The Berg-Berts do WDW, Part 30 – Closing Thoughts

My daddy always told me that if you couldn't be number one, then number 3 was best. Too much pressure about just missing out by being number 2.

I always preferred number 6.

Lacto ~ thanks for letting us know how you ended up in the BUDGET hotel of the Wilderness Lodge.

I, too, am planning a trip on the "Boat." For 2009.

The "Boat" will still be there!

The Wilderness Lodge is only a far off dream for us, so I can't wait to read about your adventure!!

Your boys are so cute and understanding! I love em already!

Okay what year are you in....what year is it now. We have been on the Magic twice and it is great even for a closet. The room we had at POR seemed bigger then the closet room with bunkbeds at WL.

But you are at Disney what are you doing in your room anyway. Same as the cruise, something always happening. You are still taking the boys right.... :rotfl2:

That was in May of 2006.

The boys get to go, but we have prearranged to send them to Nanny UPS if they don't have fun.

Then I began to get a whiff of something. The salty sea air.
Phew. I thought you were going to say something else...

Now I like to think I have some sophistication. I am a redneck by all outward appearances. But I love opera, classical music, literature, art. I am not just a bumpkin just in from the sticks. I also like banjo music, yodeling, MoonPies and Dr. Pepper.
A sophisticated redneck is the best kind and your outward appearance to me is pure elegance. I love opera, classical music, literature, art, banjo, yodeling, moon pies and Dr. Pepper. I kid you not... :teeth: Art major in college, Bela Fleck, Chopin, Hemingway, Tosca. You are no bumpkin in the sticks, and this is coming from another non bumpkin, in the sticks.

I can't wait to follow the tale of the eggbergs....all four of you are precious!

So we call the boys into the living room. We put on the “we have to give you boys some bad news” looks on our faces. We take on the “we know that this will likely crush your psyche and we will have to pay mondo big money in counseling” tone to our voices. “Boys, Mommy and Daddy have been thinking about the trip. And we don’t know if we are going to get to go on “the boat”. How about if we go to Disney World?”

{cue crickets………………………….for about 1/8th of a second}.

“WHooo-Hoooooo!!!!!” Or something like that.
Masterful let down!

Tally forth and happy trails! :yay:

I'll leave that for ZZUB

I know that. You know that. But I have to keep up appearances. I wouldn't want my membership in the Klampett Family Association to become null and void.

Are you an accountant? I thought it was "Sally"

Hey Lacto......great start!!

I just got over here because I was doing a bit of procrastination on my TR!

Done, for now.

Ready to read....

They are pumped. If you have seen the planning video, there is a silhouette of Goofy walking by a porthole. One time on his journey past the porthole, he falls with his characteristic, “Yoo-hooo-hhhhoooo!” #2S is anxiously waiting to get on “the boat” so he can watch Goofy fall down; just like the video. He has reality issues. But he’s 4.

I don’t have an excuse.

:rotfl2: Sure you do....you're a kid at heart :teeth:

So the plan is set… and changed. We are going to DisneyWorld.

LOVE that they weren't disappointed. But then again, how can you be disappointed about going to Disney World?!

TFI, I've done the cruise. It's great, but I prefer the parks. (Just like Haley B! Except....that tag is gone now, no?!)

Great report so far Lacto! Let it be said here though that I have just now read this tonight. AFTER Rhonda and I started a "he said She said" deal on our latest TR. We did NOT steal the idea. Just wanted that to be known. LOL. I didn't know you guys were doing this too. But, it should be fun, huh?

Blessings!

Dre will not be making any grand comments. She is leaving the full report up to me. Her role is fact checking and gentling reminding me to get the next part up.

Like so many millions before, we jumped at the chance of the free dining. I love food. So when we knew we were going back to the World, we got right to the menus. Where, o where, shall we eat?

One problem really stood in the way of enjoying all of the great eats: #2S. He is not a finicky eater. He refuses to eat anything outside of his own approved menu. Which is only about 5 items long. And changes hourly. How picky is this kid, you may wonder? Pizza is a great example. He loves pizza; in a limited sort of way. In a 5 day time period, he ate a pizza, refused another kind of pizza, ate a different kind of pizza, then refused yet another kind. Both kinds he refused, he didn’t even take a bite. Just flat out , “I don’t like pizza”.

We start looking at restaurants that have kid’s menus. Anywhere that serves uncrustables/hot dogs/French fries were prime candidates. The last time we went to WDW, we did the plan where you use wishes for different things at the world. We used the heck out of wishes to eat at almost exclusively table service restaurants. I don’t think we ate at any counter service that trip (except AK – but DUH!). So we are looking at table service to figure out where we can eat.

We loved Sci-Fi Dine In just for atmosphere last time (the food was less than remarkable, but it says a lot about the atmosphere to completely cloud that fact). We also loved Whispering Canyon (Wilderness Lodge was our home – ate there like 3 times). We also love the Liberty Tree. It was one of the few places #1S came out of his shell and interacted with characters.

We are looking hard and trying to find the best places for all of us to enjoy, or at least find something to choke down together. Then one day, we hit upon a flash of inspiration: forget the kid.

“WHAT??!!?? “ You may say. “How could a parent not regard their children?”

We are regarding our children. We just came to the decision that this boy won’t eat anything we put before him. He will refuse. Stare you in the face and tell you no. Except Nanny (his grandma). But she will feed him whatever he wants. But we know there is no bargaining with him. There is no threatening him. It is not worth the hassle. So we are taking the advice of some fellow Maelstrommers and packing our own uncrusted pbj. Bring on the grocery delivery.

That gave us freedom to choose what we wanted. And we did.

Liberty Tree on Monday evening
Playhouse Disney Meet and Eat at Hollywood and Vine on Tuesday morning
Mama Melrose (temporarily) Tuesday afternoon
La Cellier Wednesday afternoon
Ohana Thursday evening
Chef Mickey’s Friday morning

These are fairly set. Mama Melrose is our only questionable.

Well. Actually. You kinda did.

'Cause you said DS was NOT finicky and then proceeded to talk about just HOW finicky he WAS!!!! :teeth:

Sher - you got to be first here. Don't tell Dre. She'll get a little jealous.

I didn't wait for her to lovingly remind me to put this chapter up.

BTW/TFI/WTVR - saw the newish live-ish tr spot - of course that pic had to start it off

Bah! You beat me to it.

Actually he is NOT Finicky! He is obstinate! He won't eat ANYTHING! Weird child.

One correction to this tale. We did not eat counter service at Animal Kingdom either. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe. (Not a good experience I might add. The waiter was lousy and the food took forever to arrive)

That is really good parenting advice!

HE WONT STARVE! Though picky kids make one wonder how they survive on mouse sized portions! Looks like you chose some good places to eat FREE!

We tried for 2 years to book Le Cellier and finally went and it was pretty darn good. I make better cheese soup, though.

I think Sher's computer is styled like a Vegas slot machine. Whenever someone she subscribes to posts, a red siren style alarm goes off :thumbsup2

Thank GOOD ness someone else is number 2 today!

I agree with you on the kid, though. Mine was the same way. I used to make seperate dinners for him. Now, if he doesn't like what I cook he's either on his own or he doesn't eat.

But he doesn't refuse to eat anymore.

Yeah, we tried to the whole you eat what we fix or not at all and he went 36 hours without eating. Dry-heaving and everything! I think he would've refused to eat until he landed in the hospital if I hadn't finally fixed something he liked for supper. (Pancakes)

So, we are nixing the trip to Pizza Planet because now he doesn't eat pizza. Lato and I think the pizza is gross so why waste perfectly free good CS credits on carpy food?

We did the same for our little princess. Finally we just didn't order anything for her if she didn't want it because when she says no it is no. The waiters kept saying if I bring it out she will eat it but they were wrong. Even a ice cream. I think she lived on popcorn and chocolate milk the whole time we were gone.

Are you packed yet?
