The Biggest Loser ~ Season 10 ~ "Paying It Forward"

Thank you for being so kind to a newbie on the thread. Once I get the crew going this morning I will take the time to watch it.

Well.....I just watched the episode and yowsa! It was a pretty good show all around.

Most of the contestants seem geniune in the fact they are there for weight loss and not about the money.

Sorry Allie had to go. I thought for sure they were going to vote for Tina. Made no sense to me.

Certainly an interesting twist to have her go home and then move out I guess? Not sure. Too bad her mother could not support her however not a shocker since she got her gastric bypass at 14.:sad2:

I'm surprised they voted Allie out too, she's been heavy her entire life and really needed to be there IMO. Usually at the beginning they keep the people who genuinely need to be there, the game play and "who needs to lose more than me" thing comes later in the season. They only kept Tina because in the grand scheme of things she doesn't have as much to lose as most of them so her weight loss will slow at some point during the season and they can get rid of her then. I also don't like the bottom 8 deal, they'll be picking off the women one by one.

I hadn't thought about that! But you are right about that. That is too bad. although if they did the bottom 2 eachtime, and they are women each time, they will in the end pick off women anyhow.

I am finding it hard to find these contestants as likable as the ones in other seasons. I wanted to slap Tina for her whining last night about wanting to go home - glad she got her wish after all. And can someone please turn down the volume on Frado screaming? We get it - it hurts BUT the others aren't screaming like banshees!

Looks like there may be some drama if the men split off into 2 different alliances instead of 1 strong solid one. The girls may have a chance if this happens if they bond together.

not many comments from last nights show??

I have some random thoughts....

- I found myself getting really angry while watching last night. If it's going to be a men vs. women thing then make it official and call it Biggest Loser 10 Men vs. Women. At least make it fair and do it so the bottom man and the bottom woman should be up for elimination. I hear Bob and Jillian say "I've been doing this show for 10 seasons, we know what works". Ok then shouldn't they know by now that women lose weight differently than men? I'm not a doctor, I'm not exactly sure why women lose weight differently (hormones maybe?) no one should use it as an excuse or to fall back on when they don't lose but it is apparently true just by looking at the past seasons of this show.

- I hate any challenge where they have to "eliminate" other contestants, how can one not take that personally? We knew Tina would be first out because everyone wanted make a point that she's gotta work and show she wanted to be there but then ganging up and eliminating ALL the women? I know Brendon said he heard Burgandy say they wanted all the boys out and that's why they did it but the whole thing just seemed immature and like elementary school playground-ish all around. Why was Aaron the first man eliminated, do they not like him, is there a back story? Do Frado, Brendon and Patrick not realize they basically outed their "alliance" in that challenge? :rotfl:

- speaking of alliances, isn't a bit silly to make one this early on especially when you don't know how this season is going to "work". Right now it's bottom 7/8 but what if they go to teams and they're split up? :confused3

I have to agree that I'm just not connecting with any of the contestants this season. Maybe the show's just getting stale for me, but I'm not getting into it as much this year. I don't mind the way they're doing the new line and challenge among the bottom half, but I think they should ALL be able to vote.

Unless I really start to like someone I may not watch this show as regularly as I usually do. There's not even that evil, conniving person to root against!

I think they are not letting them all vote so they can't have an alliance vote everyone off. :confused3 Everyone has a chance to save themselves as will.

Don't have a favourite yet. But the right one went home last night. Wish she would have stood up last week and just went home so the other girl could stay.

How many days are between these weighin's? it seems like it's only a couple when they spring it on them, but then they talk about the "week".

I don't have a favorite yet but I do have a least favorite. I don't care for Burgandy. It may just be the editing but whenever she makes comments I don't like the way she comes across.
I think they sent the right person home now lets just hope that the other girl really has figured things out. :)

I agree with you. Burgandy just grates on me. I think they're making her out like last year's Tracy. I feel like it's only going to get worse!

OH no kidding!! I found myself thinking that if I had to work out in the same gym as Fredo, I would probably smack him. He seems like a pretty nice guy, but sheesh. Shut up already!

And was it just me or did anyone else think Fredo seemed hesitant at that "alliance" meeting? Personally I thought that was a totally crappy thing for Patrick to do to Rick after he saved him from the bottom 8 the week before. Made me really not like him.

Totallly agree with you on all of this. The men vs women with one from each team would be interesting. And I HATE those kinds of challenges. If you had to fill your own tube FIRST to not have to compete anymore, that is more like a challenge. That is what my kids and I thought Allie meant in the first place. We were really confused when they started and were putting balls in other people's tubes. :rotfl:

And yes, the alliance is too early. Really made me wonder if it was a bit staged....I mean, did they say, "Hey, bring the cameras in here. We are going to form an alliance."

Looking forward to tonight.

That was a no brainer , a woman was going home after that last challenge. I was surprise the girls even got a 900 lb thing rolling.

Glad to see they are bring back some of the ones that didn't make it but looks like it can only be one of them. I hope it is the guy with the dreads. He was so close to winning a spot until he fell.

The cupcake challenge was better this time, since they they got clues and didn't have to eat the whole shelf to find it. Still lots of calories though.

I am really not liking this season much either.

It isn't even so much the bottom 8 thing being so stacked against the women - because there have been women on the show who have put up much higher percentages than this group. It's when you add to that the challenges that come next are so biased toward body strength. Of course what's his name felt okay saying he can compete. Its almost a given that the men are in no danger.

If they don't change it up soon, they are going to end up with around a 95% male cast, but I'm guessing they will change soon.

My other huge complaint against the show has kind of grown over the past couple of seasons in that they hardly ever show exercise as anything other than a grueling painful torture session that Jill and Bob forces the contestants to endure.

How is that supposed to be motivating for anybody?

And I'm really tired of Jillian and her pop-psychology.

.
I agree completely with the bolded .

I love Jillian, much more than Bob who I don't really care for...BUT...I'm over her forcing "breakthroughs". I get that there is sometimes a psychological reason people are overweight but there is also sometimes NOT a reason other than eating too much and being lazy.

I'd also like to see the exercise as not being torturous sometimes.

I think that for someone to become so overweight that there is something other than liking food.

This group is just begging for the psyc stuff. Each is a tragedy. I'm sure the show will play each one up.

Just my opinion, :).

Looks like next week we go back to the Regular Yellow line -- in its correct place. No more 1/2 the players being under the Yellow line.
