~ The Amazing Race ~ Season 16 ~

I read an interview with Joe and Heidi on my Kindle (hence no link). Joe said they spent five to six hours on the morse code. He said one big problem (beside not knowing Morse code) is that the tape they were listening to was looped: hence they could not tell what was the beginning of the message. He also said that the planes buzzing overhead and explosions did not help with their concentration.

WOW, that's a long time! I was wondering if Joe would have been able to do the four mile bike ride if they weren't U-turned or got it right away. But, to me, it looked all downhill.

I figured there must be a big lag between racers. The beauty queen and boyfriend rode back 4 miles, got the other clue and rode back 4 miles again and were still in 6th place.

They must have been exhausted riding 12 miles total, but I must say, they did not complain.;)

and what did she think she was signing up for? They are driving me crazy with all the complaining.

Also, I am really tired of how Jeff treats Jordan. Even on BB he had her thinking she wasn't contributing. She's just too sweet to tell him to knock it off.

Now see I don't think there is anything wrong with how Jeff is with Jordan, when he said about how if you tell someone that they have a 1 in 8 chance at a million bucks they would try a lot harder, that put things into perspective for me! Jordan does need to try a bit more.

I agree. I don't think he is being ugly to her, just trying to get her to realize the urgency of the situation...especially considering they were in last place.

I agree and she already had a good chunk of change in the bank from winning Big Brother, so her motiviation may not be there compared to Jeff's.

ITA!! Unfortunatly (sp?) I don't think they will be on too much longer- as she just doesn't seem that motivated. I love them- but not thinking they will be going too far.

My favorite line of his was from two weeks ago when he said that they definitely shouldn't breed. :rotfl2:

His one liners are hilarious.

Yeah, the breeding joke was pretty good, but the little homage to National Lampoon's European Vacation was what won me over (while they were driving in circles in the traffic circle he nonchalantly said "Big Ben Parliament" !! :thumbsup2)

I had my fingers crossed hoping they would U-Turn the lesbians. No such luck, as I can't stand them.

I would pay GOOD money to see Brandy melt down trying to do that!

I thought taht it was in a loop, but looking at it this way, you would probably still be able to figure it out:

(I don't remember the exact phrase, forgive me)
valafrancethewarisovervivalafrancethewarisovervi

If you transcribed all of that, and were a semi-intelligent person, you would probably pick out two phrases there: Viva La France AND The War Is Over. Take the phrase to the guy. If it's in the wrong order, transpose and try again.

Does anyone know if there are any spoiler sites out there for the show??

www.televisionwithoutpity.com is a great website! I go there after all the TV I watch.

Well that really stinks!!!!!!! I really liked Joe and Heidi. That was not a good reason in my book to U Turn them. I hope it comes back and bites Michael and Louie big time.

Kim

I think that the cops needed to U Turn a strong team and they not only were strong, they were cocky. As far as karma, this is a competition, and while it pays to be nice to each other and mind the comments you make it would be rediculous not to use a tool to your advantage. Joe sealed their fate when he got mouthy especially after the line cutting thing.

Pleased with the outcome. Too bad it wasn't true "blind" u-turn, but it served its purpose. I always get a kick out of the teams feeling "picked on" when they have to do a u-turn. In this case, the cops (to the cameras) made it clear that it was a put-your-money-where-your-mouth is move.

Joe was too cocky on the bus to say the comments he did within ear shot of everyone.

.

ITA. No one wants to be the team that got turned but I wonder what Joe and Heidi would have done in the same position.

I got a chuckle over the whining lesbian. I cannot imagine dealing with her on this race, she makes the beauty queen look like an endurance racer!

+1

It always amazes me how people on reality shows and their viewers wonder why someone "U-turns," "Blindsides," etc. when presented with the opportunity. It's a competition for a large sum of money, not a summer camp. It was a good move by the cops, but I think the best move would have been to u-turn the cowboys, one of my favorite teams. Joe had a bum knee, so they weren't going to make it far, but revenge for the line cutting situation sure is sweet.

I think that the cops have a pretty good relationship with the cowboys and Steve and his daughter and figure that they can work with them if they need to. Not so with Joe and Heidi so if they had to pick a couple why not get rid of one with the potential of regrouping and who you just don;t trust?

I have always been a Jorff fan but............I am ready for them to go! Jordan looks sad, nervous and tortured! Her blank stares, wringing hands, and being highly bothered by sound, the texture of food (saurkaut) and clothes (helmet) reads as "whiny" but I think it's partly caused by the learning disablity. My heart goes out to her! She must be so worried about "messing up" and she can get so easily confused. She has been very kind in saying that the stress is causing them to bicker--it's more Jeff's impatience, competivie nature and greed that is causing the bickering. They're both funny, sweet people and I don't think AR brings out the best in them! AR doesn't appear to be much fun for them. Ready to say bye to JORFF!:goodvibes

I like your take on this. :thumbsup2 And won't they have fun in Mexico's Elimination Station! (and Shannon will be thrilled to have some young 'uns with her. ;) )

Wow! Just watched Elimination Station. The group went shopping and Joe offended the shop owner when shopping for jewelry for Heidi. I can see why some of the other teams might not have liked him. Joe and Heidi definately don't like the cops now. They know who u-turned them, it was quite obvious. I hope that the cops stay in for awhile. Wouldn't want to be there at ES next week if they come in last.

I'll never understand why they take such matters so personally.

Happens in every show with a U-Turn or Yield (isn't that the one that makes them wait?)

He probably gets mad in Monopoly when another player has both Boardwalk and Parkplace and loads them up with hotels.

So how did his highness offend the shop owner?

If you watch some of the other videos, too, you'll see that Joe's offensive behaviour is mentioned more than once. It seems to be a part of him.

Lisa, at the shop in Mexico, Heidi wanted some silver jewellery. They were "bartering", but, basically, Joe lowballed and wouldn't move. The owner declined his offer, and then Joe went (along the lines of) "We're leaving. Give me my price or we're going." Which would have been fine, if they had been negotiating a price. Heidi's response was, "Well, here we go, and I have no silver." The whole episode gave the idea that Joe has done this before. Kind of like Heidi referring to the fact that she has to "smooth things over" for him all the time. (this from another interview that I watched)

I totally understand taking being U-Turned or Yielded personally. It *is* personal. It is part of the game but it is a direct attack (wrong word, but I can't think of the word I really want) on another team.

only you know that if given the chance they would have U-turned or yielded someone else

it's part of the game and if you haven't watched any of the seasons what on earth are you doing there.

like the women (cant remember her name) who says she didn't sign up for this - really????? didn't you see any of the shows? you can go anywhere, do anything and eat anything - it IS what you signed up for.
