Hi Tracy, thanks for the invite to the Dec. WISH meet, sounds like lots of fun. It will be great to meet some of you awesome people.
Hi Amanda, thanks for stopping in, and thanks for your support!
Ok, well, been a little while since I posted here, but hopefully I can recommit and start making progress again. I'm still doing well against the soda, only the occasional, and staying away from the caffeine. Eating habits have been a little out of control, too many carbs, too much carb snacking, and too much ice cream before bed!
Exercise has been on and off, haven't been walking lately, except for last Saturday, went hunting all day with my 2 BIL's. Got up at 2:30 am, got on top of the mountain about 6, and hiked more in 1 day than I did the whole rest of the hunt! By noon my legs were tired, knees and ankles kind of sore, and I kept thinking, I'll just sit out the next push, but I kept on going. We try and set up an area of forest, kind of surround it (all 3 of us!! LOL) and 1 or 2 push thru the trees towards the others. The BIL's have been hunting this area since they were little kids, and they know it well. They are also way better at actually spotting the deer, and they saw quite a few. They are more selective, looking for the really big buck, so they pass up a lot of smaller deer, and neither of them got one this year. I didn't see any close up all day until the last push in the afternoon. I was sitting on a log, trying to be alert (world needs more lerts), when i saw some deer ears moving thru the trees. They were moving up the hill straight across from me, but my 1st reaction was that it was probably a doe, so instead of raising my bow and pulling the arrow back, i just got up and tried to walk around the trees to see what it was. As I came around, a beautiful buck came around the trees to meet me. He stopped right there facing me, probably 10 ft. away, looked at me for a split second, and if I had been ready I would have got a great shot at him. I, of course was not ready!, and tried to raise my bow quickly, but the tip of the arrow caught in the brush, and the arrow nock popped off the string. Fumble at the goal line! Crapola!! In that instant Bambi stuck out his tongue at me, and bounded away through the trees. So those of you cheering for Bambi can relax, he's safe for another year. He probably has a lot better chance of being hit by a car than of me shooting him. I thought we'd do one more push before dark, but then the BIL's spotted a huge herd of elk on the next ridge, so we spent the next 2 hours driving like maniacs down extremely bumpy roads trying to get closer to them. There was one huge old bull that I saw thru the binoculars, several smaller bulls, and about 50 cows (no, really that's what they call female elk!). The elk hunt is next month or so, and the BIL's got really excited about this, I mostly just got sore kidneys from all the bouncing down the roads. So we went home sore and disappointed, but all in all, it was a good day. I'm feeling less sore today, and I should go walking, especially now that its cooled off here, should be a high of only 68.
I may have gained back a little, but I'm still at about 15 lbs. down from where I started, I kept getting close to the 20 lb. clippie, gotta get it done now!!!
DS12 Andrew's football team is 2-0 and looking powerful this year, and he's doing very well. He's playing center on offense and nose guard on defense, and they've outscored their 2 opponents 62 to 6. He's having a good time, and he makes me so proud, works very hard and sticks it out no matter how hard it gets. I haven't taken any pictures yet, but I'll get some posted here next week.
In other football news, all you gator fans should be smiling, looks like Urban is doing a good job so far. My Utes are 2-0 also, and should be ranked, playing TCU on thursday, who should also be ranked, except after beating Oklahoma they went and fell on their face against SMU. Its all part of the plot to keep the Utes down, we shall overcome!! Our Broncos looked like a pile of crap on Sunday, and Favre pretty much laid an egg for the Packers. He's my QB on 2 fantasy teams, needless to say I'm not doing so well.
Still have hopes and prayers for Katrina's victims, here's an incredible story, pretty sure its true, could be a hoax i guess:
