What can you tell me about this phone?? The good, the bad & the expensive.

The email & the GPS look great but how much more does that cost? Do we need to pay a lot more to access the internet to get those programs??

What about apps in general? What do they run??

Thanks much in advance.

Who's the wireless carrier?
I have AT&T and didn't have to get a data plan. I have the BB 8110 Pearl and picked it primarily for the GPS functionality. I was on a pay-as-you-go data plan until February when I upgraded to the unlimited data plan for about $30/month. Now I check my email often throughout the day (blocked access on work computer), Google, Google maps, check DIS and other boards, check the weather, get Nascar updates, etc. when I can't get to the computer.

Blackberry personal data plan unlimited $30/month (just checked the bill).
The pay-per-use data is 1-cent per KB. A quick check for new email messages or the weather doesn't use much data. My February bill, before I switched to the monthly plan, was only 0.49. If you Google or use Google maps you will be "online" longer. My Feb statement was only 0.49 for data, but the month before was over $30 for 3081 KB, which is why I switched to the plan - I was already reaching that limit trying to be conservative.

I have this phone for over a year and love it!! I will be replacing it later this year with one just like it. I have AT&T too and pay the $30/mo because I would go broke otherwise. I dont use the navigation system but have downloaded Google maps instead. It works the same except it doesnt talk. I love the email and being to use it to check woot and the disboards even when Im not near my computer. Totally worth it!!!!

I have the 8330 on Verizon and love it!!!!!!!!!!

Google Maps is definitely a must. I recently met up with a friend at a restaurant in an area neither of us were familiar with. Afterward we wanted to get ice cream so I just typed in ice cream in the app and a bunch of local places came up and gave us directions there.

And get Opera Mini to use as a browser. So much better than what comes with the phone.

Our carrier is also AT&T. $30.00 a month? Not bad.
Thanks.

this is on top of your regular plan. that is just for the data. and new customers will pay $35 for unlimited data. and trust me you need unlimited. you also need 1500 or unlimited text messages....
even if you don't text now. trust me again...after having the Curve for 2 yrs now...you WILL text a lot. more than talking. its just so easy.

I think its a great way to text and check email and its so small and thin compared to the other bberrys. I don't use GPS and I didn't get the Wifi version.....but my phone is the GPS one...but don't use it.

You can get fun ringers and themes for it. It is great for being able to check your email anywhere.

It is not the best phone....honestly...but once you get everyone in speed dial its easier.

good luck !!! its not cheap....check the prices and remember you have to add the data plan on top of your monthly plan. I don't know how that other poster got $30 plan TOTAL per month for blackberry plan...unheard of.

I just looked at my AT&T bill for you...I have the 700 min plan per month its $60.00 (just for the cell plan). then I hve the blackberry personal unlimited msging plan and its $50.00 per month(this is just for having the blackberry). Thats $110.00 before taxes. I used 5208 kbs of data on my last bill and I don't text that much....

so hope this gives you idea.....just wanted to let you know.

I stated that the data plan was $30, not that my total bill was. Sorry if I confused anyone. My total bill is for four lines, so I didn't include our regular monthly service charges since it all rolls under my number since it's the primary line.
