Madamluc - you did specify for sure you want 2 queens right? When we checked in a boardwalk view was made available to use b/c a family of 5 couldn't fit in there b/c it was a King bed. How they got in a King room I don't know but they ended up not staying as no doubles were available..I often wonder if they got my room that night b/c I was to have two doubles...but anyway I did say 2 doubles on my reservation and was still given a King room. However I had 3 people vs. your 5...Are you getting a deluxe rom?

Actually, no, I didn't specify 2 queens. I just assumed () that because there's 5 of us that's what we'd get. Now, of course, I'm incredibly nervous. In hindsight, I should probably have booked a deluxe room but I couldn't justify the cost to myself (or my DH). We've always squeezed into a regular room at the Polynesian and the GF just fine so I figured, though the deluxe room would be nice, it just wasn't necessary. Now, I realize, that would have guaranteed my boardwalk view as well as giving us a lot more room. We're not the type of people that miracles pixiedust: occur for so I'm doubting that we'll be experiencing a surprise upgrade.
In the end, we'll be at the BWI, we're staying CL, and the rest is gravy.:woohoo:
Thanks for the room numbers, I think I can figure this out from your explanation.

mhalpern - did you know the boardwalk bakery was counter service? We loved their paninis (spelling? but those italian style sandwiches)...DD loved their kids meal....They had a good salad there too.

scottmel - thanks, we did order a few times from the bakery but I guess we would have preferred a CS restaurant with more options and room to sit down. Oh well, to each his own. I'm glad you enjoy it there so much! We didn't have a bad time it justed wasn't "it". We'll have to keep searching until we find the perfect resort for us. :thumbsup2

Keep in mind though the DELUXE rooms are on the 3rd floor so you would have to travel up the stairs to go to the Club Lounge. I am funny about that. If I am paying Club rates, I want to stay in the secured locked door area next to the lounge etc. Not fool with up and down an elevator. To ease your mind, call the Itinerary Office, not the regular disney ressie line, and just specify double beds. I mean you are right if they see 5 people on there, come on, what else would they give you? But just to feel 100% about it do that.. I couldn't justify the cost either for a Deluxe and truthfully I only want 4th floor so it wouldn't even "excite me" to get an upgrade to one. Well I am sure it would but I wouldn't be jumping out of my skin about it...This was our first year in a LONG time to stay in a standard hotel room - we normally rent DVC points for a 1 bedroom but honestly I felt the space was great. Granted I have 3 people but still, I felt it plenty roomy, etc. And I also liked that there was a spare bathroom next to the Inn Keepers Club - very nice bath - and I tended to use that a bit b/c DH takes LONG showers and I hate feeling steamy in a bathroom. It was hot enough in Florida! So it was kind of like having an extra bathroom if you needed it!

Also if it makes you feel any better, we didn't take the Boardwalk View. I ended up holding out on the garden room. I just didn't want to take the chance of nighttime noise with DD9...

Oh Clare whatever am I going to do???? I am back at BWI now but then I keep thinking about YC and they told me a CM would be in there, etc. and sounds like some disappointments Kerry experienced are being addressed. I simply cannot call those people again. I am going to wait until next week, called the IP office again and ask if they have pictures of the new area! I am nuts or what.....And then quiz them on the issues Kerry had...I told DH I switched back to BWI and he was ok with it but I think a little disappointed as he is more apt to try new things than me!! If I see any pics or find out anything on YC I will let you know! Yep that little service road. I could see some type of vehicle area from 4206, just a slight hint of pavement but no view of the area and I bet that is exactly what it was. I am so bad visualizing something...I adored my garden view and had I not had your words ringing in my head I would have moved to that room unknowingly!!

CLARE - who was your favorite CM? I really liked Pete....

SRUgirl - I live in CRanberry! LIke 30 minutes from Slippery Rock. Small world! Have an awesome time at the BWI! PLEASE post all details when you get back, as well as the room number info and view. Anxious to hear your take on it too!

The deluxe rooms are located on both the 3rd and 4th floor. I actually would rather have a 3rd floor room, but then again I don't travel with children, mine are grown and married.

scottmel, I hope you are able to get answers to your questions. The YC lounge is very small also. You should ask if they are extending it.

Oh geez Kerry are you sure about BWI? I spoke with the IPO and voiced my concern about being assigned a king room again and maybe ending up on the 3rd floor. she assured me that if you wanted a standard double bed club room (I guess you could do king), it had to be 4th floor as the 3rd floor were either King or deluxes. I went over this twice with her. UGH. Do you think it could have changed iwth the refurb in 2008 hence your info is incorrect or do you think the IPO girl is off base...

I am so positive about the deluxe rooms! I have stayed in both 3rd and 4th floor deluxes. You have to remember the cast at the IPO is not located at the BW. They are at the YC.

UGH. Ok Kerry just when I have it down pat...Can you help me out here? Would it be fair to say that there are NO regular club level rooms on the 3rd floor with 2 queen beds? This I was told as a fact per the kind CM at the IPO. She had the room chart pulled up and everything. I may have assumed the Deluxe only on the 3rd when she told me that only the 4th level had the 2 queen beds hence her assuring me obtaining the 4th floor would not be a problem for me b/c the 3rd floor housed deluxes only in CL. Meaning if I wanted a 2 queen room, I was on the 4th floor no matter what on CL...Make sense? Please tell me THAT at least is true...

Yes, the standard rooms with 2 queens are on the 4th floor. If you want 2 queens you will be on the 4th floor.
I am sending you another PM with some information!

:thumbsup2 Cool! We've been 'talking' all this time and I never knew :) I don't live up there anymore, but I spent my whole life there and all of my family is still there :goodvibes

Your awesome Kerry! You have mail too! thanks so much. Melissa
SRUgirl - how funny is that! I live right off Rt 19! Small small world! :) Now get packing so you can report back to us!:goodvibes

That's exactly what I was just doing :thumbsup2 My family is driving here tomorrow, and then we'll leave for WDW Sunday morning!

Quick Question:
I have emailed IPO with our room requests, and have received an email back confirming that they have received our requests and have made notes of them on our reservation. Should I email again tomorrow morning just to reiterate them, or is that being annoying and overkill? I normally call our resorts the morning we're checking in to re-state our requests, but I've felt with IPO that it's a more personal service and there are less people they're handling, so I thought maybe it wouldn't be necessary to remind them 'again.' ;) When do they assign rooms? Thanks to anyone who can offer suggestions :goodvibes

No need to call again. Rooms have already been assigned. Your good to go.

Oh, wow! I guess I didn't realize they assigned the rooms this early. I guess since there are only 12 deluxe rooms (and they're all booked) they know that nothing is going to change as far as bookings go and there would be no reason they'd have to wait to assign rooms.

CLARE - who was your favorite CM? I really liked Pete....

OMG, so hard to decide. The wonderful Nascargirl had told me beforehand that all the CMs were wonderful (although I'd stayed in Dec 07 it was only for 2 nights so it was too short a trip, in May I was there for 7 nights so had time to meet everyone), for me it was Scott and Anita, wonderful people. I gave them a large bag of chocolates when I'd left to say thank you for all they'd done for me and Scott was so touched he gave me a big hug, such a nice genuine person.

LOL at your DH, I'd love to see any pictures or info on the YC refurb if you get any, thanks :) It would be so much better if they extended that tiny lounge to be along the lines of the BWI.

scottmel-Stick with the BWI. This is our favorite resort from the time we couldn't go bck to the BC. :worship: The CM are what make our trip so special time after time. We are heading back to Florida on Wednesday for the Nascar race. The bad thing, we have to stay closer to the track for a few days. The good thing, we have a car and can drive to the BWI and meet up with the CM. Once the race is over, we are back to the BWI but only for 1 night.
