The Blue Angels are in town for the Air and Sea Show this weekend.
They're practicing today and they are flying right over my house!
It's so cool!
We are going to stay at a hotel on the beach tomorrow.
This show is fantastic. It includes:

U.S. Army Golden Knights
Canadian Forces Snowbirds
Marine Invasion
USAF Reserve F-16 "Makos" Flyover
USN F-18 "Hornet" Demonstration
USAF F-117 "Nighthawk" Fighter Flyover
USAF B-52 "Stratofortress" Flyover
USAF B-2 "Stealth Bomber" Flyover
USAF F-15 "Eagle" Demonstration
USAF F-16 "Falcon" Demonstration
USAF A-10 "Warthog" Demonstration
USAF B-1 "Lancer" Flyover
USN F-14 "Tomcat" Demonstration
USCG Rescue Demonstration
USAF Reserve 920th ParaRescue Wing
USMC AV-8B Harrier Demonstration
USA AH-64 Apache Demonstration
USAF Heritage Flight
South Carolina ANG C-130 Hercules Flyover

I'm so glad I made hotel reservations 8 months ago, they were all sold out soon after.
We are going to have a blast!

FANTASTIC!!! You're so lucky....I haven't seen them in years.

They used to be part of an air show that was held in Anoka and we'd station ourselves on a hill just outside of the performing area. Little did we know how dangerous it probably was because they'd get incredibly close to the ground (remember, we're ON a HILL!! LOL) as they flew over heading for the field!

I'd love to see any pictures you take of the groups if you know how to post them here. :)

I have fond memories of watching The Blue Angels with my Dad when we were kids too. That was in Weymouth, Mass.
This Air and Sea Show alternates each year, one year it stars the Thunderbirds, the next year it's the Blue Angels.
The Blue Angels are absolutely awesome!
I'll be sure to post pictures.
Have a good weekend!

Residing in MISSOURI does have a few perks!
We see the very cool stealth fighters fly over from nearby base.
You do not hear them until they are past you...sneaky...

Hi montessori,

Take care of my Angels while they are down there.....Pensacola is the home of the Blue Angels as they are based out of Pensacola Naval Air Station. They practice over the base at least once a week, and this practice is open to the public. There is a viewing area located behind the National Museum of Naval Aviation.

Hope ya'll don't mind the Pensacola commercial:

That is so cool, just like your own private show. Blue Angels are awesome!

I'll be having the Thunderbirds over my house in about a month. The're here every May for the USAFA graduation. I love watching them each year. Hopefully the weather will be good for the 'long' show, rather than just the flyover.

DH says you're very lucky - he lives for stuff like the Blue Angels.:D

Montessori,

That is one awesome lineup::yes::

We had the Blue Angels in our area last weekend. We were at the air show at MCAS Beaufort. The Blue Angels were incredible. Your lineup is much more comprehensive than we had although we did also have the B-2 Spirit, F-15 Eagle, Heritage Flight, AV-8B Harrier, and C-130 Fat Albert JATO. Our show had a number of older type aircraft and many other military aircraft on display. Several of them were available for boarding, which my kids just loved. It was a great afternoon. We've seen the Apache demonstration in past shows and that is really impressive, too.

Enjoy the show. I'm sure it will be terrific.

I didn't know about this, thanks for the info. I hope we can swing by there the next time we visit that area because I love the Blue Angels.

The airshow here is the last weekend of Oct every year. We alternate the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds also. Oct 03 was Blue Angel year! I live right under the pattern fro the base, so I got to watch all of the arial demos from my backyard! Gotta love that! And even though I am AF, Blue Angels are MCUH better than the Thunderbirds!

The Blue Angels are out in the Bay Area several times a year for Fleet Week and various other air shows. When I was an undergrad in the city at USF we had a part of campus called Lone Mountain. Lone Mountian is the highest and most center point in SF besides Mt. Sutro. The Blue Angels used to use Lone Mountain as ground zero, if you will, for every manuever. So every few minutes or so they would fly by and you basically couldn't hold class very easily since you could hardly hear the teacher from the jet engine noise.

They are a blast to watch and it blows my mind every time when I see how precise their flying is.

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!

I know you will....with a line-up like that.....WOW!!!
...impressive!!

I love the Blue Angels.. I see them every chance I get... I've been to the practice at Pensacola NAS many times:D

The Snowbirds put on a great show too! :sunny:

I'm from Orange Park, Florida just a few miles from NAS JAX "Birth Place of the Blue Angels."

Love it when they practice here for the Air Show. Since they only visit us know that they have a new home over in the panhandle.

Montessori - I grew up watching the Blue Angels at the Weymouth Naval Air Station in South Weymouth. I used to take my kids before they closed down the station too! They always put on an amazing show. Wish they would still come around here. Enjoy them!

We used to live on Nellis AFB ( Las Vegas) where the Thunderbirds were stationed and we got free shows all the time. It was noisy, but you get used to it after living on AF bases for nine years. I don't miss Las Vegas, but I do miss the Thunderbirds. :(

Wow! Another person here with fond memories of the Blue Angels at South Weymouth Naval Air Base. It's one of my first memories.

It must be nearly 15 years since I last saw them but what a thrill. I was living in a town nearby and as they were going through their drills days before the show they would fly right over my town. One time I was heading up the main street and they came up from behind me and flew right over my car! We went to the show on a Sunday but on Saturday I went over to the High School field and they were making their turns right in that area. A bunch of us waved at one of the planes and the pilot tipped the wings back and forth right after we waved.

The Blue Angels are just amazing! ::yes::
