The BALD and the BEAUTIFUL go to DIZZY world! 4/2 epcot!

I'm currently sitting here by my bedroom window typing out another update. As I'm doing so I'm listening to the loud thunder and watching the crazy snow falling. ((snow and thunder :woohoo:)) I'll have another update soon and respond to all of your posts. :thumbsup2

Yikes! DH had talked about trying to go to Universal while we were there this trip. Sorry buddy - that's a big nope! :rotfl: We may go for breakfast with the Grinch but honestly that would be it and it would have to be in the middle of the trip. I don't think I could start or end with anything other than Disney. Is Sea World any better? I've never been but my boys love animals so maybe that one's a better shot? I just hate paying that much to stare at animals...I can do that at the zoo and it's less expensive....that's just me though! :rolleyes1

Well our trip to Universal Studos went a "little" better then it did at IOA. Except for the weather. :(

We didn't go to Sea world during the trip but we usually LOVE it. I especially love being able to feed and pet the dolphins. I wish we would have gone there instead of IOA, that's for sure.

I'm so sorry that IOA wasn't as good as your last trip. :( I've never been. I've never really been too interested but would love to go when Harry Potter opens up. I love Sea World and we would go at least once a year (one day a year military and dependents can get in for free) but we've usually only had a chance to go one day at a time to Orlando so Disney wins. Whenever we move back to the states (we're hoping for Cali or FL) we'll be going more often.

IOA is going to make a killing once Harry Potter opens. I was so sad that it still wasn't open when we went.

Im going to Universal and IOA for grad night and i never been there before and i hope i dont have the same experience. :sad2::sad2:

I really hope you don't too. Hopefully we were all just having a REALLY bad day. I noticed most of the people around us not enjoying themselves either. I wonder if management got lots of complaints that day.

Wow, doesn't sound very fun. That'd make me mad too. I hope it gets better...
I've really been enjoying your TR! Thanks.

It gets better the next day when we go to Epcot. ;)

thanks for reading! :goodvibes

loving your report, and read it all today! lol

so sorry about your IOA day, what a pain to have all those issues. I've done IOA, but would like to one day, I just have a hard time giving up a disney day- we always seem to have something booked.

love all the great pics though!! Your kiddos are just adorable!

Thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying and I'm happy to have ya here.

Well at least IOA is loaded with great photo ops.

It is hard to give up a Disney day. I really wished we wouldn't have that day, that's for sure.

Oh gosh, I can' t believe you paid more for this day than you had intended. And that is the strangest height requirement I've ever heard of. Waiting to hear about the rest of your day!

I know, really weird....

Next update coming REALLY soon....promise!

Oh my gosh! I would have been furious to pay that much money to get in and then have as many attractions closed down as you had  We've never ventured over to Universal/IOA and you certainly aren't making me want to either!

So we were now ½ way through the entire park and I had only been able to ride 3 kiddie rides thus far. This was not turning out to be the best day ever.
:sad2:

We sucked it up and made our way towards Toon Lagoon.

The first thing you come across is Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw falls, which is a water ride like Splash Mountain.

Florida033-1.jpg

Florida034-3.jpg

We were noticing that all of people coming off the ride were soaked to the bone. I originally wasn’t planning on going on this ride because I didn’t want to get too wet due to the chill in the air, but I was determined to go on at least one thrill ride while I was there. So Marsha and I proceeded to a cart that was selling ponchos and both purchased one.

Will, Victor, Valerie, Breanna, and I were first to ride. Marsha took Reya and Jayden to the Child-Swap area so we could trade off once our ride was over.

For those of you who have never been to IOA or Universal, they do the Child-Swap much differently then Disney does. . If your kids are too small or unwilling to go on a particular ride you want to experience, you can take advantage of the "child swap" program. Each ride and attraction has a child swap area where one member of your party can wait with the little ones while the rest of your party rides. Then as soon as they get off the ride, they can swap places and stay with the kids while the adults who sat out get their opportunity to enjoy the ride. You are able to take as many people as you want with you instead of just two like Disney Does. And one of the nice things about it also, is that the child swap rooms usually have toys or other things for kids to do while they’re waiting. As a matter of fact, Reya ended up gaining a boyfriend in one these child swap rooms. She was waiting with Marsha and made friends with this little boy. Long story short, they were flirting, he comes over gives her a kiss, then puts some Marti gra beads around her neck. :rotfl: You would think those beads are worth a million dollars because she wouldn't take them off for the rest of the trip. You'll notice them in a LOT of pictures from here on out. It's the sweetest thing, she says they're from her prince.

Anyway….. Luckily I wore my Poncho because everyone else was SOAKED! After I took my turn and traded places with Marsha I took Reya and Jayden over to “Me Ship, the Olive” This is pretty much exactly the same thing as Donalds boat in toon town at MK. I thought it would give Reya something to do. There was nobody else around, so she got to enjoy the boat all by herself. She loves slides, so this was her cup of tea.

Florida036.jpg

Florida035-1.jpg

While she was running around burning off steam and we were waiting for everyone else so be finished with the water ride, Jayden finally woke up, bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to eat.

Florida038-2.jpg

Once everyone met back up with us we decided it was time for lunch so we headed to "Comic Strip Cafe" which is a CS restaurant with a bunch of stuff to choose from. There was only two cashiers open and a huge line of people. It ended up taking 25 minutes to get through the line and to get the food. So that would be my 9th complaint. ((why the heck do they only have 2 cashiers when they have 50 peole standing in line?))

I however didn't have to stand and wait in line because I went outside to find a table in the sun so the girls could dry off and so I could feed Jayden.

At least the girls were in good-spirits.

Florida041-2.jpg

I ordered the chili-dog with fries and cheese sauce as did my DH. Reya had the chicken fingers with fries, Breanna had the fettacine Alfredo, Victor had the pizza, and I don't remember what the other two ordered. All I know is that everything was pretty disgusting and cold when we got it. :crazy2: Which equals complaint #10! :rolleyes1

After our very unpleasant meal we were headed over to Super-hero Island so we could ride SPIDERMAN. On our way out of the restaurant however I spotted a few employees wearing uniforms from the Jurassic Park area and asked them if they knew anything about the water ride and if it was up and running yet? And the answer was "Yes" :woohoo: So we took a small detour and headed back to Jurassic park.

When we arrived it was only a 10 minute wait, so we hopped in line. Poor Will decided to stay back because he was getting a killer migraine, so he went to the child swap area with Reya and Jayden. This was a first for Marsha and the girls so I was super excited to see their reaction to the ride.

After we had boarded our raft, we heard one of the empolyees talking to the large family sitting in front of us in the first two rows. I guess the children weren't wearing their shoes and socks, so we couldn't proceed until they put them on. The father was a total jerk, who was acting like he didn't understand english and was giving the employee a hard time. So we had to sit there and wait for the drama to end before we could continue on our journey. I was SO happy once the boat started moving! But my happiness soon diminished after I realized that there was something STILL wrong with the ride!!! After you enter through the big wooden doors that open to "Jurassic Park" there are supposed to be all these animatronic dinosoaurs popping out of the water. But NOPE!! No dinosaours to be seen!
So that is complaint #11!

Anyway, I tried to enjoy the rest of the ride regardless of the lack of dinos! So our raft continued on and soon we were headed up the big incline. As we were at the very top of the hill, right as the TREX pops out from the ceiling, the ride Operator had to stop the ride, because the stupid jerk in front of us had his camera out and was trying to take pictures and or video. The operator gets on the entercom and tells the man to put away his camera and that the ride can't continue on until he does so. The guy was acting like he didn't hear ((and trust me I know he could hear and understand)) but still didn't put the camera away. After Marsha and I started yelling at him to put the stupid camera away he finally did and then we plumetted down the big hill. The reason this REALLY upset me was because it totally took away the full effect of coming up to the top of the hill, having the trex come out of the ceiling, and then racing down the hill. The trex was motionless because they had to stop the ride, so we didn't get to experience the ride the way it was meant to be. This would be complaint #12, but I can't hold that against IOA. So of course I won't count it.

After our disappointing ride was over, I convinced Will to at least try it, which he did. I made sure to take a photo of them coming down the hill. I hope his experience was a little better, but I didn't ask.

Florida042.jpg

Florida043.jpg

Once everyone was done with the ride we headed to Super Hero Island to ride my favorite ride. On the way, I thought this was a funny sign! The toon Lagoon area is loaded with photo ops, but right after I took this picture of Victor and Marsha my camera died. (Of course)

Florida047-2.jpg

So I'll try to make the rest of this day quick since I don't have any more pictures.

Once we arrived to Super Hero Island and proceeded to Spider Man.... Guess what.................... Yep it was closed due to maintance.!

I was almost in tears by this time. We started talking and were thinking that we would just cut our losses and leave the park and go to MK for the rest of the day. But it was already 4:00 and they closed at 7:00, so we decided NOT too.

I had yet to ride the Hulk, so Victor and I got in line to ride. Will still had a headache so he didn't want to and Marsha doesn't like coasters so she stayed behind.

This is a pretty cool coaster, except it really knocks your head around. I'm starting to think that's why will had the headache that he did.

When we got off, Marsha mentioned that none of us were going to ride the Dr. Dooms freefall because while we were gone, she noticed nobody riding it and a bunch of billowing smoke coming from the top of it. ((yep another ride closed)) So this brings us to complaint 12 and 13!

I decided for the heck of it to see if Spider man was open yet, before we left. And Luckily it was. Unfortunately it was a 30 minute wait, but I didn't care because I love this ride. And since we could use the child swap I could go twice.

At least this ride didn't disappoint. I LOVE it and if you ever plan on going to IOA, it's a must.

After we rode Spider Man we went to Suess Landing once more so the kids could ride cat in the hat again. When we got there we discovered that the Trolley Ride was finally open so we were able to ride that as well.

We were actually sorta happy to leave when it was time. We had such an exhausting, disappointing day and just wanted to get back to the hotel to eat and relax.

To be continued......

So we went to Universal several years ago but I can honestly say it didn't leave an impression making me want to go back. :confused3

Now I know I don't want go for any other reason than to see Harry Potter. It's such a bummer because I really don't want to be close-minded, but I really would be so furious if I paid that much money and just felt disappointed at the end of the day. :sad2:

On a bright note, I loved the story about Reya and her 'prince.' :lovestruc How adorable!

I hope the evening was better! :goodvibes

I've never been to Universal in Orlando but we've visited the Hollywood one a couple of times. The last time we all said that they would have to do a lot of expansion before we'd ever spend the money again. It felt like it was costing almost as much as disney but with a quarter of the stuff to do. I would have been furious had there been that much of the park closed after you'd paid all that money. Hopefully the rest of your trip went great to make up for it. And I also love the story about Reya and her beads...too cute!

I've just taken 2 days to read through your entire report! Great job so far!

I'm sorry IOA dissapointed you. That really is a lot of things to go wrong in just a few hours :( The ride operator on JP should have offered you another ride since that guy messed up your suspense!

Hopefully US worked out better for you!

Wow, that was a lot of bad things in a short time! Sounds like you were able to salvage some fun though. Hopefully universal can get moving and fix some things so they can hold on to their customers! Hogwarts will definately help them, because people will want to go at least once for that.

Wow, I'm REALLY have major Disney Withdrawls today. Looking at all the snow outside my front door is really depressing. It wouldn't be so bad if my poor husband didn't have to go to work and we could cuddle on the couch with a good movie. All of the schools and most businesses are closed, but nope Not Charles Schwab. It just scares me to death when he has to drive 35 miles on those slick roads.

I did however read a nice article this morning about the FantasyLand expansion at MK and DTD. Plus how they're going to redo the Star Tours ride. ((this really needs to be done)) So that got me thinking happy disney thoughts. I just wish I knew when we'd be back. :confused3

Yeah, that's the only reason I would ever return. I really hope it lives up to the hype.

Reya is such a sweetie and makes friends so easily. The little boy who gave her the beads was crying and really upset that he couldn't go on the spider man ride. So Reya went up to him.. patted his back... gave him a hug ... and pulled a chair out for him. That's how the whole romance started. :lmao: I'm going to have to really watch that girls when she get's older. She's going to have all the boys knocking down the door. :rolleyes1

Yep, you're right. We've been to the one in California too and I agree that there isn't much to do there. The rest of the trip was much better, thank you. :)

Glad you like the story about Reya and her beads. :)

Thank you! Thanks for taking the time to read and WELCOME! :)

I agree we should have been offered another ride.

US was a "little" better! It would have been a lot better if it weren't for the rain though. ((more on that later))

It's just amazing how many rides were closed due to maintance....and almost scary. especially the free fall one with it smoking?!?! My goodness!

I've also noticed that it's not nearly as nice and clean as it used to be. It's not like disney where you see someone picking up trash around every corner.

The only things that I really liked about IOA were:

1. Child Swap. ((but ridiculous that Jayden couldn't go on the kiddle rides))
2. Spider Man
3. The Value Cup. (( you could buy a large souviner cup for 6.95 and refill it for .87 as many times as you wanted during your stay)) so it saved us a LOT of money on beverages.
4. Cat in the hat
5. The ambiance

That's it... everything else was pretty much a disappointment. :(

I hate to say it but at one time IOA was my favorite park in Orlando. Now it's my least favorite.

Once we arrived back to the hotel after our less then perfect day at IOA, poor Will went straight to bed because he still had a horrible headache and wasn’t feeling well at all.

The rest of us headed to the pool for a little bit, then back to the room for take-out from the PUB before bed.

At least the girls ALWAYS have a good time at the pool!

Up Next: EPCOT !!

I love your trip report. Reya and Jayden are adorable! I have been stalking this ;)

you know the last time we went to Orlando we went to islands of adventure... Omg. Total waste of money. The lady basically convinced us to spend 200 dollars so we could get unlimited express passes, and they weren't worth it at all. We got in there and realized we wasted 200 dollars (Something we didnt want to do but the lady told us how busy it was, ect) and there was no one there, all the rides were down (Dudley Do Right, Jurassic Park, the main ones we wanted to ride to name a few) and since we are florida residents, we headed to Disney an hour later. I cant go on with how much better disney is than Universal

Awe, thanks! And Welcome!

Glad I'm not the only one.

Wow! 200.00, that's crazy! That's another thing I hated about IOA. They don't do a fast pass kind of system unless you pay a ton of money or you stay at one of their resorts. ((It never used to be this way, they used to do it similar to Disney)) Then they got greedy I guess. :sad2:

I feel sorry for the people that paid the extra money to get the express pass. Most waits weren't that bad at all. Major waste.

I should have another update up soon.....thanks so much for reading! :goodvibes

i can't believe you were at double digit waits by lunchtime.
the childswap sounds cool with the unlimited riders but i agree with you- why couldn't Jayden ride?
Reya's prince story is ToDieFor!! I swear, dh and i have conversations once a week about dreading dating age.
i remember going to one of the universal parks when i was about ten. i don't remember what happened exactly- but i'm leaning towards rain- but the whole park closed down early and everyone was given a pass to come back. seems that the customer service is going in the wrong direction there.

Yep, your right. I really wish I would have complained to someone that day, but I hate confrontation. I think I should write a letter at least. Not sure that anything would be done, but it's worth a try I guess.

Having a teenage daughter is going to be terrifing. I'm so glad I had a boy the second time around. :lmao: I'm also glad that DSIL is going to experience it first. Breanna is georgous and when she's a little older, I'm scared for marsha and Victor. But I can learn from DSIL and her experiences with two teenage daughters before I have too. :rolleyes1

March 10th -Day 7

We were super excited this day because we were headed back to Disney. Epcot to be exact!!! :woohoo:

The sun was shining, there was NO rain in sight, No wind or Chill in the air! The weather was absolutely perfect and it stayed perfect ALL day long!!!
:sunny:

Our first ride of the day was Space Ship Earth!

Florida003-3.jpg

I had yet to ride it since the refurb and it was the first time for Reya. Once we hoped in line she started up with the drama queen act and started crying and screaming that she didn’t want to go on. :scared1: We tried ignoring her as best as possible because we knew once she actually boarded the ride and realized there was nothing to be scared of she would stop.

And we were right…… After the first minute or two she finally calmed down and enjoyed the rest of the ride. ((I wish I would have gotten pictures of our future characters, but it was hard while holding Jayden)) Once we were finished, hunger hit Jayden hard and fast. Before I knew it he was screaming at the top of his lungs to eat, so we had to skip all the fun interactive stuff to do inside the building. ((Oh well, next time))

Florida004-2.jpg

After I was finished feeding Jayden we headed to Test Track. The stand-by line was 45 minutes, so we grabbed some FP’s instead and went to Mission Space.

Florida005.jpg

I have a problem with small spaces, so I declined riding and waited behind with Reya and Jayden.

:offtopic:((I know it’s off topic but I have a funny story)) I’ll make it really quick….

So, like I said I have a problem with small spaces. Back when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with Jayden we had to do the hospital tour at the place that I would be delivering. So after our tour, the nurse who was leading the tour thought it would be a great idea to cram all 8 pregnant woman, plus their husbands, and my poor little Reya into an elevator .

It didn’t take long to realize that we were stuck and the elevator doors weren’t going to budge once we got to our floor. We were seriously crammed in there like sardines,:crowded: every inch of space was occupied. I was hyperventilating and sweating like a pig, gassy, and having contractions. So naturally I was freaking out and thinking that I was going to have my baby in that elevator. It took 30 minutes for the fire department to show up and pry open the doors for us all. ((This really isn’t that long, but for me it seemed like hours)) So ever since then my fear of small spaces have intensified. So as you can imagine I had NO desire to go on MS.:sad2:

While we were waiting for everyone to finish with MS, we found a nice spot next to the doors everyone comes out of. There was a little girl a “little” older then Reya that kept coming over to peek at Jayden.

Reya of course tried making instant friends with her like she always does. There conversation was so cute and went a little like this:

Reya: “I’m Reya”

Girl: “I’m Kylie”

Reya: This is my mommy, This is my Jayden

Girl: Do you have any friends?

Reya: Ummmmm… Balerie, Beeeeeeanna, My Marsha,

Girl: Would you like another one?

Reya: Ummmmm, yeah. Where’s your daddy?

And so on and so on! It was adorable! Reya even pointed out the beautiful beads she got from her prince charming.:goodvibes

Once everyone was finished with their ride, Reya sadly said goodbye to her new friend Kylie and we moved on.

It was already time to use our FP’s for Test Track, so that was our next stop.

Florida007-3.jpg

Reya was actually tall enough to ride, so DH and I took her first while everyone else waited behind. This would also be the first time since we’ve been on our trip that the three of us rode something together. So I was really excited.

Reya wasn’t showing any signs of being scared or worried while we were waiting in line. She was just taking in all the sights around us.

It wasn’t until after we got into the room where they prepare you for your ride, that she started freaking out. ((again)) Crying and repeating over and over that she didn’t want to go on. We started calming her nerves a little bit when she saw the car that we would be riding in. But she was still a bit apprehensive, as was I about taking her on.:confused3

We got the front row. Reya sat between DH and I. My poor baby was really unsure about this ride. You can tell by the look on her face that she didn’t know what to expect. I was trying as hard as I could to calm her nerves, but wasn’t doing a very good job.

She was holding on for dear life the entire ride. And right before you go through the “crash wall” when you’re just “sitting” there waiting for the car to take off. She tried taking off her seat belt and was saying.:scared1: “No more, No more” Then off we went full speed through the door and around the track.

Before we were let off the ride, I kept telling her she was" such a brave little girl"," and wasn’t that fun,"" and I’m so proud of you."!!! But she was almost as white as a ghost and just wanted off that ride. My poor baby! So obviously NO MORE test track for Reya. :sad2:

After we got off the ride, Reya saw this Dummy and pointed it out!! “Hey, look it’s Daddy”!! At least she didn’t loose her sense of humor!:rotfl2:

We quickly met up with the rest of our crew so they could have their turn, and the 4 of us headed to Innovations to wait for them.

On our way, we had to snap some quick photos though.

To be continued ……………………

Aww that's to bad that Reya didn't like test track, but the her conversation with the other little girl sounds adorable. I love the picture of her posing in the sunglasses in front of the floral display...too cute! The weather looked beautiful this day and I can't wait to hear how the rest of the day went

Phew, caught up again!

Poor Reya, she's fine one minute & loses it the next! At least she was brave on Test Track, the look on her face said it all though!

I love the conversation with her new friend Kylie! That was so precious!

Can't wait for more!

Well, poor Reya on Test Track. It is really exciting that you got to ride something together though!

And how cute that she made a friend! I love when DS has converstations with other kids, it's really funny what they talk about!
