I am sorry for those who thought that I was a "troll" or what ever you call it. yes I shouldnt have said the value resort of the dvc. I should have titled it bathrooms need to be fixed at ssr.
You can still fix it. Go to your original post, select "edit" then select "advanced". You should be able to change the title there.

I do consider a missing door a serious problem. SSR owners' dues go to the upkeep of the public rooms and it appears that is not being done in regards to that bathroom when the OP was there. What we see is a moment in time and at that moment the bathroom was indeed a wreck, IMO.

No we don't see that, at all. There is no broken door. The hinges have been removed to prevent anyone from injuring themselves on the metal.

We see a washroom being used while maintenance is in progress.

These bathroom doors are not stock items. Disney maintenance will need to cut and prepare a door to match the material used in the original facility. Hardware will need to be mounted. This takes time.

We have no idea how long the problem may have existed but there is no evidence to suggest (as you have) the condition of the door had to degrade so much that it needed to be replaced. The other "minor" things (peeling paper, stall coming loose) points out a lack of regular maintenance on a timely basis.. Previous posters have noted that they have found no problems in the lobby washrooms during their recent visits. I expect all these issues are rather connected -- but none of them pointing to any issue of deferred maintenance.

I have every confidence the OP found an issue in the process of being addressed.

I'm sure they removed the door in anticipation of replacing it. But ... the condition of the door had to degrade so much that it needed to be replaced. The other "minor" things (peeling paper, stall coming loose) points out a lack of regular maintenance on a timely basis. THAT is the problem and THAT is why having a gaping whole while they "get around" to replacing it is a real problem.

FWIW, I am not a SSR owner but I would be really honked off if I found a restroom at BWV or AKV in that condition.

But the damage to the stall hardware could have happened just the day before. Maybe someone inexperienced with an ECV ran into the door at full speed, or maybe a child was on an ECV while the adult was in the stall, that would certainly cause that type of damage. A lack of maintenance or the door gradually degrading would not be an issue in that at all. There is no indication of lack of maintenance if that is the case.

Even several low speed blows by a heavy ECV could yield severe damage to stall hardware.

chuck may I ask u are u male or female?

I just want people to know what I saw.

Your message would have been received in a much better tone if you would take the time to prepare your posts carefully.

It is not just an issue of spelling mistakes, but also appropriate punctuation, paragraph breaks, proper use of capital letters and not typing as though you are using a cell phone for text messaging.

You also need to know that your first post came off as rather acidic. It is no wonder that you were taken to be a troll.

We can speculate as to what happened there and for how long the problem has been there. We all agree there are issues needing attention, and OP said they were notified, and I'm sure they will be taken care off. But these things don't happen "magically" with just a little pixie dust, and been a lady's restroom, they probably need to do it during night time or not-so-busy times. Probably a better option would be to just close the entire bathroom while is in maintenance so nobody could be honked off. I'm sure nobody will complaint if they have to find another restroom available with no glitch.

well you say I have slang, spelling mistakes and punctuation. but I have no clue what a troll is. Yeah I do text message a lot, and that might be my problem.

Now that's trollish. I'm flip-flopping so much on this discussion I'm making myself dizzy! I think I'll just unsubscribe and save myself vertigo.

See everyone on another thread!

It looks like someone took a sledge hammer to the stalls. That does not look like normal wear and tear to me.

I agree. It appears some form of abuse would have had to occur in order for things to get to such a state.

But that leads me to a comment on the issue of maintenance. Our dues are certainly designed to maintain resorts to an acceptable level. The question is how the "acceptable level" is defined.

To repair the issues noted here would require:

* Close down the bathroom.
* Remove all of the hardware on the impacted stall(s).
* Repair the wall tile.
* Repair the ceiling drywall and any underlying supports that may be damaged.
* Paint, grout and otherwise "finish" the repairs.
* Replace all of the hardware.

Whether it's Disney fixing the bathroom or me repairing my own at home, that type of project is going to cost thousands of dollars--money which would come out of our dues.

If the room suffers similar abuse a dozen times per year and the goal is to keep the room in pristine condition, then we're going to pay for the repair a dozen times. And if those repeated repairs cause the maintenance staff to exceed their budget, then our dues will go up further.

It's difficult to truly get a feel for the state of the room with such close pictures. If the damage represents a danger, then obviously it should be repaired. But if there is no pending danger to guests and the issues are the type you really have to go looking for in order to find, it becomes more of a judgement call.

The wallpaper is an easy fix and I agree with others that the door was probably removed pending repairs.

As DVC owners, we may all have the expectation that our dues are sufficient to pay for the immediate repair of every loose tile, faded carpet and scratched tabletop, but I sincerely doubt that is the case.

well the way I looked at it as if he/she was a male it wouldnt make a difference to them cause they stand up and go, were I am a female and sit down. I would like a door on my stall. I wasnt trying to be mean

Male. Why?

I fully understand the desire to have an enclosed working stall, but there are ways that damage could have occured quite recently, whether it is in a men's room or ladies room.

I think the washrooms between the Carriage House lobby and Artist's Palette are the only washrooms serving the lobby, the counter service area and the store. I cannot recall if there are washrooms in the Turf Club area.

If this was the only ladies washroom for the building, then this could indicate why it was necessary to keep it open -- even if it was in a "less than pristine" condition.

I would direct you to the Wikipedia web link on Internet trolls for an in-depth explanation of the Internet troll phenomenon.

As to the text messaging -- I do it a lot too, but don't allow it to affect my use of the QWERTY keyboard. It's nice not having to worrying about getting my message across in 160 characters/spaces or less.

Apparently, you are not aware that men do sometimes need to sit down to use toilets.

They ARE the only restrooms. How do I know? Friday night we were at the Turf Club and used the restrooms

I have to say, who in the world gives a hoot about the bathrooms in the lobby area. I didn't even know they had them. Now if it was the bathroom in my unit, that would be a whole different situation. And it's wreck not reck.

ME! Have you ever been to WDW 7 months pregnant! You learn quickly where all of the bathrooms are!:lmao:

Man, I could imagine what her response was if the bathroom was closed! :scared1: I mean, even the value resorts have funcitoning bathrooms in the lobby. :rotfl2: Not to mention the anger when you learned they shut the whole bathroom down for one missing door, when there was one or more other stalls available and pealing wallpaper.....:confused3

The conditions of those bathrooms, the stalls in particular, are unacceptable. If it is recent damage, 24 hours or so, then when it is reported that should be conveyed to the individual by the person who is being notified. Not an "OK I'll let someone know" but rather "Thank-you we are very aware of the situation and are in the proess of rectifiying as we speak" ...kind of thing. If the damage is several days/weeks/months old shame on Disney.

True, but if she reported it to the front desk, they may not have been aware of the repair status. I don't think front desk CMs are briefed prior to their shift on maintenance issues that may be in progress throughout the resort. Especially if it is a part-time CM, or one that goes from resort to resort.

I certainly see your point Chuck, and to be fair I agree, but it just seems to me that there must be supervisor somewhere near by who might be more informed as to what is being done about it.
It takes three seconds to walk over and acknowledge the individual reporting the problem and assure them something is being done...even if it's "We have another door on order. It should be here tomorrow" or whatever.
