Hey Don!

Have a great Thursday! :sunny:

Hi everyone, sorry I'm not posting as much lately, just been very busy here at work and at home. I'm still holding steady on the weight, still staying off the caff, but not trying as hard as I should on the diet and exercise. I guess my mind and stress have been directed elsewhere. I've got about 3 weeks before the Archery Deer Hunt, the IL's big event of the year. Its been something I dread for quite a few years, ever since I really got too big and out of shape to hike up and down the mountains. I'm in better shape than I was last year, and hopefully I'll be even a little more along by then, but not unless I get busy.

The Florida Concert Flyaway is a GO! Elaine is stressing out about it, but she's resigned to let me go. She's never really got comfortable with my dark (music) side. Anyway, the plan is to get on the red-eye from SLC to JFK Saturday night, then jump on the 1st flight from JFK down to West Palm Beach. Its supposed to arrive at 9:45, and I was going to just ride the city busses around, but I scored a Thrifty econo car for $16 total. I plan to go take a dip in the Atlantic, never been there, only Pacific. A nice person on the Gigantour message board directed me to Jupiter Beach, seems really nice. I wanted to try and drive down to the Keys, but I'd never make it, and I don't want to be late to the show. Show starts at 4:00, and the amphitheater's curfew is 11:00, so that with be it. I plan to just sleep in the car or whatever, get back on the plane to JFK at about 7, arriving at 9:45 am. The flight back to SLC doesn't leave until 8, but I have my laptop, and the JetBlue terminal has free wireless internet, so I plan to just log in and work all day right there. Get home at about midnight mountain time, back to work by 8. Wish me luck!! I'll be sure and wave to Mickey as I fly by. Funny, one of the people on the gigantour board says she's a WDW CM, I PM'd her but she hasn't responded.

Take care and have a healthy and happy week! :sunny:

Well, monday morning, here i sit in my basement office, its most definitely NOT JFK. I'm becoming king of Almost Got on the Plane. Turns out the flight sold out, and even with a SuperPass and 2 cancellations I couldn't get on. Usually flying without Elaine makes me a priority 4, behind (1) revenue customers, those that have missed their previous flight or want to fly early, (2) must fly employees, those travelling on company business and (3) normal employees and their families. Elaine worked some overtime when they needed it, so they gave her 2 SuperPasses, which bump your priority up to a 2. So, yay, i thought with the SuperPass that my chances were pretty good, so I went for it. Stood in the check-in line for about 20 minutes, shook David Neeleman's hand (the CEO of JetBlue, don't know why he was there, think he was flying back to NY, more on him later). I got the rare privelege of being one of the people select for the full security search, fab. Finally got up to the gate, huge crowd, a packed Continental flight was leaving at about the same time out of the next gate. Elaine called me, said she checked and there were now 3 1's now ahead of me, one who had missed her flight the night before, and 2 that were flying early, but that there was now 1 open seat, so 1 step forward, 2 steps back. After everyone boarded I moved and sat next to the desk, where I heard them call up the 2 that were trying to fly early. It was an old couple going to Vermont, I had stood right in front of them in the check-n line, and at first the lady was missing. My evil heart wanted her to stay missing until it was too late so I could get on, bad. She had been a special security check too, and the husband had gone on to the gate to make sure they got on. Now they were telling him that they only had 1 seat, so in my evil heart I was hoping that they would decide to wait until their NORMAL time. So who shows up but our good friend David Neeleman. He's there discussing things with the gate agents and the couple for a while, I'm hoping maybe he'll buy them tickets on another airline or something, but, dashing my hopes, he takes them and marches down the ramp, never to be seen again. Dag nabbit!! Don't know it, but I think maybe he rode jump seat, giving them his seat, dang guy. Just kidding, we love him! As do many Dis-ers I'm sure.

So, instead of swimming in the ocean and headbangin' to the sweet sounds of progressive and speed metal, I went to church and sang some hymns, then went home and had a nap. BBQ'd chicken for dinner, went for a walk with Elaine after the kids were in bed. This morning the weight was still down a little, so I reported it on the 5 for aug thread.

Hey Don!

We must have posted around the same time.... I'm sorry that your plans got changed for the weekend. Was this a once in a lifetime concert or is there a chance you could go to another one in another city?

Hope the week ahead is a good one for you! :goodvibes

Still researching that, this was the best option, cheapest. I missed them in Irvine CA, looks like the next best option for me is Toronto on Sept. 3, I would have to fly to Buffalo and rent a car. Problem is the tickets and the rental car are much more money for that, I really want to go, but I don't want to spend that much. We'll see, maybe if i'm really nice to my wife for the next couple of weeks she'll surprise me.

Hi Don!

Sorry to hear that your weekend did not turn out as planned!! But hey man, huge congrats on the pounds loss! That is an awesome plus for ya!!! :3dglasses

Hope that somewhere down the line the concert works out!

Have a great day!
Mike :goodvibes

Hi Don,

Sorry your weekend didn't go as planned. But congrats on the pounds gone!

That is great news!!!!

Hope you are having a great day!

keep up the good work!

Sorry your concert plan didn't work out. Hang in there. Things will look better when it's not monday any more!!

At least your weight is cooperating. Hunting should be MUCH easier this year!

Oh, you should definitely go to Toronto- it's a beautiful city!

Good job on the walk, even after your disappointment.

Have a good week! :)

Sorry that your concert plans didn't go as hoping too. But at least your weight is still down!!!! That's a good thing.

Keep on

Thanks for the sympathy and good WISHes everyone!

Well, its not looking good for a concert reschedule, every other date is either too expensive or not on the weekend, but! Loggins and Messina are coming to Utah in september, that should be a lovely show. I called and talked to my cousin, he's a pretty decent guitar player, we used to dream of having a band, might still do it someday, he's a big L&M fan. That's a show we could even bring our wives to. Anyone for the original version of House at Pooh Corner?! :cloud9: :sunny:

Been eating pretty well lately, except Monday night we went to Marie Callendar's for DD8's bday. All 3 DD have birthdays in Aug., and we signed 'em all up for Marie's birthday club, so we got 3 cards in the mail, each for a free kids meal and dessert. Had a really nice time, the kids were actually pretty well behaved. Marie's is a little nicer than our usual haunts, Applebees, Denny's, McD. I had a huge guac bacon burger, outstanding, and some of Andrew's turkey pot pie. Dumb thing was I got confused about what we were getting free, and ordered a piece of Pecan Pie!! $4 and gone in 60 seconds or less. Yummy, but not worth the money nor the calories, carbs. I mowed the lawn yesterday by myself for a change while Andrew was at football practice. Got a good sweat out of that in the heat of the afternoon, I usually wait until the sun starts to go down.

Hi, Don! Congrats on the pounds lost! I'd love to hear your rendition of "House at Pooh Corner"! I used to have my own Christian radio show at college, and for some reason, I played that once in a while! Now I can't quite remember what my justification was, but it went over really well and it was so sweet! I'm still a Pooh fan, too!

Sorry you didn't get on a flight last weekend. All that time wasted would have frustrated me!

Have a great day and keep up the good work on your food choices! Even the small splurges are still so much better than what we all used to do, right? AWESOME!!!!

Hey Don!
Glad to hear your eating has been going pretty well lately. You want I should make an appearance at this Marie Callendar's place and put a hit on her Pecan Pie?? Fuhgedaboutit!! :goodvibes

Hope you have a great night!
Mike :earsboy:

Christopher Robin and I walked along
Under branches lit up by the moon
Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore
As our days disappeared all too soon
But I've wandered much further today than I should
And I can't seem to find my way back to the Wood

So help me if you can
I've got to get back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
You'd be surprised
There's so much to be done
Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh

Winnie the Pooh doesn't know what to do
Got a honey jar stuck on his nose
He came to me asking help and advice
From here no one knows where he goes
So I sent him to ask of the Owl if he's there
How to loosen a jar from the nose of a bear

Help me if you can
I've got to get back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
You'd be surprised
There's so much to be done
Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh

It's hard to explain how a few precious things
Seem to follow throughout all our lives
After all's said and done I was watching my son
Sleeping there with my bear by his side
So I tucked him in, I kissed him and as I was going
I swear that the old bear whispered "Boy welcome home"

Believe me if you can
I've finally come back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
What do you know
There's so much to be done
Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin
Back to the ways of Christopher Robin
Back to the days of Pooh
