the BEST ride at Disneyland

It is so hard to choose just one favorite. I have been here trying to think of just one. I LOVE thrill rides, but I also love the family rides, with that said, here is what I boiled it down to:
Disneyland: Pirates (we went to Disneyland ever year growing up and this was the first ride we went on...so I think it's for the sentimental reasons as well as an awesome experience.)
DCA: Soarin' California

Pirates is good if you want to get away from the heat. Also remember that it is one of the longest rides in DL. For waiting in line you are rewarded with a ride that is over 16 minutes long!

Splash mountain is still my favorite though!

Whatever ride I take to get to DL is the best ride of all...::yes::

Finding Nemo is really cool. There is only one scene that might challenge the timid one.

Another area 2 boys would love, but it is not really a ride is the old Tom Sawyer Island. This would be great with the pirate show they put on.

best ride - pirates of the c (splash is still my favorite at wdw)

Honorable mentions :
Space mountain - makes wdw version looks like a kiddie ride
California Screamin
Soarin over Cali

Shows -
Alladin
Billy Hill and the Hillbillies

Fireworks -
Remember Dreams Come true - liked it be than wishes, wife disagrees
Fantasmic - much better at the land
Electrical Parade at DCA - heard rumors they might move it back to DL when Parade of dreams goes to wdw

Best rides in terms of EVERYONE enjoying:

DL
Pirates
Splash
Buzz

CA
Soarin'

Peter Pan-----I just love the movie, I think that's why!:)

Pirates

Soarin'

HAVE FUN!!!

Most of the thrill rides will have a warning that if you have back or neck problems you shouldn't ride it. With that said, I have back and neck problems and I ride them all or have tried them at least. You have to exercise proper judgement as to what you can handle and then be willing to accept responsibility for that decision.
I would recommend Splash Mountain as an easy to ride for the back, thrill ride for timid and thrill seeking people. (Wear a poncho so you don't get soaked.) I also love  Indiana Jones & BTMRR. I don't like Star Tours or Space Mountain. :duck: I get sick or headaches from them. I like HTOT at DCA, Soaring, and GRR (wear a poncho). My DS loves Cali Screaming. I get sick/headaches on that one so I don't ride it.
Have fun!

How much do you get thrown around on Indy? Is it like a rollercoaster?
I'd really like to give it a try.

I'm looking forward to Splash & Pirates (i think the HM is going to be closed when were there)

Indy is probably worse for you than a roller coaster like california because there are a lot of sudden latteral movements. With a roller coaster you know when the turns are coming. With Indy the car itself will lift one side or the other and throw you into your neighbor.

Ah OK, maybe it's not such a good idea then, thanks for filling me in.

Some thoughts....on the Travel Channel, they sometimes feature Disneyland attractions, and on one episode they featured Indy, BUzz, etc... you might wanna check that out sometime....and youtube has a bunch of Disneyland rides...only problem is it may take away some of the element of surprise- if that matters to you... but we did it so the kids had some idea of what they were getting into (given it was their first time to experience these type of rides!) Youtube can only show so much, i don't think it ruined anything for us for the real deal...
Have fun!:goodvibes

At DCA.... definately Soarin! It is not to be missed and would be fine for the 8 and 6 year old. At Disneyland... they should love Peter Pan, Buzz Lightyear, Star Tours... maybe Pirates, though I was terrified of Pirates at that age... I thought they were really shooting at me at the end!

::yes:: Check out Youtube to see the rides. Again, I have a bad back and neck and I much prefer Indy over Cali Screaming or Space Mountain. It's one of those subjective things you need to figure out for yourself.

Thankyou all for your tips, they have all been very helpful, plus I'm even more excited now :cool1:

and that's never a bad thing....is it? ;)

My favorite ride in any Disney Park is Soarin' over California. It's in Disney's California Adventure Park.(not hard on your back - your boys would only need to meet the height requirement. Not scary, but simulates flying.)

I would think your boys would really like Pirates & Splash in Disneyland.
