The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

Finally, while I don't think the producers held the plane for J/U, it certainly didn't hurt that they obviously were being followed by a TV crew and they were in the United States.

ok - I'll be the first to admit that I'm a total moron when it comes to geography...I was never good at it when I was younger, I can't name the 50 states...and my coworkers DO tease me about it.

But Puerto Rico is part of the United States?

It is not a State, I believe it is a "territory".

I am the opposite of you, I grew up believing PR was a state! LOL

well I knew it wasn't a STATE...I just didn't know it was 'part of.

Cool - learned something new today - thanks! Sorry I sounded skeptical!

I am not afraid to admit that when Uchenna and Joyce came running around that corner, I was bawling.
I was right there with you and if my DH had walked in I'm sure I'd never hear the end of it!!! :rotfl2:

Mal

My husband came up to watch the end and he wasteasing me like crazy. :)

He asked me if I needed a drink afterward, I was so hyper-stressed. :)

As a matter of fact, DH and I were thinking that an all-star version with "pseudo-celebrities" from other shows would be extremely entertaining.

Like maybe Bill and Hilary Clinton? Could you imagine them begging after coming in last in a non-elimination leg?

Oh, and it was obvious Lynn and Alex STILL weren't over Rob and Amber. Give me a break.......
You want to talk about a ratings bonanza - how about a double wedding, with both Rob and Amber AND Lynn and Alex? Talk about must-see TV...

Did anyone else think that Uchenna and Joyce were having problems getting money at the airport because they are African American?

It's been 27 years since I went to Jamaica, but I remember an impoverished county whose main economy is the tourist trade. Everyone had their hand out for money. People routinely begged at the big tourist spots and you don't dare leave your change on the bar for more than a second or the bartender would scoop it up for a tip. It was a beautiful country, but the people seemed so needy!

When Uchenna and Joyce were first turned down by the Australian (?) tourists I said to my friend who was watching the show with me: "I bet the other teams would get money with no problem." as all the people in line denied their request. It's not clear to me that the foreign visitors made the distinction between 2 black Americans begging and 2 black Jamaicans begging.

I'm glad that they were finally able to collect enough money to win. The deck as really stacked against them (unlike when the other teams were stripped of money) because every clue said "Take a cab to ..." which meant they had to have money for cab fare. As for the Miami cab driver, they were very lucky he spoke Spanish because he asked for the place in Spanish and the name is really in Spanish. They found the place right away.

The ending was nerve wracking! I was shouting "Leave the &*^%$ cab driver and go in!!!" I wonder if they could have given him an IOU at the end. Were they paying him to be nice? Because it was the right thing to do? Or, were they required to pay him exactly what he asked for? I think it ended up to be very close, didn't Rob say "There's Uchenna and Joyce!" as they pulled around the corner? I wonder what TTWSNBN would have done in the same situation ;). Schmoozed the cab driver would be my guess.

Anyway ... good race. Good finish. I can't wait until next season.

Ron and Kelly are just friends. She was embarrassed when they reaired her POW/Commitment clip. Claims they only argued once---Ron disagreed...but that some "arguments" were edited to take out one or two sentences out of an entire conversation.

Rob and Amber acknowledged that there were clearly people that did not like them in the race, but that they also made some friends. And her makeup job wasn't all that bad (in reference to someone saying she wears too much sometimes).

Uchenna and Joyce's doctor offered them a round of in vitro when he/she saw the show--and if that does not work, they will use the money to adopt. And her hair is growing back beautifully---a short do as opposed to the bald look (I would guess about 1-2 inches of growth). Sad to report that was the one thing I was most curious about this morning.

Lisa loves Pooh, I thought the same thing about Joyce's hair! Personally, I think it looks real good short--very sophisticated and professional.

that was me...it was just in some of the 'interviews' during the show last night and the snippet from that Rob and Amber get married show...I dunno...I just think she looks better with no makeup on.

I'm really glad Uchenna and Joyce won, I was rooting for them! Although I didn't care for Rob and Amber to win, I definitely have to agree that Rob played the game well and he was always thinking on his feet. Without Rob I think Amber would have been totally lost, though I did think it was really sweet how Rob was always looking out for her and encouraging her. I was also cringing near the end when Uchenna and Joyce were trying to find cab fare, but I thought it was real honorable of them to want to do the right thing and play fair. I really believe they deserved to win it.

I didn't care for Kelly, I thought she was a real whiner and she was overreacting to Ron a lot. Yes, Ron did get aggravating every now and then but I think there have been many other worse couples.

I am glad that J/U won the race. Never was a fan or Rob, but have to admit that he was very smart on Survivor All-Stars and also on this race. I have to say that I was starting to be a fan of theirs because he played a smart game and the way that they treated each other.

I also thought it was honorable that U/J stayed and made sure that the taxi-driver was paid. Did you hear him say that he will send him a Thank You when the Taxi Driver let them go still owing the $5.00? Wonder if he did indeed do so?

That being said, I found myself being a bit disappointed when the plane came back to allow U/J on. Not so much because I didn't want them to get on the plane, but I sort of felt like it was staged....If R/A were the only ones to get on, there would not have been much of a race at the end...an hour and 15 minutes is a lot of time to try to make up.

An absolutely awesome, incredible ending to The Amazing Race! DW and I were screaming at the TV as U/J were trying to beg for the $ to pay the cabbie. This must be a rule, because I kept thinking why not tell the cabbie you would pay him $10,000 (or whatever) if he could wait just a little bit.

As happy as I am that U/J won, I am equally thrilled that R/A lost. While I do not blame them for going for the million on AR -and I don't necesarrily think they are bad people, but they should not be exempt from criticism or scrutiny because they themselves have chosen to live their lives in the center of the reality TV universe. Ya gets whatcha pays for.

When I saw the promo for "the wedding" I wanted to puke. Wouldn't this fit better over on UPN? I guess we'll see R/A starring on CSI:Boston this fall.

Also, I really like how Uchenna stayed so strong last night. He saw how discouraged Joyce was getting early on, so he knoew he had to eb calm and strong. This is a great foundation of good relationships -being strong for the other when s/he cannot be.

I do agree with you--she looked natural (with makeup) this a.m.

The Survivor Finale (All Stars) when I saw her makeup--my first thought was WHOA! A bit much there.

What an exciting ending!
I really wanted R/A to win but U/J were my second choice.
My kids and I were screaming at the tv when R/A couldnt find that darn cigar shop!
Poor U/J trying to get money to pay that cabbie. If I were U/J I would have told the driver to wait and run into the final pit stop area and said to Meredith and Gretchen "Remember that money I lent you when you came in last place and they took all your cash?? I need it back now!!!!"

U seemed like a great husband, he was so supportive of her when she was crying in the airport when no one would give them money. Most husbands probably would have told her to stop her whinning.

I know some of you dont like R/A, but they seem like a really good match for each other. They also were very supportive of each other (unlike R/K)

Cant wait for the next Race to start!

I'm glad U/J won too....I've never watched Surviror (stop gasping at me lol) but I didn't like R/A either.....as for R/K, I still have mixed feelings for them...but I loved the ending and that was a great show! :bounce:

Scarlett798 -- I read on a another website that Ron and Kelly are not dating and quickly broke up when they returned. She's now seriously dating a minister in SC.

Also, it seems to me that the racers or contestants CAN NOT say "I'm in the Amazing Race show......." Because when Uchenna and Joyce were in Florida begging for money for the taxicab, I would have said to everyone "please please, I'm with the AR show, I need money" and they didn't and I did hear Uchenna saying "we're in a racing contest".

Yes, I agree about the begging of money comment in the Jamacian airport. Uchenna and Joyce probably had a very hard time to get money cuz Jamaica is such a poor poverty country and the tourist are not willing to give out a hand out.

What a great idea! Can you imagine the look on everyone's face if they had acdtually done that. :rotfl:

I had just about counted U/J out last night. DH & I were thrilled when we saw that they had a real chance there at the end! We were freaking out thinking that they would lose because they didn't have enough $$ for the cab fare! So happy for them!!
