app sounds interesting!

PIO that pub sounds interesting...Chicken Parm? :confused3. I would think Fish&Chips, Shepherd's Pie...

I was real good yesterday which is sort of surprising considering the night before! The hotel breakfast was crappy, but I didn't give in to the cinnamon rolls or carbs! I had a 4oz yogurt,2 glasses of orange juice (I think they added sugar), and a bowl of (probably sweetened) corn flake like cereal.

That was it for like ever...we had a late lunch at Applebee's where I had the 380 calorie sirloin steak with steamed potatoes and veggies. I ate everything but the carrots, and I was still hungry! We drove 4 hours back home (switching cars in Bakersfield) and made a stop at Jack in the box where I had an egg roll (only 150 calories surprisingly!). We stopped for dinner around 7PM at a Mongolian BBQ in my old college neighborhood. (Partially inspired by Steph's recent meal, partially by a coupon we had!) I loaded my bowl with tons of veggies, only a few noodles, hardly any oil, and since we got the one bowl only option, I have a great breakfast. I put some chili oil in there so it had a bit of kick, but not too bad.

I am at a plateau, but yesterday I got that "visit" so I'm hoping by next week I'll have some water loss which will translate into weight gain. Being that it is now Sept. 1st I have less than 4 weeks until the event where I want to fit into this dress! When do you folks think I should make my 2nd attempt to try on this dress?

Here's a dilemma..between now and then I have at least two event meals coming up. One this Monday, and one three weeks from tomorrow! Yikes!

I LOVE Mongolian BBQ. It's just so easy and yummy. Mmm Mmm!

As for the dress, I would probably say give it 2 more weeks. That way your first event meal will be out of the way. You will just have to be careful at the second! :goodvibes

This looked like a fairly good thread to introduce myself and get involved since my wife and I also have a "boo" timetable for our next trip. I've gotten rather used to being one of the few men in a weight-loss venue. I've let myself stall out on the weight loss front since my last visit.

I was never "pooh-sized." Pooh would have looked at me and patted my belly with a look of wonderment and asked where ever did I find so many honey jars. I was 406 lbs at my worst. With the health problems that come with that and the prospect of my first WDW trip in over a decade and the first with my wife, something needed to be done. We started just by walking more and eating less and about 50 lbs came off for that trip...but it still beat the heck of us both. We joined Weight Watchers for a while and had very good success until I decided that weight-loss wasn't enough, I wanted to be fit again. We began running, ran a few 5k races and liked it.

So we began training for the (now last year's) Wine & Dine Half-Marathon. We trained hard, had a great time and felt very proud of ourselves. Then things went a little sideways. When a workout churns through 1000-2200 calories, it's tough to continue to lose weight AND have enough energy. So I pretty much stopped losing weight. In the lead-up to the half, I lost over 160 lbs, in the year since, only another 9.

So, we are headed back to WDW and I want to be the leanest and fittest I have ever been. I've been eating Chris Carmichael's eating program, running my butt off and feeling good about me.

Currently: 237 lbs. and looking to lose about another 50 lbs. more.

That's quite an accomplishment! I wish I could run or do more physical. We recently revived this thread from about a year ago as many of us have a need to get back on track. We'll help you out the best we can! Welcome!

Thanks!
I hope to be able to give as good as much or more than I get. I'm currently HIGHLY motivated. Not only do I have an impending mouse trip but I have a Spartan Sprint soon and the week after that, I do the training for my running coach certification.

I'm on a mission.

I'm with Steph. Wait a couple of weeks.

Chicken Parmagiana or Chicken in Pyjamas is a chicken schnitzel topped with ham, cheese and napoli or marinara sauce. :scratchin I forgot that this is not standard over there. Next time I order it, I'll have to remember to take a picture and post. Pubs will offer it on special here as "Parma and a Pot".
