The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

Woo Hoo! :Pinkbounc :cool1:
So happy Uchenna and Joyce won!

What a great ending! ::yes::I was jumping up and down screaming in front of the TV, then broke down in tears when they won....my poor dog now thinks I'm nuts  :rotfl2:

With Uchenna being such a nice guy and Joyce having her head shaved, not to mention how much they helped out the others, these two actually deserved it more than the others.....and I am SOOOO thankful they won!

Congrats Uchenna & Joyce!
And may you live happily ever after! :cloud9:

Ditto! I really am so glad Uchenna and Joyce won! They really needed it so much and now they can try to have their baby :cheer2: :cheer2:

Two things I noticed:
1. Someone earlier mentioned that Getchen and Meredith live in Florida, but they were just on our local news as living in Easton, Maryland. They were still so sweet- as always :)

2. Did anyone else notice at the end of the show when they were all hanging around and talking that Gretchen told Kelly 'I'll get your shirts back to you.' How cute to be worried about making sure she got her shirts back that she lent to her.

I'm guessing snowbirds.

WKMG-Orlando had a bit about them following AR tonight.

That's a load of crap! That's not real world... I can't believe they opened it back up just for them.

I agree! I find that very fishy because they would not have had a race to the finish to show. I think the powers that be at TAR fixed that for U &J.

all I can say is if u/j were on the plane and it was closed but reopened for r/a there would be a lot of talk about the producers stepping in. still not sure they didn't.
Naahhh! They'd be saying he as a horseshoe up his you-know-what :teeth:

Great Finale!

FWIW - I once ran to a gate for a connecting flight (along with 3 others who were on the same delayed flight I was on) and the plane was there, door just closed and they were just pulling back the ramp... we begged... we pleaded... one woman cried just a bit... they rolled the ramp back out and let us on... it happens.

And you also had tickets for that flight.

I agree that it doesn't appear to be the norm, but I have a hard time believing CBS would blatantly "fix" the race and then show it on TV. A much easier solution would have been for them to tell the airlines not to let any racers get on the earlier flights. That could be done behind the scenes and never revealed to the racers or on TV. The ticket agents could just say no and no one would be the wiser. This would mean Romber and U/J definitely on the same flight and possibly R/K making it a 3 way run for the finish and very exciting.

Or another explanation could be that they're Americans with a camera crew following them and the flight attendant worked it out for them. Good exposure for AA.

I would be upset if CBS manipulated the game for ANY contestant, but I also think there could be other explanations for what happened. Certainly CBS and the producers had to know when they watched the footage that it would be questionable.

Actually we didn't, we had tickets for an earlier flight (connecting flight was significantly delayed)

This is the first season that I watched The Amazing Race, and I'm not sure if my health can handle watching another one. :bounce:

It seems like every show is an on the edge of your seat kind of thing, and when you are routing for someone to win, that stinks!

I started out routing for Ron and Kelly, then they started talking and I said 'forget them!' Then it was the Lynn and Alex, Uchenna & Joyce, and Meredith and Gretchen. I was so excited that at least one of my teams made it to the final three!

I am not afraid to admit that when Uchenna and Joyce came running around that corner, I was bawling. I don't think I have ever been happier at the ending of a reality TV show since Rupert won that million bucks on the Survivor All-Star final. I'm still getting choked up just thinking about it.

I hope they get their baby and get over any issues they had, and that they live happily ever after.

I am SO happy that U/J won. They were my favorite since week 1. I was so nervous as they were trying to get money at the end of the show.

As much as I dislikee Rob andAmber, they sure played a smart race.

When is the next AR :)

Why would CBS need to "fix" the final 20 minutes of the show. That wouldn't draw in any more viewers at the time. I don't think they needed it to make the race look exciting. They could have done it with editing if only Rob and Amber were on the plane. They cjould have had Rob and Amber still looking for the clue (even if they had lucked up and gone straight to it.) They could have made it look like a long taxi ride and then shown the 2nd plane landing with the other two teams getting in. They also could have not shown what time the 1st plane landed so you didn't know how far ahead R&A were. So I don't think they needed to fix the plane to make it look like a close race. I think it would be too risky for the network to do that.

Great post!

My neighbors probably think I have lost my mind. I spent the last 10 min. of the show pacing back and forth between the living room and the kitchen talking out loud saying, "I can't watch, I can't watch". Then clapping and yelling when U/J won. All the windows in my house were open. And then like some of you I started to cry, I like it when the nice ones win.

The look on Rob's face when U/J got on that plane was priceless.

I agree, but it's much easier for the Romber lovers to get over Rob's second second place finish if they can convince themselves there was an American Airlines ticket agent behind the grassy knoll.

It would be too hard to keep something like that a secret, and to have it leak would really damage the ratings for any future AR. Also, for those who are not regular AR viewers, AR was set to be cancelled after AR4 due to ratings. The only reason it was aired was because it was already filmed. For some reason AR4 got great ratings, and the show now has a firm fan base, just like Survivor. Romber was not necessary for this show, and the ratings are not suddenly going to plummet.

For those of you watching for the first time, I encourage you to keep watching. It's actually a better show (IMO... and that of many people on AR message boards) without the distraction of having pseudo celebrities in the race.

I was going to post that something like this also happened to me in NYC. I am not a celebrity, I did NOT have a ticket for the flight, I had been on a competing airline that the flight got canceled on. The plane had actually already began to move on the tarmac. I was begging and pleading and the airport personnel assiting me called ahead and when I got to the desk they had brought the plane back and made everyone wait. I was so thankful and literally thanked the passengers as I boarded for being patient and understanding (they actually clapped when I boarded the plane) and then just collapsed as I found a seat in the back of the plane.

I admit that it crossed my mind about CBS wanting the plane to wait, but also feel there is just too many other things that could have played a part without them actually "fixing" the ending. I also have to remember that I personally know that planes can and will be held at times, although I'm sure not very often at all.

I happened to be very happy that U/J won. Kelly is from a town over from me and she's all over our local news all the time. She was Miss South Carolina a few years back. I really wanted to see R/K do well in the VERY beginning, but it only took a couple of episodes for me to get over that local connection and the desire to pull for them  !

I can't wait to see them all on the morning show.

This was one of the most exciting seasons ever! I felt like I needed a drink after watching the show. I would have been happy if Rob and Amber or Uchenna and Joyce won. I think Rob played a really smart game. I give major props to Uchenna and Joyce for overcoming all the barriers put in their path. I am very happy for them. I'm relieved Ron and Kelly didn't win. I couldn't stand Ron. I hope Kelly finds someone she is compatible with. I'm writing CBS to give kudos for a great season and to let them know I look forward to upcoming editions of The Amazing Race.

They live half the year in The Villages, FL and half in MD. :flower:

I am SO happy U/J won! I am not a fan of Romber, and would have had the biggest fit if R/K won. Can't wait to see the Early Show today!

Wow! Great show! I now hope that Uchenna and Joyce get their baby (or babies...). I think Uchenna would make SUCH a great father!

You know, I don't believe CBS had anything to do with the plane thing. Sometimes these things happen (sometimes, not...). Plus--it's all in the editing. It appeared that U&J immediately found the cigar shop while R&A took a while longer. In reality they could have been closer together or much farther apart. They always try to make it look like a close call.

Looking forward to next season!

Wow. How did Rob & Amber mess that up? They can't figure out where to go.

Because they didn't have a guide to show them where to go!!!! ;)
