The Amazing Race starts tonight

I hate when the teams gang up on any team. I also hate that the way the played the U turn. I wish they would change the rules. That once a team has made it to the U turn they can't be U turned.
Relatively certain that's already the rule. Michael and his partner were already past the Uturn when there was an attempt to use it on them.

and not allowing a team to "try" to u turn any other team takes away part of the play. Often they teams don't know who is in front of them, they don't know if they are wasting their u turn pick

Nobody is forcing anybody to click on any link, even one included to provide support for a statement. It should be possible to Google 16 things you didn't know about The Amazing Race at have that article appear. Not how I got there, but that way there's no issue with links

As for spoilers, well, I'm the one who first suggested in this thread using the spoiler featue. I know you front know me, but it's unlikely I would then link to a spoiler.

Plus, the link is from 2015 :)

:thumbsup2:

Well, that makes sense.
Whinier isn't necessarily weakest. I think those teams want to get rid of the complainers first, then ideally work to eliminate the strong teams.

But that is such a bad idea imo. Now they are all buddy buddy. Next weeks clip shows one team getting mad at another for not "helping" them. It's like those 4 or 5 teams are playing as one team. You can't do that. You have to turn on each other, you can't all win.

Getting rid of the weaker teams only hurts you in the end. It will get harder to beat the strong teams as the race goes on. They had an opportunity to try to get rid of a really strong team. If it were me, I would rather have the weaker teams around, they are easier to beat in the end. Who cares if they are annoying? All I would care about would be getting rid of strong teams to better my chances of winning.

They are playing it like it is a popularity contest, keeping around the teams that are "cool." Well you don't win the race based on how cool you are. It just always surprises me how the teams hook up socially and play the race like it's a cocktail party instead of being strategic.

Relatively certain that's already the rule. Michael and his partner were already past the Uturn when there was an attempt to use it on them.

It is allowed to uturn a team who is past the u turn. One team, the butcher and Liz, were u turned and they already passed the u turn. They did it to throw away the double u turn. That way Ashton and her partner could not u turn anyone else and the u turn did not have any bearing on the butcher and Liz since they were past it.

I remember one season a team was in last place, but they thought there was a team behind them. They U-turned them not knowing the team was actually ahead of them.

Once the teams learn how to work the system though, they use it to their advantage.

If I had to U turn someone based on how annoying they are, it would have been that Brooke chick! I was ready to rip my own ears off after hearing her cry and whine and say, "Oh dear me, I just can't do this!" for the 100th time! Look, chick, people have helped you along this far. Now quit making women look weak and put on your big girl britches and woman up...or shut up and go home! Geez. And her voice gets shrill when she yells. :headache: I just could not stomach her as my partner. I actually think her partner is waaaayyy more patient with her than I would be!

I felt bad for Vanck and Ashton. I really admire their positive attitude when they found out they were U-Turned. I still don't understand why the other players didn't gang up on a stronger team. It was foolish. Part of the strategy about the U-Turn is that sometimes the teams don't know who is in front or behind them so I don't think they should change the rules.

I was pretty annoyed at how the whole episode played out--from the "mean girls" aspect to Brooke yelling at her partner to tell her how to climb up that rock face. I'm really scratching my head on the decision to U-turn a weak but unpopular team--it's like they think this is Survivor, and they need votes to win. Does Brooke really think another team won't beat them to the mat towards the end? Or stop helping with tasks once the numbers dwindle? It seems very short-sighted.

This is what I have been saying. Stupid stupid stupid. Who cares if a team is annoying? If they are weak, keep them, it will help you get further. Why on earth they kept the strongest teams is beyond me. It is not a high school popularity contest. It's like they don't understand, you can't win as a group. Your whole little clique cannot win together. It's just you and your partner.

IIRC, Matt and Redmond made a BIG DEAL about getting U-Turned by Vanck and Ashton and threatened to get back at them. I wonder if it was done as payback in order to be protected by a stronger team.

Maybe, but it's still dumb to keep a strong team around. How long can they protect weak teams? Matt and Redmond are looking out for Matt and Redmond. The other teams should be trying to get rid of them.

For the life of me I could not understand why they wouldn't try u-turning Matt and Redmond, not that it worked the last time.:rotfl:

I want Brooke to get eliminated in the worst way. I've been watching this series forever and she is one of the most annoying contestants to ever be on the Amazing Race.

The luggage task was pretty funny. :thumbsup2

When I saw Redmond and Matt rock through that challenge and cross the finish line before anyone even started the mask thing, I was like, "how do you all feel now about u-turning the annoying, but weak team?" Should have u-turned the strongest. Still SMH at that little strategy by the "cool kids" last week.

There was an emergency weather broadcast during the last 10 minutes. Can someone tell me who got eliminated?

It was a non elimitation ...the guy with the red beard and his partner came in last ...they were close too two or three other couples that made it the mat first.

Did anyone else find it kind of mean that they were going after Vanck and Ashton (i think that's her name?) It felt an awful lot like high school. Even the youngest team, becca and Floyd were kind of uncomfortable I think.

I would think you would WANT a weaker team in the race so you have a better chance of beating them later on. Lets face it Vanck and Ashton were not a strong team. They were bickering, were not very strong etc. and they would eventually implode and get eliminated on their own. They should have gone after and U-turned one of the stronger teams like the boys (redmond and the surfer), or the guy from Boston and that girl. Try to get rid of a strong team. It was so weird to me how they all were acting so cliquey. In the end, you do not want to be racing against a strong team. It's not a popularity contest. Try to get rid of the strong and keep the weaker teams in. Seems so simple, but their strategy seemed to be, "lets keep the cool kids!"

Cant stand the girl who falls apart at every challenge. She complains and whines and says over and over "I can't do it" while sobbing. Then she does it and starts jumping up and down saying, 'I did it! I climbed up there! Yay!" Reminds me of a toddler. Her partner seems a little snarky too.

YES! It was like a bunch of middle school bullies ganging up on the nerdy kids. So sickening to see adults acting that way.

I wish they would change the placement of the U-turn back to where it used to be... AFTER the teams complete one side of the detour, not before. Then it was much more strategic. Teams didn't know if teams doing the other side of the detour were done yet, strong teams who finished quickly could play nice since they already had a lead, teams in the back of the pack were more desperate to U-turn someone else that was behind them…
Now, everyone arrives at the U-turn at roughly the same time and it's more of a popularity contest than strategic. Although the team who U-turned Seth and Olive in the first U-turn did it because they were a strong team, IIRC.

I can't believe they aren't trying to get rid of the strong teams. How many times do Matt and Redmond have to lead the pack before the rest of the teams get smart and u-turn them. I'm wondering why Brooke the whiner keeps doing the tasks and not her partner. Don't they have to do a certain number of tasks each? She did really well with the painting didn't even whine.:rotfl:

Brooke and Scott are actually equal at 3 each. Maybe they weren't one of the highlighted teams on a task he did. The rock climbing last week was a detour, not a roadblock. And if I were him, even without the fear of heights, there's no way I'd trust Brooke to be my belayer, even with the safety spotter's help.

Ashton and Vanck did u-turn Matt and Redmond and they still finished top of the pack. Look where it got them. I wish there was a limit on U-Turns and only 1 was blind like in past seasons. It seems like they've keep diluting all of the elements of the show and now it's practically formulaic. I also noticed that the upcoming routes were spoiled on Wikipedia. I know that there are often teams spotted while racing in various cities, but I like to try to keep spoiler free and watch the route unfold.

I had read that they still have eliminated teams race, to throw off people who may take pictures and try to spoil which teams are in the top spots. They just don't show the eliminated teams racing on tv. So if you see 6 teams racing, there really could only be 3 real teams racing. The other ones are decoys who were already eliminated.

Yea, I know about the decoy racers. But usually if you don't read spoiler sites the actual route isn't revealed. This time someone posted the route on Wikipedia.
