The Barnstormer

Should I not use a fast pass for this ride. Is there usually a short line?

I'd say it's normally a shorter line, but that's not always the case. The current wait time according to the WDW app is 55 minutes. IWe usually go at slower times of the year and wouldn't even stop if there was more than a 15 minute wait. I wouldn't bother to fastpass it.

The Barnstormer was my DD's first roller coaster at 3 years old. She loved it so much we rode it 3 times in a row (needed to get off and get back in line, but there was a very short line). She's now 13 and we will stop and ride it once each trip just for nostalgia.

I am taking my 5 year old GS first week in June. He has never ridden a roller coaster so I wanted him to ride Barnstormer to see if he likes it before we try 7DMT. So kinda important to make sure we ride that one

It was one of my 7 year old's favorite rides from our recent trip because it was his first coaster :-). He ended up riding all the other coasters and thoroughly enjoying them but this still remained his favorite till the end of the trip just because it was his first time ;-)
It was such a fun first introduction to coasters. The 3 yo didn't think much of it though - she much preferred 7DMT

My 4 and 7 year old love this. We like to do it early before our Fast Passes. We went to 7 am EMH last week and rode it a few times without having to get off the ride. It's way more fun that way! I keep my arm behind a kids neck because it is jerky.

I love this ride. It saved our vacation after an unfortunate GMR experience the day before. Youngest son went from not wanting to ride ANYTHING, including pitching a fit if the other two wanted to go while a parent stayed with him, to being a coaster lover. He still didn't enjoy dark rides but at least the rest of us were able to go on them!

We rode it 5 times in a row that morning. We only stopped because I was starting to get motion sickness.

I agree its a cute rollercoaster for a kids first time on a real rollercoaster (not kiddie). The length is probably perfect for them. All I am saying is do not wait 50 minutes for the ride. Its not worth it. I went during EMH probably around midnight and there was no line..thank goodness. If I had waited then got that for a ride, Id be a a lot disappointed. I cant believe people wait almost an hour with little kids for the quick nothing of a ride. I see the 50 - 55 minute wait on the app daily. CRAZY.

In late April last year we were basically able to walk on until 11:30 or so if we wanted each day we were there. Good option for young kids, but I certainly would treat it as a target of opportunity, NOT something to wait any more than 15 min for.

If there is anything more than a 10 min wait, it is very easy to pull as a 4+ FP. You can probably get the time you need just as you're walking to it. I would not recommend it as a prebooked FP although I did do that last year because it was DS3's fav the year before and we had 4 days at MK so we had a few FPs to work with.

It is also awesome that they picked a name with 3 Rs in it for a ride meant for toddlers/preschoolers. Half the fun for DH and I is the fact that it's actually Bahnstowmah.

When the kids were small, we loved riding the Barnstormer (and I love coasters). No idea why people spend even 5 seconds complaining about the quality of a ride that has been around for a while. If you want to complain about mechanical problems, that I get. Don't want to ride? Don't ride.

I don't know that it is. I took my girls on 7dmt first. Youngest was 4, oldest was 8.

They kept hounding me to ride again.

Barnstormer was a once and done for them. They didn't like how jerky the ride was.

My kids (3 & 5) loved Barnstormer back in December. We found towards the end of the day it would have no lines or easy to get fast passes. So we rode it a bunch. I agree it's short, but the kids had a blast.

I would also never ever wait 50 minutes for it! :)

I agree about not being worth a long wait. We skip it if wait is 25-30 min+, but if 10-15 min posted I will gladly ride Barnstormer. I have great memories and photos/vids of both my children experiencing the Barnstormer as their first roller coaster. DD (4) wanted to ride it as many times as we would let her. It's very short and not too thrilling for an adult but for a 4 year old I would imagine it is like riding EE. DS was 3 his first time, back in 2012 during soft opening for Storybook Circus, and we have a great video of it. I sat in seat just in front of him and DW so I was able to get a good shot of his reaction. He looks completely terrified after the first drop, but the (very short) video ends with him smiling and saying "Let's do it again!!". That trip we rode it 4-5 times and each time he told me "Daddy, hold me 100 tight" as in 100%. One of my best Disney memories!

Edit: Tried to fix some bad grammar/run on sentences.
