The Apprentice- Martha Stewart

You could tell Martha really likes Marcella. That was the nicest letter she has written anyone. I think she was disappointed she didn't work out for her.

I wouldn't be surprised if Martha offers her a position. I can see Marcella being a good employee for MS, just not an executive level apprentice.

But really, she kept her as long as she possibly could.

It was her sugar buns Martha liked.

I'm pretty sure Bethany is going to win this thing - and that drives me crazy! I was impressed with Jim just for pumping Marcella up before Amanda got fired. That changed my attitude for him. Although calling Martha cute was strange.

Dawna seems nice so I'll go for her or Jim before Bethany.

The question now is...is this Dawna's to lose?

Jim has gotta be gone after the interviews. [Side Note: Jim is from the Philly area and he calls into the Philly am sports station. The sports guys can't believe they're watching Martha and they can't believe that Jim's made it this long either. BTW, when he talks to these guys he seems so calm and cool and together.]

So then it's down to Bethenny and Dawna. It's got to go to Dawna, doesn't it? Bethenny really hasn't done anything...but she's a natural foods cook. Would Martha go in that direction?

Thoughts?

Off topic: Slacking, couldn't agree with you more about Marley and Marley....OOOOOOOHHHHHHH........Muppets Christmas Carol is, in my opinion, the most entertaining version of A Christmas Carol there is.

I think when Jim has to be officially on--he's probably quite impressive. Unlike the challenges and a reward meal--an interview is an interview. At that point it is no longer a game. Nothing he can do during the interview with the other contestants at all. Now--he might find a way to sike them out before the interview. But after the incident in the grocery store--though he's still a goofball and does a few nutty things in the competitions.....he has toned it down and maintained a mostly professional presence when he needs to. Hence calm, cool, collected in those phone interviews.

I wanted him gone early on---and he seems pretty decent at this point. I'm glad he was able to stick around and not get the boot. Looks can be totally deceiving. I totally expected him to be the lush thanks to the promos (2nd time they played a promo to make it seems like he screws up royally--and he fails to follow through ;))--and he totally wasn't at all. He played it up (oops--I think a drop got in my mouth)--but he didn't do anything.

I'm sure Martha can whip him into shape. Anybody know what his record is?

I think we were given hints last night of Dawna's weakness during the Scrabble game. It looks its Dawnas game to lose, but I would not be surprised if she does lose. I also wouldn't be surprised if her final 2 competitor is................ Jim! There's defnitely been a Jim vs. Dawna storyline bubbling the last few weeks, and what better way for that storyline to climax then to have them faceoff in the final 2. I know reality shows don't quite have storylines that are followed but they can defintely be created in the editing room after the fact, and the Dawna vs. Jim thing has been pretty evident.

But if Jim is talking to the media, thats a sign to me that he may not have made the final 2.

Honestly, I have no idea whats going to happen, and thats why I've loved this show this season (much to my surprise!)

I'll say again, these 3 are sooooo weak. I watched the Trump version tonight, and all 6 of those people are better than the final 3 on MS. In fact, there are probably 10 or so on Trump better than these 3. I can't even imagine any of those 3 being an exuctive for my company.

I give Bethany lots of credit. She came up with the concept for both the Buick and Song campaigns that they are actually going to use. Not sure who I want to win though. I think I am secretly rooting for Jim.

This was said before, and I disagreed with it at the time, but now I'm starting to believe what I'm going to type.

Martha and Trump are two very different people running two very different businesses. Whereas Trump is looking for someone with a strong business background, Martha doesn't seem to care about that. She's just looking for someone to "fit in" with some aspect of her company. While I thoroughly enjoy Martha's show (sometimes more than Trump's simply because of its pure camp value), I am disappointed that we still don't know what Martha wants from her "apprentice." Does she want someone business oriented? Does she want someone who can help her think up recipes? The problem is that we don't seem to know what she wants exactly. It's still a hoot to watch, though.

This might be reaching, but maybe jail has changed Martha's attitudes toward people. She seems to have an interest in them succeeding and hopes they find the direction that works for them. I like that she tells them why they were being fired. I loved Marcella, but understood her weaknesses and am glad Martha said "here you have to push to get your ideas through". Just my thought, however crazy it may sound.

'You played it your way, now I'll play it mine. The game is over and you're outta here.' :rotfl: :rotfl: Her lines get more and more priceless every week! And that one sounded like it was plugged in after the show. I wonder what she said to the person in person?

Spoilers for west coasters?

Sad to see Jim go, but............... we'll still get to see him in the final task! Woohoo!

Kind of funny that bethenny had a hard time choosing a team.

The fact of the matter is that after watching tonight's episode, neither of the Final Two impress me all that much. Bethenny is overwhelmed with her task (which I must say seems to be incredibly more intense than Dawna's -- does Dawna even have to do anything for the charity itself?) and it doesn't help that the only person that seems to be working for her is Jim.

And poor Jim...he just doesn't know when to shut up.

This may sound weird, but it was painful for me to watch Dawna and Bethenny's tasks. Both seemed like trainwrecks.

And I can't stand Amanda. There was always something about her that rubbed me the wrong way.

Am I the only one who likes Jim? Yes, he should have gotten the boot for his silly interview - but he seems to let things run off his back and want to help Bethenny out. I agree with Amanda though - she is an opportunist. There was an mini-interview with Martha in Time or TV Guide (can't remember). She said she didn't get to see the films of everyone until after the filming was finished. Her words were: "I didn't realized how awful _______ was." I could have sworn it was Amanda, but I'm not sure.

Castleview, Jim was my absolute favorite! Without him I doubt I would have been so interested in this show! He was just a great and hilarious character to watch.

UGH yes very painful. But, I have to think editing is making it worse. I also think Bethenny's task is much harder. I work in event planning. That Circus will be a lot more work than that Fashion Show. God, they couldn't even put an outfit together @@.
BTW, when planning these big events, it's highly unlikely you would have two days to put it together. Especially with a staff of three. Not very realistic IMO.

Ok, I missed the first half of the show. Who said the quote above? Martha?

I think this show is so funny. What in the world was Martha looking for? I just can't figure that out based on the final 5 canidates. And then to end up with Betheny and Dawna as the final 2 - they couldn't be more different.

And I think both teams are a disaster! Poor Betheny. Jim was right when he said she didn't have any friends. Why did she pick Carrie?

And I have to wonder why Dawna chose Amanda? Did you see Amanda criticizing the outfits right in front of the Liz Claiborne people?

I can't believe how no one at either venue is helping the PM. If I was planning an event at a location that had other events in the past, I'd expect the venue's management team to cue me in on what has worked in the past and what hasn't. I couldn't believe how many times each PM was told that they were the manager, they need to tell the venue what to do and not the other way around.

Even the best planner, with tons of experience, would get suggestions from the venue's staff. Sometimes even if it wasn't welcome, I'd think.

I agree with the person who said above that there is no way that these events are pulled off in 2 days by a PM and three others. How many of us, if we had gobs of money to spend at charitable events, or even an employer who sends us to these events would be able to fit one into our calendar with a day or two's notice? Not likely, I'd say.

Heck, the Liz Claiborne people didn't even want to make suggestions as to which outfits would go best together in a fashion show, or at least how to group them.
