on Valentines Day according to a news report I heard over the week-end.
So are you average, below average or above average when it comes to your Valentines Day spending?

I think between all the cards, bags and boxes of candy, small gifts for teachers, t-shirts for the kids, etc. I am about average. ;)

I just heard on the radio that the average man spends $160 on his wife. I guess we're doing all right, eh?

I spent about $60 on DH and about $10 on each kid, so that's $80. I'm pretty close to the average.

above average, only because we've never done anything on Valentine's before, we've been saving a lot and it's starting to get boring so we wanted something cool.

I bought Dear SO and PSP, 2 movies, a game and a case. Dear SO bought me a PSP, a movie, game, case and a pair of jeans.

We will cook a nice meal together at home and we won't do anymore spending for a while.

We're way below average -- we all give each other big hugs and kisses (free) and our oldest DDs take valentines/candy to school (about $5). ;)

I spent a little more on dh this year.... I never know what to buy him but this year it I asked dh for a new wedding ring because i've come to NOT like yellow gold and only wear white gold. So since I knew I was going to get that, I went out and bought him a new wedding band in white gold too so we will match.

I think i'll end up spending about $100 this year, got a GREAT price on the ring.

My boyfriend hasn't gotten me anything for Valentine's Day for the last 8 years, so I'm betting he will bring that average down. :teeth:

Way below in our house. Spend very little on each other. We like to save money for travelling.

Yeah, I guess we're about average too. Teachers gifts, bus drivers, youngest DS's therapists, kids in class.....geez.....almost like Christmas again! :rolleyes2

I spent $0 :teeth: Course I probably should have at least gotten a card for my mom but I wasn't home long enough to do that. That's a valid excuse right? To be honest though I pride myself in not giving business to Hallmark for V-day because I think it's a stupid holiday. But that's me.
I have to say it's days like V-Day that I love being single

Now my mom on the other hand got me Lindt chocolates and a new swimsuit. She's going to be getting my sister a swimsuit and who knows what she's doing for my stepdad. So she'll be above average in spending

I hear ya! Wanna know what I bought my DH?

A card. That's right, out of the money I spent he's gonna see about $3 of it! :teeth: The rest is for the kids classroom parties (3 different classes!) cards, candies and little gifts for the bus driver, the teachers, the school secretary, etc.

But I am not complaining since DH and I aren't big on Valentines Day anyways and the people at school really deserve it.

Hopefully we can recoup just in time to do it all again for Easter!!!! 4 Easter baskets, classroom parties, etc. Never-ending, I tell ya. Of course with kids it never is. :goodvibes

I had gone over since I bought something for my DH, DD, a friends child, and cousin's kids.
Then I bought steaks and such today for dinner.

Between dinner, drinks and a small gift I will be about average.

A swimsuit AND chocolates! Don't those two contradict each other? :rotfl2:

LOL yes they do. I've been pawning the chocolates off on the kids on my dorm floor in an effort to actually have that swimsuit fit by the time swim weather rolls around in, oh about July :teeth:

So true!

No candy for us in this house. I'm starting weight watchers tonight! I'm not kidding. My meeting is at 6:30! I need to loose 10 pounds!

I spent more than average this year.

DS14- $30 itunes card
DS8 and DD5- Krazy Kars ($100 plus shipping)
DH- He gets to see the kids ride on his favorite childhood toy(Krazy Kar) (he has no idea I bought these or that they exist anymore). He's going to flip seeing the kids on them!

Wow! We don't really do anything. The boys are too old to want to do Valentines anymore. I did buy a $2 card to send to a girl I mentor, but other than that I've spent $0. I'll probably make some cookies or brownies tomorrow, but that's it.

I'm above average but that is because I buy for DH and 3 kids. DH buys me and the girls roses and I know they cost over $300 just for those.

Wow we hardly spend anything and if I do its always the day after valentines when everything is 50% off :lmao:

I dont get the kids candy, they dont need any sugar

Dh and I dont really get each other gifts, but I will buy my daughter a birthday present since her birthday is Feb. 15

Bus drivers?!? People give Valentine's gifts to the kids' bus drivers? Am I way out of it or is this a bit over board? They are not our loved ones...why do they get a Valentine?

I give the bus drivers something at Christmas and the end of the year...that's it.
