It would be considered cheating. You can buy them ahead of time though and it will be delivered (or you will get a gift card in the cabin) if that helps you any...

I have a few of them and was told by the cast member to bring them back on your next cruise so no this is not cheating

Interesting as we were told the exact OPPOSITE in September... I also verified this with our concierge.

Even though they are not doing the mug yet on the Dream I saw several people had brought on mugs and got them filled. The bartender in 687 said you could bring them back on for refilling.

then i guess i will bring it back and if they will refill it .....
cool
If not cool

This is why the made to Beer mug, to bring back time & time again...considered a perk for purchasing the mug. This has been comfirmed 3 diffenet times, three different cruises...

GREAT PROGRAM....if you drink Beer....:drinking1
try beer tasting as well....

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

I haven't heard about a beer mug. How much does it cost and how much is it to get refilled? Did someone mention that it isn't on the Dream?

I did not see any mugs on the dream last week.

There was about 4 different drafts though.

We are going on the Dream in June and I have already purchased two beer mugs and a bucket of beers. I was told that the mugs would be in our stateroom at arrival and that we would get a coupon to redeem for the bucket of beer.

It's a neat looking glass mug (tall and skinny) you buy it for $15 and you then get all 22 oz of it filled for the price of a 16 oz beer. The price varies, It was about $4.25 on our caribbean cruises, but in the Med last summer they only had imported so it was five something.

r u kidding me?!! ugh!
If i would have known about this "program" my hubby and i wouldnt have bought 4 glasses!...and here we were so outraged about beer pricing!..the prices you pay for beeing new to cruising...

lol! too funny

I've brought mine back on serveral cruises - and it says ESPN - from the days when there was an ESPN sports bar on one of the ships....and never had any issues.

Here's the deal (link) from a thread back in July. Per Disney Reservations, the beer mugs are for the duration of your cruise. The DCL link below does not mention the duration, but that said, if you were entitled to beer for life, I would think that would be a strong selling point. I would also think the $9 per 6-pack of water, listed a few items above, would also be a strong indicator that nothing is cheap, much less free, on-board.

If you ask a CM who earns their living on tips, they will most likely tell you 'sure, bring it back' every cruise. Even the officers would most likely turn a blind-eye, no one on board wants to be the mug police. When you get down to it, a few beers here and there isn't going to break DCL, but if the day comes that they sell 1200 refills on sales of 24 mugs, the program will go away. The program is designed to essentially give you a free beer mug with the purchase of the beer to fill it, not to give you beer in perpetuity, however nice that would be.

From DCL site..

Beer Mug Package
Item BEV BEER MUG PK, $14.95

Carry this Disney Cruise Line-branded beer mug to any onboard bar and get a 22 oz. refill of beer for the price of a 16 oz. size! If you find the mug too heavy to carry while onboard, then take advantage of the beer mug token. Present the gift message card for redemption at Diversions or call Room Service for stateroom delivery.

Currently the beer mug amenity is not offered on the Dream.

It's six ounces of draft beer that you're getting if you use the mug. That is quite literally pennies (of actual cost to Disney) per refill. And when you consider the markup of the first 16 ounces you are paying for, Disney is still making a handsome profit on every refill they sell - regardless of if you bought your mug on your current cruise or five years ago.

Let's not act like you're going to bankrupt the mouse by reusing a mug from previous trips.

On our first cruise in 2007 it said in writing that you could use them on future cruises. Now it says for this cruise only. It comes down to each person's ethics. DCL changes these things all the time.

That's a lovely justification. What else may I justify due to the high cost of a Disney cruise?

The point is the OP asked if it was cheating, and it is. If you can rationalize lugging a beer mug around to get an extra 6oz of beer, I'm not stopping you.
