The anti-dining trip report that could have been a disaster but ended up being Yacht-some!! April 2021 at The Yacht Club! Complete 11/5!

Whoo you cranked out alot of updates after your little absence! I kept checking to see if you'd been back

I know! I got on a roll that day, and now I'm hoping to finish and maybe start our August TR before we leave in 3 weeks!

I get it, but funny enough on just about all our post-COVID trips we've spent MORE time in AK than normal! I think it was just so easy to take our time with no crowds even last month

But didn't you run out of things to do?? Aside from Nomad Lounge, I feel like we did everything we wanted.

Um......not saying ANYTHING that popped into my mind when I saw this picture @kastoney I'm leaving it ALL up to you!

And now I cannot un-see that!

We haven't eaten at San Angel since Feb of 2019 but we had a great experience there; liked it better than La Hacienda. Although the current menus have us booked at La Hacienda for this month as that one now looks better so we'll see.

I'll be waiting to hear what you think, maybe we'll try that one next

We loved doing the scavenger hunt in April or June, we didn’t do it this past trip only because we forgot about it!

Oh, no! It was a fun one too and we got the cutest Remy and Minnie bowls as a prize!

I also really love the Epcot scavenger hunts! So much fun!

I wish I had thought to bring that sock monkey with us!

OUR EARLY MORNING COOKIE QUEST

Good morning, from the gorgeous Yacht Club…

this was the view from our balcony this morning and I had to sit and savor it a bit

But not for long!

Allie and I had one thing on our minds this morning…delicious, half-pound cookies And there was only one place to get them.

So Allie and I got ready and took an Uber to Disney Springs to get in line at Gideons,
while my mom and Ava took their time getting ready
and then came later on the bus to meet us.

9:40 am, about 10th in line…not bad.


Waiting so patiently...


I love these little cards that are really the menus...




10:24 am, it was finally our turn.
Actually not too bad of a wait.
At the time, if you weren't among the first 20 or so in line,
you would get a text to come back.
But I've head this is no longer the case as it just isn't as busy as it was initially.


This was my first time in there, though not my first time trying Gideon's cookies
since Allie had brought some home from her trip with her dad in January.

I love the art work in there, and the store is just super cute, in general.


But let's be honest…we did not come to look at art…we came for the cookies...






We sat outside and tried our cookies.
Allie had the triple chocolate and I had the coffee-cake cookie.
Both were amazing, but hers was better.
We ended up buying six pounds of cookies that day to share and bring home.

Luckily my mom and Ava showed up soon
and we could put them in her scooter instead of carrying them around!

ROLLING DOWN IN THE DEEP

At 11:41, this came rolling up

All I think of when I see this is that song on Tik Tok...

We were just happy they made it there and didn't end up at say,
Hollywood Studios, or something!

Of course, we had to hit the World of Disney...




We just poked around the shops for a bit
and then decided to try out The Chicken Guy for lunch...




I got the southwest salad and everyone else got the tenders.
I have to say, I don't really eat fast food, like EVER, but this was very good.
So good, in fact, that I kind of want to go back in October

Shortly after, we headed back to The YC but didn't stay long,
because we had our special dinner with Cinderella to get to.

Ava got all dolled up...


We headed to the bus stop where we had a little wait,
but Ava kept us entertained the whole time

That call must've gotten her exasperated because then Allie got this gem on Snapchat,
my favorite pic from the whole trip


When our bus arrived, it was so perfect that it ended up being the Frozen bus!


When we arrived at the MK, we had a honey of a welcome from these guys...


and then ran into a Princess Cavalcade...

The perfect way to head to our dinner in Cinderella's Castle!

I don't think Gideon's is as crowded as it was then, but you know what was even better than the cookies? The Red Velvet cake! I tried that in August and it was the best cake I've ever had!

Yeah…probably too much but we were bringing them home to share, which meant lugging them on the plane too. When we went in August, we just got some for the room and brought just a couple home.

I did look for Danielle once at the Flavors of Fire booth, but not the night you said she'd be there. Once I thought it was her, but I wasn't close enough to be sure so I didn't say anything. That booth was my favorite, by the way!

Thanks for looking for her. We had a few snacks from that area and really enjoyed them.

All in all, not our best meal but I'm glad we tried it
and I might actually go back and try it again when I felt better.

Haven't been here in years but would like to give it another try.

OMG she's hysterical

I was able to try a Gideon's cookie as Jenny picked one up for us last month and it was GOOD!!! Brought it home and other than my small piece and a little bit Steve took, Chris finished it off lol. I wouldn't mind getting some again but no way I'll wait on a long line. If it's a call back type thing and I have things to do/plan on hanging around DS that's fine but I'll have to see what the situation is when we're there. I would like to see inside!
