We are staying at the boardwalk inn in dec:banana: Does anyone know if they have king size beds and if they do should I call and add that to my ressie. Also I know at the mods they charge for a king bed do they do that here.

Hi Marvin 12 -- The BWI does have king sized bedding, which can be requested on your reservation, but is not guaranteed as rooms are assigned at check-in. I would request a king when checking in, and if available, you will be accommodated.

As to a specific extra charge (above the normal rate for a 2 Queen room), I'm not familiar with such a charge , so I can't comment. I just book a king room, at the advertised rack or discounted rate, and thus far haven't experienced a difference in cost. Maybe someone else can help you with this question.

Have a great day!!!

I have a question, not sure if it is the right place to post this, but . . .

We want to send friends of our the refillable mugs as a gift for when they check in. I called BWI today, and the CM that answered the phone told me that there were 4 different styles of those mugs and four different places to buy them. This confuses me as every time I have stayed at a resort, there has only been one mug, the resort mug. Does anyone know what they look like or is this CM giving me wrong info. They are arriving on Mon. 7/23, so I need to act fast.

Also, I have looked into all of the sites that send gifts, and the surcharges are so high that we decided this would be the best gift. Thanks.

I understand there is a charge for valet parking at BWI -- anyone know how much? I expect that we will drive at least to AK and am wondering if we should plan on using valet parking or if it's relatively quick to get to the parking lot. Does the charge apply just to park at BWI, whether or not you use the valet?

Also, I'm a little confused about the room requests -- elsewhere in this thread, a poster who had booked a standard view room was asking about more specific views and one reply mentioned that a garden or courtyard view could be requested. I thought the garden views were a different "tier" of rooms.

Any info will be much appreciated!

Well, in the past few years the mugs were one style design and two different sizes, travel mug and a big fat one. But now all the resorts have been getting the YOAD - Year of a Million Dreams mugs. I know I was quite disappointed this summer when I couldn't get a resort specific mug at SSR. I love to have a new mug from a new resort. So, I don't know if BWI has any of their mugs left to sell. They might only have the YOAD ones. Those are cute, but not resort specific.

Valet parking is now $10 a day per car. It won't cost you more to drive over to AKL or any deluxe and valet it there that day. You will (or should) have to tip in every place though. The self parking lot is free, but it is a hike up a little hill to get to the entrance of BWI from the lots. You might end up in the lot farther away across the road too.

AKL self parking lot is not as far from the entrance as the BWI one. But it is up a hill.

As for standard room requests: The standard view can either overlook the pretty, grassy grounds near the entrance of the resort, with the parking lot way beyond that; or they can overlook beautiful gardens and walkways and the quiet pool. These standard views are the best view in my opinion. We have had this view everytime we go to BWI. We look out on our balcony to flowering trees, winding paths, grass and the other side of the Inn balconies across the way.

Thanks so much! It'll be worth the $10 plus tip not to have to cross a busy road with kids in tow.

I am trying to decide between a main building concierge stay at GF, a deluxe room at WL, or a deluxe room at BWI. I have never stayed at an Epcot resort with my DD4 and I am wondering if we will really miss having the convienence of the monorail. I will be staying with my parents as well, so a total of 3 adults and 1 4 year-old. I love the look/view/space/proximity to the lounge of the BWI deluxe rooms, but I am just having a hard time convincing myself that I will appreciate the transportation. We never even made it to the boardwalk on our last trip, and while it would be nice to try something new, I am concerned I will be missing out on the MK action!

Any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance.

are all the deluxe rooms boardwalk views? I thought they were, but wanted to make sure.

I asked CRO, and they said "not guaranteed" but it seems all the DISsers say they are boardwalk views ......

I was told this by CRO too. I wonder why they don't just say it's a guaranteed BW view.

Just back from 7 days in the Inn Keepers Club.
We have stayed at most of deluxe resorts and club floors. The service that we received at the IKC was far superior to that of the other resorts we have stayed, (CR, AKL, GF, and Poly). Athough the CR is still our favorite resort for location; the staff at the IKC cannot be beat. :cheer2:

Concierge rooms are not all Boardwalk view. The rooms on the lounge side are courtyard view, the rooms on the other side are boardwalk view. However, you can see the Epcot fireworks from the lounge side. You can request a boardwalk view, but it is not guaranteed. Only way to guarantee a boardwalk view is to book a deluxe room.

We'll be there again in Sept. BWI concierge staff are the best on property! :)

I was told the same thing by CRO the first time we booked there. The website doesn't say they are a guaranteed boardwalk view either. I wonder why they don't at least change it on their website. It might make people more inclined to book that room type if they knew it had a guaranteed view. :)

disneydave--Glad you had a great trip!!:thumbsup2 I always love hearing when someone has a great stay at the BWI. We love our stays there and love the Club level. The staff is indeed top notch and can't be beat! I can't wait until May!:cool1:

Disneydave, I am so glad you enjoyed your trip. I have to agree about the cast there. They treat everyone so nice. They have become my second family after all my trips there. I will be back in 133 more days. Did you meet Jackie, Janice, Scott, Lorezo, Anita and Pete?

We had a great time. Met the staff and found out that Lorenzo is a KU Jayhawks fan. They have become our new second family. We have already started planning for a trip in 08 and will be going back to the BWI.
