The Bahamian Rum Runners! May 18, 2012 - 5 Nights on the Magic!

Any good recommendations for pre/post cruise accomidations. We are flying from Montana and are going to fly in the Tuesday prior and fly out the day after.

I'm a little surprised no one has addressed this yet.

Could you provide a bit more information, such as what your plans are for Wednesday and Thursday, and how you're planning to get to and from the ship? This would help coming up with possible suggestions.

We don't really have any definate plans for Wednesday or Thursday yet. We were thinking of either spending the two days at Disney World or spending a day at Cape Canaverial and a day in Orlando (any other suggestions on what to spend two days doing are welcome too). We are planning to take a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and then from the hotel to the ship. There will be 6 of us in our party.

We will be at WDW before and after the cruise. We will be at OKW before and taking our own transportation to the ship then after taking Disney transportation to AKV Kidani. We will not use Disney transportation to the ship. We did from BCV in May 2011 and didn't get to the ship until 2:45! They were closing down the buffet while we were trying to eat lunch.

With 6 in your party, I would recommend a town car to get you to and from the ship, rather than the shuttle. Price should be about the same as a rental car and much less than the DCL shuttle. I like the shuttle by the way but it can get expensive for a large group.

If you plan to spend time at WDW, I highly recommend staying on property as its more convenient to the parks, especially if you don't have your own transportation. WDW has hotels for every budget. Personally, I think a few days at WDW is a perfect combination with a Disney cruise, but I know some may find that a bit too much.

However, if you're thinking of visiting Universal, Sea World, etc, a hotel near that location might be better.

On the return trip there are a number of hotels near the airport - just about any brand you want and most with shuttles to and from the airport. But I would recommend the Hyatt located in the airport itself. When you get ready to leave you just walk and check-in.

I recommend you purchase or borrow from your local library some tour guides for both Orlando and WDW. These will provide you with information on what there is to do (a lot!), as well as providing suggested itineraries, hotels, transportation, restaurants, and other activities (such as Downtown Disney).

My party of 4 will arrive the day before and spend the night at a nearby Marriott or Hilton (using points) and on our return we're spending 4 days at our DVC resort.

Thank you so much for the info! We are leaning towards WDW for two days.

We are still up in the air on what to do.... we'll be driving down so we will have transportation. DH says lets go to WDW, but since I've never been there before, I kind of want to wait until we can plan a real "WDW vacation" so that I can take in as much as I possibly can over a longer span of time (hopefully that makes sense)

Some of the things we're considering are Lego Land, Sea World, and Gatorland (yes! thats my favorite animal and apparently you can even get on one! lol :woohoo: ) and I've read some where that the Kennedy Space Center was really interesting, but it's lower on our list of choices.

We haven't decided on a hotel either... we don't have points or anything, so its fair game for anything! Hopefully we can get it all figured out soon! I love knowing what I'm going to be doing a long time before it actually happens! :cool1:

I'm the trip planner for the family. For this trip I've got the basic plan made (cruise then WDW) but I haven't worked out the details just yet, such as exactly where we'll be staying before the cruise or how we'll be getting to and from the ship. I'll be getting that all done in the next month or two.

I like to fly in a day before a cruise - even if the weather is good (as it should be in May), there is always something else that can go wrong, such as a delayed or cancelled flight. Flying in a day early makes for a lot less stress.

6 Months for me until our vacation starts. Sigh of contentment...:goodvibes

Glad to know I'm not the only one counting down the days... still acting as though we are leaving tomorrow.... it's crazy. I even have a big countdown calendar at work, just to pep myself up while there...i can't wait! :cool1: :yay:

We leave in 8 days to drive down to FL and getting on our first cruise on the Dream and we're staying at WDW for a few days afterwards, including Thanksgiving. So, we're pretty excited about that. But we've still been REALLY looking forward to our upcoming 5-night cruise on the Magic, as all of our other cruises have been 7-nights or more on the Magic, we don't know how we'll like only spending 3-nights on the Dream. I'm sure it will be fun and all, but its probably too short of a trip to relax.

But I got even more excited this morning for our 5-night cruise, since I just made our post-cruise reservations at the Tree House Villas at SSR for three nights. I'm super excited because I was afraid that there wouldn't be availability. But there was!! :yay:

Hi everyone!

Add us to the list! We just got off the Wonder on Sunday and re-booked for this cruise while we were on there, can't wait! :)

We are in Cabin 6054, and would love to participate in the FE group! Had so much fun with it last week. :) My name is Elizabeth, my husband is Aaron, and my two sons are Aidan (5) and Zachary (2 at the time of the cruise). My parents will also be traveling with us again.

Can't wait to get to know you all! :)

Woohoo!! :)

I actually go by Liz for the most part, but I usually introduce myself as Elizabeth for whatever reason. ;)

Kristin, magicfan75 is actually my DW Jessica so you don't have to put her separately on the FE list.

We just got of the Dream yesterday after a very short 3 day cruise. Those of us used to longer cruises are looking forward to something longer, so we're excited about the 5 day in May and we booked on board for another 7 day (on the Fantasy) in Nov 2013.

The Dream is awesome. We really liked the new ship. I've been so comfortable knowing every inch of the Magic I forgot what it was like to have a brand new ship to explore and 3 days was just not nearly enough time with everything else to do.

Happy Thanksgiving. We're off to Animal Kingdom tomorrow...

I hope everyone in our group US -based are not damaged by the Black Friday shopping. We will be staying home. Our girls have prizes from Santa but the gifts form their parents are DD19 - Waterski on CC and DD10 (birthday yesterday) gift is on present at the parks and present at the ship.

Thank you Prozac for doing this. Its terrific.

I have a couple of friends who went out to Ross Park mall at midnight last night and were out til 5 or so! I was safely trapped in my pharmacy though, so no spending for me. Cruise-related presents are always good!

I've been organizing our surprise gift of the cruise for my in-laws, hubby's sister, and hubby's grandma. I have all kinda stuff prepared... I'll post the pics on here once I get everything together. I'm sure it won't be quite as adorable as surprising a little kid with a Disney trip, but I'm excited nonetheless! :yay:

I'll keep updating the FE list as we go! Again, let me know if anything on there needs changed with a PM!

I stayed at home all day as well as I hate crowds and traffic. I had to venture out on Wednesday and found the rush hour had started about 10am and only got steadily worse. I had no desire whatsoever to go out on Black Friday.
