Hey, good luck with the change jar!! I bought DW an electric change sorter a couple years ago, lots of fun for her. I have a little coin pocket in my wallet, seems to get emptied regularly.

Thanks for encouragement everyone, it helps. I've been doing pretty good the last few days; I worked Domino's on Monday, no soda that night, and none since, but today is the big test. I work 8 hours at my day job, then head over to Dom's for a long closing shift. They close at 2 am on Fri. and Sat., not pleasant. I hate closing, lots of cleanup, little bits of cheese and gunk everywhere, plus it makes for quite a long day. I get thirsty, i'll have to keep my water jug handy. The pizza is not that tempting anymore, its usually not available unless its been sitting for a long time, and I'm spoiled, only like it hot and fresh. There's a new chinese express kind of place in the area with the same name as a place I used to go, it had really good stuff, pretty cheap, hope to try it out. Really good sesame chicken, but I should stick with an un-breaded meat and veggie dish of some sort. skip the rice and noodles too.

Walking's been good the last couple of days, enjoying the cool temps and the mp3's, but i need new shoes. I wear out the outside edge of the soles, and my good Fila basketball shoes I bought last year are about done. Have to start shopping again.

Scale's been inching back down, so I think the clippie is safe for now, need to get moving on the next one!!
54 days 'til Disney!!! WOO HOO!!!    :rockband: :music: :disrocks:

Hey, Don! So glad to hear you've been doing so well with soda this week. Maybe the fact that your clippie is looking safe is due to the fact that you have been doing so well with soda and walking. I am glad you have your Disney trip to look forward to. That can be a great motivator. It's getting so close, isn't it?

Congrats to your son's football team on being undefeated. Our DD17's HS team is, as well, having beaten last weekend the only team that beat them last year. She said the players feel more pressure than ever, being undefeated and not wanting "this game" to be the one where they ruin their record :(

Have a great weekend! Be sure to get out of Dom's on your break and take a refreshing walk (don't forget your MP3 player, though I have NEVER heard of most of the music you listened to yesterday! :confused3 ) Enjoy!

Glad to hear you are doing well Don!!!
Hope that your closing shifts aren't too rough and just remember how those hard hours translate to magic fun at Disneyworld!!! The WISH meet is right around the corner!!!

Keep up the good work man!

Hey Don!

I hope you had a good weekend! :goodvibes How did the shift at Domino's go?

Hope your Monday is a good one! :sunny:

Happy Monday all, TGIM? :earseek:

Well, good and bad, the usual. Friday at Dom's wasn't too bad, but Saturday got a little crazy, 2 big sodas and a latenight steak lovers pizza, man those are good! But Sunday was good again, even got the crew out for a full hour of cold, dark night-walking. Fun to see some of the Halloween decorations around, but the kids were driving me crazy!! they play tag on their scooters and there were a few mishaps, first DD10 hits me in the ankle with her scooter as she's running away from me, I was IT. Then later DS5 runs over me with his bike, put a nice hole in the back of my leg. Near the end they all turned left for home, but I turned right around the other block again. Its fun to walk with them, but I also like going alone, so I can turn up the music and not have to deal with all their brain damage, whining, making sure they avoid all the cars!! Plus no late night eating, not even our usual Sunday night treat, usually ice cream or something, so this morning the scale was a little nicer, reported 2 lbs down for the Oct. challenge. Still getting back to where I was in august, oh well.

DS12's team won again, ho hum, 48-13, the opposition actually was pretty good, moved the ball on us, but kept making mistakes, we got 2 interceptions and ran back 2 punts for TD's, too much fun. Next 2 weeks are 2 more bad teams, I really feel sorry for them, but then the last game is against our 2nd biggest rival and the 3rd toughest team in the league, so that should be a good challenge before playoffs. For these home games i've been getting to be on the chain gang, gets you right up there into the action! Fun ref crew this week too, did a good job, joking with the side judge, even learned a new thing. When you turn the ball over on downs, the chains move to the other side of the ball, so the other teams gains the length of the football. not sure if that's true everywhere. Anyway, as long as thy're winning and having a good time, it doesn't hurt so much that Utah lost again, grrrrr! This is definitely a rebuilding year, partly on the coaching staff!! Utah had 1st and goal at the 4 with 1:42 left, ran it up the stupid gut 4 times, over. Urban would have never done that!! Our new head coach is a great guy, but has been the defensive coordinator for 12 years, so thinks defensively, a little too conservative on offense for my taste. Hopefully that will be a lesson learned. Denver Broncos are looking good, and the Gators seem to have recovered from the Alabama debacle. Here comes basketball!!

Counter says 51 days 12 hours 22 minutes 32 seconds!! Woo Hoo!!

Don -- congrats to your son's team for winning again, and mostly for seizing the opportunities presented to them! DD17s team is still undefeated, as is Penn State and DS12's cross-country team, so there is a lot of excitement in my house these weekends!

Keep up the great work with your walking. Glad you took the opportunity to get some quality time alone with your music! :teeth:

Hey, Buddy, how is your day going?
Have you eaten anything interesting today?
I had a honeycrisp apple. Have you ever tried one. Very sweet and crunchy. You may want to add one to your shopping list. :teeth:

Have a great day! Hope you are out rockin to some serious tunes!

Hi Don!!!!

Hope you are having a great Tuesday! Keep up the good work. You can do this!

Just checking in and hoping everything is going okay. Keep up the good work!!!!

Howdy folks, thanks for not letting my journal totally die. I guess I've been staying away because I've really been letting things get out of hand. Weight is still holding for the most part, but I've really been lazy lately, not getting out and walking, and letting the old habits with the soda come back. I think I've just been letting the daily stress get to me, instead of doing healthy things like going out and walking, eating right, I've been escaping at lunch time to a big soda and fast food. Down to 5 weeks until the trip, and I'd really like to make some more progress before that. I need new shoes for walking and exercising, maybe that will help me get off my duff. I do love my mp3 player, feel dumb for not using it more. Thanks for not giving up on me.
In other news, DS's football team is STILL undefeated! 8-0! They've actually had quite of few easy games in a row here, but the last regular season game is this saturday with arguably the 3rd best team and our 2nd biggest rival. If we lose its a 3-way tie for the regular season title, but if we win its the outright title!! Then we have 2 rounds of playoffs, and then the Vegas tourney, so no more easy games!!
My tentative WDW plans, based mostly on the http://www.touringplans.com Best Days schedule, are as follows:
Fri Dec. 2 EP (EP has haley joel osment at processional)
Sat 3 MK
Sun 4 AK or EP
Mon 5 MK or DS
Tue 6 DS or EP or beach
Wed 7 DS or EP or AK
Thr 8 AK or DS
Fri 9 Skip, travel
Sat 10 MK or EP or DS
Sun 11 AK, travel

Most probably we'll be heading home on Friday the 9th, but I'm really hoping to be able to stay until Sunday. I was hoping to be able to get us 3 rooms for Friday and Saturday at a value resort, but Friday is being a real bugger, darn Pop Warner folks. I check everyday, but the cheapest i can get is CSR, just can't afford that. I may still talk the crew into just staying somewhere like the Travelodge, maybe double up on the rental minivan to save a little. Of course I will abolutely be at Earl's for the WISH meet, with as many as I can drag over there. I'm torn between Clearwater Beach and Daytona, I like swimming in the waves and it seems the gulf coast doesn't have much, but the gulf coast beaches seem really nice with the white sand. Maybe we can squeeze in both on different days.

Thanks again for all your support everyone, and if I don't make it to your journals, congrats on all your progress! :grouphug:

5 weeks means i can count them on 1 hand!! Woohoo!!

Hi Don,

Glad to see that you are still around. Try not to let the stress get to you. You know that we are all here for you when ever you need us. Come here to get your stress out.

One month to Disney.....how exciting. I am excited for you!!!!

Hey Don!

Glad to see you are still here and keeping at it! Maybe cold turkey was too much for you on the soday, etc? Maybe getting some of those new like half sized cans, and treating yourself with it after you have a water? I know it is not a perfect solution, just an idea to introduce moderation. :) I can't wait for Dec to be here and the WISH meet is gonna rock! hehe

MIke

Glad to see you checking in. You know, sometimes we need a break and sounds like you've found that break. But if you want to be healthier you have to kick it right back and I know you can do it.

And how exciting that you can count one hand now how many more weeks!!!!! I'm down to 56 days today and I'm getting sooooooooo psyched.

Hang in there Don - you can do this!
Keep on

Hi Don
Russ here dropping by to say hello. I am trying to read as many journals as possible especially those of us meeting on Dec 7th. I had/have a problem with pop too. Mine was Coke at home (a 2 liter a day) and Mountain Dew at work.
I first dropped to Diet Coke wow did that take a long time to get used to. Then Caffine free took another 2 months for the headaches to subside. At work strangest thing happened Pepsico decided to raise our machine price again and we voted to just have it pulled out with everyone buying their own.

Just keep at it, if there was an easier way someone would have found it by now. See you in a little over 5 weeks.

Hey Don!

WDW is getting close isn't it? :jumping1: I am sooooo excited! :teeth: Have you gotten a new pair of tennis shoes yet? You know... you'll need to break those in before going to WDW. Plus, you'll get some walking in too! :goodvibes

I hope everything is going well. :goodvibes See ya real soon! ::MickeyMo

As a matter of fact, i did just buy some new walking shoes. Dr. Scholl's from Walmart, I'm gellin'! And I took 'em out for a walk today, feeling pretty good, just a little stiff still. It was a nice walk in the Rocky Mountain sunshine, about 64 degrees.

So last night, I'm drivin' around, droppin' off pizza and chicken to the fine people, with a 32 oz. Dr. Pepper in the cupholder, and I just think "this is dumb". So here I am starting out again. All water today, went walking, no fast food. I can do November. Thanksgiving doesn't bother me much, turkey is good for you. I'm sure I'll eat well, but I have a goal, dangit! Lets just see if I can't drop a belt loop or 2 before the trip, hmmm?

So, on the football front, we have fallen from the ranks of the unbeaten. Sadness :sad1: It was a big bummer, woke up saturday, clear skies, got to the field, started clouding up, got cold, started raining just before kickoff. Rained for about the 1st 3 quarters, then sunshine the rest of the freakin' day. Boys' hands were cold and ball was slippery. We fumbled 6 times! The humanity! The other team fumbled a couple of times but we only recovered 1 from them. 13-0, cry...BUT, no worries! we're still in the playoffs, 3 way tie. Last night, good news, we won the coin toss!! So we get to play the 4th place team, then if we win we play the winner of the other 2 for the championship. The perfect season is gone, but the championship is still there for the taking!
Also, Gators looked mighty fine. Utes had the week off after beating Vegas. Still in the hunt for a minor bowl. Broncos! yowza, Eagles looked baaaad! It may all be coming together for my Pony Boys.

Hi Russ, wow, 100 lbs.!! Excellent work! I've tried the gradual decrease before, seems like for my mentality I need to do stuff cold turkey. Gonna see if I can go 0 for November. See ya at Earl's!
