The Biggest Loser ~ Season 10 ~ "Paying It Forward"

Finally sat down and watched last night. Are they going to send half of the contestants home? That is how it looked to me.:confused3I hate how they do that to people.

As far as the stories and the competition to get on the show, yea that was a little stinky as well.

I am hoping that the show tonight is has some uplift.

I loved seeing all the former contestants! That was cool.:goodvibes

I'm not sure if they said that, or if they said half will fall below the yellow line, which would mean that half are UP for elimination, but only one would go home. That would certainly eliminate a lot of the alliances that usually form. I wonder if it will be like that every week.

Also, what the heck is a "nervous Jewish family?" LOL! I heard that last week and had never heard it before.

Oh ok, that would make more sense but absolutely crazy.

Why can't they kept the show at a normal pace? It is just maddening.

I was just wondering, was any other Dis'ers at the Biggest Loser 5K race at Myrtle Beach, SC this weekend? They were filming a special that will be airing in November. I didn't see any current contestants there, but did see & meet some past BL alumni, and Bob!

Yeah, I wonder how they lost so much weight in just two work outs? These are the same numbers pulled after a week. I know they said it had been 2 weeks since the 1st weighin, but honestly, how many of them were "dieting" before they came.

I have not watched yet. I was wondering what happened without watching.:lmao:

Jenseib, I was wondering if they gained weight for the show instead of dieting? That is my first thought.

That is so cool! I wonder what this "special" is... Did those contestants look big, or did they look like they had already lost weight? I wonder if they're doing that quickie version that they did a couple years ago.

I predict Jesse and the yellow girl will be the romance this season. I'm glad yellow girl got to stay. I hope she improves and we don't have to see her struggling to breath every episode. That upsets me!

I like Brendan and I hope he does well. He's a basket case right now. I think he and blue guy will be super nice looking once they lose the weight. In fact, I think many of these contestants will look great at the end. (No flaming - I'm overweight myself.)

I don't think I'm going to like Jessica.... But I also had to laugh at Burgandy when she said Jessica came into her lane. LOL! This isn't track and field. The flag was in the middle - of course Jessica had to leave her "lane." In fact, those that started at the middle of the start line had a slight advantage.

Had to laugh that they needed subtitles for Patrick!! LOL!!!

Yay Ada!!!

Glad to see that the one who was voted off has done pretty well. Shame on her mother for keeping chocolate around.

Isn't the one that was voted off the one that had gastric bypass surgery at age 14? It doesn't surprise me that her mom didn't help her out. She went iwth a quick fix solution when her kid was barely a teen.

I know, and the chocolate. :sad2:

And in the previews for next week when the other wants to go home now. They should have sent her home last night.

Last year they lost big numbers on week one. They are all big so wasn't surprised.

It was gross when they were showing Brendon with snot coming out of his nose....ewww.

The current contestants weren't there, but there were a few past contestants: Ali, Sherry, Amy and Phil, (and Bob). They were filming a special that will include "where are they now" and some inspirational stories of random people picked from the race. I think they said it's gonna be a Thanksgiving special, but for sure in November.

I'll be watching and looking to see if I can be seen in the crowd somewhere!:rotfl:

I didn't get it taped! Was it worth paying for on itunes?

I wouldn't pay for it on Itunes but check YouTube. People always seem to put the TV shows there and you can watch them for free.

I also thought that the contest at the end wasn't fair. The people in the middle had a clear advantage to reach the flag. I wonder how they picked who got the middle lanes.

I can almost guarantee that this is a setup. There's always someone during the first few weeks who wants to go home, and then by the end of the episode they change their minds and post big numbers. There's more to the story than they showed.

I'm glad she didn't go home. I can sympathize with her about how hard it is to stop gaining, never mind losing, weight. It's virtually impossible to do it without a huge support system; she needs to be where she is.

Thanks for the thread, Kar! :woohoo:

This show is the only one that DH and I make it a point to sit down and watch together each week. We missed most of the premiere because I was sick and DH was traveling back home but we caught last nite.

First off, WHY WHY WHY must they show people VOMITING on TV??? Ugh. That and the snot about did me in. Gross. I get it - working out so much makes you physically ill. Must we see the liquids come out of their bodies?

I don't really know who to cheer for yet. Maybe Aaron or Brendon.

I just watched it on Hulu.

I was pretty shocked that they sent Allie home. That does not bode well for a non-game-playing season. I was SURE that they were going to take pity on her and keep her in the game. I felt so sorry for her. It's almost like she was sabotaged by her family from the start. Who the the hell takes their FOURTEEN year old for by-pass surgery? I am appalled. Tina has had plenty of time to come to terms with her obesity ... poor Allie did not.

On the other hand, maybe they figured that even if she stayed and lost a lot of weight, if she's still living with her mother, she'll have no chance of keeping it off. So keeping her around would be futile anyway. Once she gets out of her mother's house, maybe she can begin dealing with it.

Nah, they kicked out Allie with a BMI of 53 and kept old Tina with a BMI of 41. Allie had the 3rd highest BMI of the whole group. Allie was a real threat should she get her stuff together and start losing and Tina is no threat at all. It was 100% game play.

Any other season they would have kept Allie around for the first week out of the concern that she needed it more than Tina. I think the lack of teams has set them all on edge and directly into screw-you game mode. I can't wait for Jillian and Bob to chew them a new one over this decision.

I missed the preview for next week. Does it look like Tina is whining and wants to go home?

are there usually this many extreme sad sad stories (death of family members etc)? I feel like there are more than usual.
ITA! It bugged me a little.

And the Doctors show paid for him to get all that skin cut off too. He looks good.
I didn't know that about Danny. I'm happy for him - love him!

I watched it with my DS (age 13) and he commented how it was sort of unfair that the most unfit people (the ones that came in last in a ONE MILE RACE, etc) were the ones that didn't get to go to the ranch. Kind of ironic.
DH was really bugged by this as well. I don't like the idea of immediately weeding out people, but having the least fit be goners didn't bother me so much. Like a PP, it seems these are the people that can better handle the intense workouts and the challenges.

I got the impression that they didn't really go straight from the limo to the ranch. I wonder if they have some time at home between that weigh in in their city and getting to campus. One guy made a comment about trying to start dieting at home.

True. Allie needed the support of the ranch, the structure, getting away from her mom. Her self image never had a chance. I can't believe anyone would give their 14 year old gastric bypass - and if it was deemed necessary, that as a parent you wouldn't follow up and make sure it was a healthy success. Hopefully Allie is able to find some support at home. I'm glad she's managed to lose weight at least.
