the best comfort food and casual restaurant

Definitely plaza inn chicken but we also like the burgers and chicken sandwiches at hungry bear.

Plaza Inn is most universal comfort food. You can see menus on allears.net

Fried chicken, pasta or roast.

Storytellers is also good for comfort food, but a more expensive option. Buffet dinner or order off the menu.

One more vote for the Plaza Inn fried chicken. The mashed potatoes that come with them are excellent as well.

I'm a fan of Pizza Port. I could eat only pizza and pasta everyday and not get tired of it. :)

French Market in New Orleans Square had many different selections that I would consider comfort food: Beef Stew and Corn Chowder in bread bowls, meatloaf, jambalaya, roast beef sandwiches with au jus and a nice selection of desserts.

The Royal Street Veranda has a gumbo in a breadbowl that was pretty darn comforting on a cold December night last year.

We love the Plaza Inn chicken dinner, larger , filling, delicious and enough to share between light eaters. Truly great comfort food and so good!

We also like the Harbor Galley across from the HM for their baked potatoes. We love the potato topped with BBQ chicken and slaw. It sounds different, but is so tasty and filling. The menu is here: http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/men_har.htm. It could be a light meal or a really hearty snack, between the potato, the generous amount of BBQ chicken, and the tangy slaw.

I am super excited to be trying the Plaza Inn for Minnie and Friends breakfast on my birthday in May. I will share then. I typically have lunch at the Village Haus. They open right at 11 and if you get there early like that or soon thereafter typically almost empty (not during a crowded season) and the service is very quick. I appreciate them because I'm able to upgrade the toddler mac and cheese to a kids' size and substitute fries. They also offer the 10% discount for Annual Pass holders (I have the deluxe) It's fun eating in Pinocchio's house :)

For me, it's my favorite place - Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. Tastes like the food my grandparents would make. Ribs, chicken and cornbread.

Over in DCA I like the Pacific Wharf which has great soups in sourdough bread bowls. I also like their salads. My tip is to ask them to have the soup of salad served on the side so that you can munch on the bread as a snack I also like Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill.

Ooh Cucamonga Mexican Grill is wonderful. We sat outside last time and had a couple Margarita's with dinner while watching the crowds go by.
Sublime!
