The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves! (my journal)

Hi everyone, had a good scale episode this morning, got up at 7:30 to take Andrew to football practice, scale said about 380 again, didn't have time to eat, just went to practice with him, didn't drink much water. After I came home, weighed again and it said 376.5!! Works for me!!

Elaine's sister called today, she's the one we were planning on the Dec. trip together with. She said her DS14 had taken 2nd in a bass fishing contest (I didn't even know he bass fished!), and his prize was a couple nights lodging and food in Orlando, plus $500 towards airfare, for another contest in February. So suddenly it looks like we might cancel our timeshare exchange and reschedule for Feb. That would be ok, but I still want to go in Dec., maybe on the free dining deal if it comes up again. I SO want to go and see all the holiday stuff, Haley Joel Osment at candelight processional! I love that kid! not going to change my sig until i know more.
Talk later.

Go both times! Both times! Both times!!

Of course realize this advice comes from the maniac who went twice this year and is planning another trip that has gone from being "A 4 day quick trip to hold me over!" to "A 7 Night/8 Day Do it All Return to Pop!" hahaha!!!

Hope you are having a great night!
Mike :goodvibes

Hey Don!

I agree with Mike: Go both times!!! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo :bounce: :bounce: I am sending twice as much :wizard: :wizard: for two, wonderful vacations! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Have a great week ahead! :sunny:

Good job on keeping that scale down. And from one disney junkie - I SAW GO TWICE TOO!!!!!!

Keep up the good work and hope both trips work out well. We found out tonight that Gary Sinise has cancelled and that's who we were going to see in December so now we are still going on our scheduled night but don't know who we will get. DD was upset because she likes CSI NY and was hoping to see him in person. Oh well.

Keep on
Chris

Great job on keeping that scale moving downwards!

How are you today???

Have a good one! Keep it up

Hey Mike, no kidding, I'm really itching to do both, we'll see.

Hi Jamie, Tracy, Chris, Lisa!! Thanks for stopping by and for the good wishes.

Things are going fine, not sticking to my plan too well, but still caffeine free, and still walking every few nights or so. Getting ready for the big IL's family outing of the year, the archery deer hunt!! Watch out Bambi, Don is in the forest!! Don't worry, I've never really come close to hitting a deer, but I could have tackled a big buck once that almost ran over me. It should be a good opportunity to do some serious hiking, up and down the mountains, and then when we get back it will be that much closer to fall, so the temps should be coming down, all of which should improve my exercise tendencies. For about the last 10 years or so I've really dreaded it, because it was so hard for me to do the hiking, and even though none of the other hunters ever said anything, I felt bad not doing my part. We hunt as a large group, split into 2, half of us set up in a line at the end of a ridge, the rest start at the other end of the ridge and 'push' the deer to them. Everyone usually takes turn 'pushing' and 'pointing', but I've wimped out on a lot of the pushing for several years now. The tough part is walking out at the end of the push, the trucks are usually parked at the top of the ridge, so its a tough climb out. The area we hunt is all at about 9 to 10 thousand feet, so the air is a little thin, which doesn't help either. It IS exciting to see the deer, this method really brings them out, and we see a lot of elk too. Wish me luck! (or not! :teeth: )

HI Don!!!!

Good for you for staying soda free!!! I am so proud of you!!!

I am sure that you will do find hunting! But here is some :wizard: anyways!

Hey Don!

Hope everything is going well for you. :goodvibes Any decisions on your WDW trip? Today starts the first day of my WDW Double Digit Dance! :dancer: :dancer: Only 99 more days to go!!!!! :teeth:

Have a great weekend! :sunny:

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted for so long. Been a wild couple of weeks with the hunt and work, it kind of put me out of the whole diet/exercise mood. I haven't gained any weight so that's a plus, but I did break my no caffeine string a little. I had a 32 oz pepsi last saturday, and then a 12 oz can yesterday, but I'm recommitting now, not gonna go there.
Didn't hike as much as I thought I would hunting, and didn't eat OP much, so didn't get the bump I had hoped for from the hunt. Oh well.
DD8's baptism is tomorrow, and DS12's 1st football game, and then we're going to head down to Fishlake where DW's youngest brother and his wife work. http://www.fishlake.com/
Looks like we're going to drag the trailer down there, its about 3 hours away, should be a nice trip, but the gas prices are going to eat me alive. Hard to get excited about a camping trip while I see all the tradgedy of Katrina. God Bless all of you that were affected.
:wizard: :grouphug: :sunny:

Yeah, I'm tentatively doing the double digit dance now, my counter actually says 89 today, but its still just so up in the air. the B and SIL in Denver talk like they want to go both in Dec and Feb, but I still haven't gotten any real positive feedback from DW. We'll have to make a decision this month since if we're going to cancel our exchange and re-exchange next year, we have to cancel at least 60 days ahead. We'll see.
Bananas for all!

Hey Don!

Was so psyched to see your name in my journal again big man! Glad you're posting again. Now kick those Pepsi's to the curb!!! They ain't treating you right anyway!!! :cool1: Sorry to hear that things are still unsure for your trip, you'll get there eventually either way, I am sure! Have a great weekend and I hope that the gas prices don't hit you too much on your camping trip!

Hi Don! I just got started reading your journal - I love your sense of humor! You are doing an awesome job - keep up the good work and that extra weight will fall to the wayside. I also like the plan you are following, it sticks to the basics which is the best way to lose weight!

~Amanda

Hi Tracy, thanks for the invite to the Dec. WISH meet, sounds like lots of fun. It will be great to meet some of you awesome people.

Hi Amanda, thanks for stopping in, and thanks for your support! :teeth:

Ok, well, been a little while since I posted here, but hopefully I can recommit and start making progress again. I'm still doing well against the soda, only the occasional, and staying away from the caffeine. Eating habits have been a little out of control, too many carbs, too much carb snacking, and too much ice cream before bed!

Exercise has been on and off, haven't been walking lately, except for last Saturday, went hunting all day with my 2 BIL's. Got up at 2:30 am, got on top of the mountain about 6, and hiked more in 1 day than I did the whole rest of the hunt! By noon my legs were tired, knees and ankles kind of sore, and I kept thinking, I'll just sit out the next push, but I kept on going. We try and set up an area of forest, kind of surround it (all 3 of us!! LOL) and 1 or 2 push thru the trees towards the others. The BIL's have been hunting this area since they were little kids, and they know it well. They are also way better at actually spotting the deer, and they saw quite a few. They are more selective, looking for the really big buck, so they pass up a lot of smaller deer, and neither of them got one this year. I didn't see any close up all day until the last push in the afternoon. I was sitting on a log, trying to be alert (world needs more lerts), when i saw some deer ears moving thru the trees. They were moving up the hill straight across from me, but my 1st reaction was that it was probably a doe, so instead of raising my bow and pulling the arrow back, i just got up and tried to walk around the trees to see what it was. As I came around, a beautiful buck came around the trees to meet me. He stopped right there facing me, probably 10 ft. away, looked at me for a split second, and if I had been ready I would have got a great shot at him. I, of course was not ready!, and tried to raise my bow quickly, but the tip of the arrow caught in the brush, and the arrow nock popped off the string. Fumble at the goal line! Crapola!! In that instant Bambi stuck out his tongue at me, and bounded away through the trees. So those of you cheering for Bambi can relax, he's safe for another year. He probably has a lot better chance of being hit by a car than of me shooting him. I thought we'd do one more push before dark, but then the BIL's spotted a huge herd of elk on the next ridge, so we spent the next 2 hours driving like maniacs down extremely bumpy roads trying to get closer to them. There was one huge old bull that I saw thru the binoculars, several smaller bulls, and about 50 cows (no, really that's what they call female elk!). The elk hunt is next month or so, and the BIL's got really excited about this, I mostly just got sore kidneys from all the bouncing down the roads. So we went home sore and disappointed, but all in all, it was a good day. I'm feeling less sore today, and I should go walking, especially now that its cooled off here, should be a high of only 68.

I may have gained back a little, but I'm still at about 15 lbs. down from where I started, I kept getting close to the 20 lb. clippie, gotta get it done now!!!

DS12 Andrew's football team is 2-0 and looking powerful this year, and he's doing very well. He's playing center on offense and nose guard on defense, and they've outscored their 2 opponents 62 to 6. He's having a good time, and he makes me so proud, works very hard and sticks it out no matter how hard it gets. I haven't taken any pictures yet, but I'll get some posted here next week.

In other football news, all you gator fans should be smiling, looks like Urban is doing a good job so far. My Utes are 2-0 also, and should be ranked, playing TCU on thursday, who should also be ranked, except after beating Oklahoma they went and fell on their face against SMU. Its all part of the plot to keep the Utes down, we shall overcome!! Our Broncos looked like a pile of crap on Sunday, and Favre pretty much laid an egg for the Packers. He's my QB on 2 fantasy teams, needless to say I'm not doing so well.

Still have hopes and prayers for Katrina's victims, here's an incredible story, pretty sure its true, could be a hoax i guess: http://lonestar-mvpa.org/events/2005/05_Katrina.htm
