The BC double charged me

So I just received my current credit card bill and I go charged again from the beach club. They charged me on the date I checked in and again on the date I checked out.

When I first checked I asked if the room had two queen size beds in it. The last two trips I received doubles and had to change rooms. Well sure enough they gave me two doubles again even though I asked. So we basically open the door and headed back down to the front desk. After a very long wait to change rooms they upgraded me to conciege.

I just found out this morning that they charged me for it, $630. After several phone calls to even get to the correct person I was told that the upgrade that they gave me wasn't free. WHAT!?!?!?!

Anyway after a long discussion with this person, I was told that they were going to charge it back, but that it was going to take a while. So hopefully this is the last I will have to deal with it.

Has this happened to anyone else or am I just lucky?

Did they say they would give you a free upgrade? I know they sometimes do this, but if they give you a room in the category you reserve and you say its unacceptable they aren't obligated to upgrade you to give you something you like. My understanding is that you are not guaranteed 2 queen beds at BC, just like you are not guaranteed a full balcony. Asking for 2 queens is just a request. If they give you a room with two doubles then they have been given you what you reserved. If there wasn't a room with two queens available in the category you reserved, and this is important to you, you should expect to pay for the upgrade.

I didn't understand about the double charging. Was that in addition to charging you for the upgrade, or was that what you were referring to?

Let me clarify. What I ment by double charged was I was charged on the day of my arrival and day of my departure. What happened was they had regular queen rooms and I would have gladly taken one of those. But they offered me the free upgrade after I had waited an hour for my new room and no I didn't ask for the upgrade it was just given to me. All I wanted was a room with two queen beds like I booked. The charge on the day of departure was correct and was for our room charges. I just hope that this is all cleared up.

Did they SAY the upgrade was free? Do you have the name of the person who handled it?

I thought the BC only had rooms with 2 queens or 1 king. I wasn't aware they even had double bed rooms. I thought that was one of the perks of staying in a Deluxe hotel.

That's what I thought, too. I knew they have some special category rooms that have the Sico beds in them, but I thought all the others were queens.

And the 630$ is not the 'room charges' for your room?

Earlier this year for a short stay I was charged 324$ at checkin and 324$ at check out.. At first I thought I had had been double charged but the truth was my room charges were within pennies of my room cost.

Go figure. :confused3

Yep I was told at no cost since. I don't know the name of the person who stated it. But she did ok it with her manager.

They have some rooms that do have doubles and I found this out on our first trip there when we were given a room with two doubles, which not only wasn't what I reserved, but I also thought that queens were a perk of staying at a deluxe. If fact since that happened again on my second stay (both times changing rooms) I ask upon check in this last time so that we wouldn't have to go through that again. But I guess I just got "lucky" again. No my room charges at the end of my stay we're less than that.

Anyway it was just a bit of a shock, but hopefully it will be corrected soon.

Last year we were staiing one night at ASM. we had a late flight in and was moving to BCV in the morning. when we got to ASM thay had no rooms so thay wanted to move me to all star sports. My family had a room at ASM so I didn't want to move to sports. CM said thay can move us because we booked a disney resort and sports is a disney resort. At this time I told him we will be moving to Beach Club in the morning so that to is a Disney resort so just move us there for the nigh. He said that is a delux resort I said no that is a Disney resort. Well it worked next thing I know we are in a van with the same CM driving us to Beach club for the night. No extra $$ was charged to be just the $84.00 I payed for the ASM. I think that the CM never told somebody no you booked a Disney resort again. Might have said you booked a Value resort next time.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

If you have a disputed charge on your credit card bill, it's often best to be working with your credit card company, as well. They are generally very helpful to good customers. I had a big error on a non-Disney bill, and they (with my permission) called the hotel and got the problem corrected in 24 hours.

Is the two double bed category a cheaper room? Is this available at other deluxes?

:rotfl2: Too funny!

I learn something new everyday on the DIS. I had no idea there was anything less than Queen beds at BC.

No, there are rooms with two double beds in them in standard view, water view, standard view concierge and water view concierge. They cost exactly the same as a room with two queens or one king or one queen and a daybed, etc. You reserve and pay for a room with a specific view which is of course guaranteed (example: standard view, water view, concierge standard view, concierge water view) but there is no guarantee of what you will get as far as bedding except if you have 5 people on your reservation you will definitely get a room with either two doubles plus a daybed or two queens plus a daybed. You can certainly request two queens versus two doubles but the request is definitely not guaranteed. Same as the full balcony versus the standing balcony. The room rates are the same.

That's kinda.... not good. I wonder why they cheaped out and got double beds in some, the difference must be minimal cost wise. Maybe they thought some people would like extra room?

Sorry you had a rough go op :(

OP, I would also work with my credit card company and immediately dispute the charges.

When did they get double beds. I was just there 11/7 and the advertise 550 rooms with queens, 20 rooms with queens and a few rooms with Handicap access? Who would pay that money for a double?

There are not a whole bunch of doubles but some of the rooms are smaller than others and doubles fit in better.

Thats just awful, on top of having doubles the room is smaller? How can they justify that for the price paid?

Most resorts and hotels (Disney and not-Disney) have different size rooms ... depending on the room location (some corner rooms are bigger but they don't charge you more for them). Basically what you are paying for are the services of a deluxe resort and the view and the rooms basically all have the same thing as far as bathroom, tv, phones, refrigerator, and other amenities. Some might be set up different because of eves, hallways, balconies, etc. Do you honestly think they should have 100 different room categories and prices for each room that is slightly different? I've stayed in a room at the Beach Club that had two doubles in it instead of two queens and it made no difference to me as to whether I enjoyed my vacation more or less. I've gotten a standing balcony and a full balcony and I know going in that if I book at the BC I may very well get a standing balcony. If that were a big deal to me, then I'd book at the YC where there aren't standing balconies. As far as one room being slightly smaller than the other room, that doesn't affect my vacation experience either because I'm there for the location, SAB, the amenities, etc. Personally, I don't spend time in my room other than for showering, changing clothes and sleeping. I don't go to Disney to sit in my room so if my room is slightly smaller it doesn't affect my experience and I don't get upset at paying the same price as a room that might be slightly larger. We got one of the smaller rooms at the GF once and I paid the same as I did when I got a larger room. It did not change my vacation experience.

If the room size and bedding is a huge deal for someone, then they should maybe stay somewhere where the room dimensions and bedding are guaranteed.

If I ever considered staying at the BC in the past, that has certainly changed if I could wind up with a double sized bed for the two of us. Sharing a queen isn't really much of an option for me either (see my signature), but sharing a double would be awful.

Does the YC have the same problem?
