DDIL -- Lori, age 23, AKA Mommy, absolute WDW newbie and very skeptical--I'll go because it's a family trip, but I'm not going to have a good time.
DGD -- Shannan, age 3 1/2, absolute newbie, has seen my collection of WDW pictures (over 4000), and knows all there is to know about WDW.

Aunt Janet's Gang

Aunt Janet (Grandpa's sister), age 40 something, absolute WDW newbie, another "I'm going because it's for the kids but I'll hate every minute of it" type.
Uncle Nick (Aunt Janet's husband), age 6 years older than Aunt Janet, yet another "I'm going because it's for the kids but I'll hate every minute of it" type, coupled with "how am I ever going to pay for all of this?"
Andrew, 13 1/2, son of Uncle Nick and Aunt Janet, WDW newbie
Megan, 9 1/2, daughter of Uncle Nick and Aunt Janet, WDW newbie, doesn't care about WDW, wants to go on the cruise, will only tolerate WDW if there's a hot tub.

Nassau!

Our day in Nassau dawned bright and sunny. After breakfast in Parrot Cay (we didn’t get started quite as early as I had planned), we headed out to buy some color changing nail polish at Del Sol and to see the Straw Market and some of the government buildings, and then back to spend the day enjoying the ship (the hot tub, the pool…). We stayed on deck in the hot tub and pool until it became too cool and windy, then headed down to dress for dinner.

Dinner would be in Triton’s, and we had planned to have a family picture taken that night as a Christmas gift for Nana (Grandpa and Aunt Janet’s mother). As usual, our plans didn’t quite work out since Andrew decided at the last minute to take an excursion with his friends from Common Grounds, and a family picture without the whole family just wouldn’t have been a good thing!

This evening was particularly magical for Shannan. She wore her “Sleeping Beauty” gown (a BLUE one) for dinner. She had been insisting for months that she wanted to do this. Her mom and her other grandma spent hours making a beautiful reproduction of the gown from the movie in beautiful shades of blue. No pink gown for Shannan (even though pink is her favorite color)! Aurora is dressed in blue for all of the important parts of the movie. She still hadn’t had her picture taken with Belle, who was in the atrium that evening for pictures. We were the very last people in line. What we didn’t realize was that Princess Aurora was posing for pictures on the other side of the atrium, in her blue dress. She sent another crew member over to bring Shannan to her. They had a lovely conversation regarding the fact that most young princesses wear the pink dress, and that really upsets Merriweather, who had just an hour ago turned her gown blue again. Shannan is a very sociable little girl, and they chatted for quite a while. Other crew members came to see what was taking Aurora so long, and they, too, stopped to chat with my little princess in blue. Aurora asked Shannan for her full name, and we headed to dinner a bit late, and very hungry! On the last night of the trip, Shannan was thrilled to receive a beautiful autographed picture of Aurora with a lovely personal note about how much she enjoyed their chat and looked forward to seeing her on another cruise some day.
