The Amazing Race 6...Official Thread

I hope Rob & Amber are on AR7. I like Rob. I've liked him since Marqueses (sp?). Anywho, they would be only 1 of a bunch of teams, I think it's odd for people who say they LOVE The Amazing Race to say they won't watch it if Rob/Amber are on it. I mean, there are teams that we like/don't like after the show gets going, what does it matter if you know ahead of time that you don't like a team? I don't get it.

well someone else wrote a letter on planet feedback also! The whole thing was just disqusting!

I can not believe what an immature ****** Jonathan is. If my DH ever spoke to me like that or pushed me I would be on the first flight back home. What I find really disturbing is on last week's show (I think), Victoria was saying how much Jonathan wanted to be a father and how great he was with kids. :earseek: That woman needs a good kick in the pants if she brings a baby into the world with that man. Can you imagine what he could do to a baby with that temper. :sad1:

I'm sure I'll still watch if they're on it, but I don't care to see celebrity wanna be's who are there to play to the cameras and further their careers. I want to see real people who are there for the thrill of the race, relationship building, proving something to themselves... I don't have anything against Rob and Amber, but I don't see the need to have couples from another reality show compete on AR. Also, they don't need the money. I think their motivation would be more for the cameras and limelight than really wanting to win the race/prove that they can do it. Each season the racers get more "beautiful" and more extreme - some bordering on psychotic. We all know about Jonathan, but how many times do we have to hear Hellboy ask if he should jump in front of a train? And who really wants to know that his mama still cuts his toenails? Ewww!
And, each season we get more and more aspiring models and actors. I'm not saying they shouldn't let them compete, but I'm hoping for more diverse racers in the future.

I gotcha. I wish there wouldn't be so many model/actor types either. This season is definitley full of them. However, I find the prettiest often end up looking the ugliest in the end (i.e., Kendra).

And you do understand the difference between a boycott and someone not being interested in watching a show, don't you? I'm sure you do but it doesn't seem like it.

Main Entry: boy·cott
Pronunciation: 'boi-"kät
Function: transitive verb
Etymology: Charles C. Boycott died 1897 English land agent in Ireland who was ostracized for refusing to reduce rents
: to engage in a concerted refusal to have dealings with (as a person, store, or organization) usually to express disapproval or to force acceptance of certain conditions
- boycott noun
- boy·cott·er noun

And count me in as a former viewer if Rob and Amber are on AR7.

Sounds like you are refusing to have dealings with AR by not watching it to express your disapproval of this couple should they be 1 of 11 or 12 on the show. Sounds like a boycott to me.

*****

As deadheadbelle pointed out--loving a show and then refusing to watch over one couple...

without actually seeing any episodes doesn't sound like lack of interest but more of personal protest aka boycott.

I think I get it now.

(Sorry couldn't resist the this for that sarcasm that I sensed in your post!)

ITA...

What happened to normal people--I thought AR1 and AR2 were pretty exciting!

I have not posted on this thread yet but after last night I HAD to! This is not the first time he has raised his hand to her although it is the first "contact".

Here's what I am wondering(I think WAY too much! LOL) Obviously, this woman is abused and from what I have seen of him I would not want to be on the receiving side of his anger. So, that got me to thinking "Why would she put herself in a postition that you KNOW is going to be stressful and could lead to anger-which would ultimately end up in some sort of abuse whether it be mental or physical"? Do you think that she wanted this to happen? Maybe this is just the "proof" she has been looking for? Just a thought. He sure would have no arguement now!

I have already been disappointed with AR for putting on pseudo-celebrities lately. Until now (if the Rob/Amber thing is true) they've been virtual unknowns, but still have had their 15 minutes. I guess Alison was pretty well-known, but I didn't watch BB, so I had no clue about her.

I will be VERY upset if this is true about Rob/Amber. They have no business being on the show. They've been on Survivor and they've won. They've had the "experience of a lifetime" and are even richer for doing it. Let someone else have the opportunity.

This isn't the same thing as just not liking a couple. This is taking a great opportunity away from some "regular" person. Models, actors, clowns, NFL wives, Miss Texas, professional wrestlers, movie producers, playboy playmates, past reality/game show winners are not just "regular" people anymore. They've had their chance to "shine". They (most likely) don't need the million bucks. Not that it's all about the money and/or need. But it is about opportunity. Jonathan and Victoria can afford to travel the world and do spectacular things on their own. Granted, probably not as extensive as on AR. So can Rob and Amber. Let the people who keep the show going--the viewers--have their own chance. Why must CBS insist on giving these people 30 minutes of fame.

I dont have a lot of respect for any woman who was hit for the first time and didnt leave that very moment.

That comment is so disturbing.
Not everyone has a place to run to.
Sometimes women may have been hit at home and their partners smack thm to.
No one knows why a perosn stays with an abuser.

My parents were on This Old House--so does this mean I can't play? Should they set income criteria? What should they do? What classifies one as ordinary. It is a show, yes. It is a game, yes. It is not charity. I'm an actor--in community theater..so does that disqualify me if that is what I do? I certainly don't get paid for it. What if someone is CEO of a major corporation and was on the show? Should they be excluded? Where do you draw the line. It is a show and they are casting--the money is just the incentive for these people to behave like their true selves when cash is on the line.

While I do agree that millionaire Amber shouldn't be on the show...I didn't have a problem with the NFL wives (they weren't exactly promoting their hubbies on the show). I have good friend who is a former NFL wife...(he's no longer playing, they are still married) and they are good friends with Emmitt Smith (they both played for the Gators in college)...I see nothing in her lifestyle today that says she should automatically be excluded. Not all players are in the multi-million dollar contracts. Now if we started seeing the spouses of some of those contract players--then I would be a little bit upset! I actually have no problems except with the ever recurrence of models (you have got to admit though it is funny to see how daft they are which is why I think they get cast!) and people like J & V. But that is just me.

Sidenote: I did see curly hair boy from last season in a Target print ad recently.

http://www.planetfeedback.com/consumer/

How does PlanetFeedback work?
You come to us with consumer feedback that you want to give -- a complaint, a compliment, a question or a suggestion. We gather some information from you, such as what company you dealt with, what kind of feedback you want to give, and how strong your feelings are. Based on your answers, we give you an appropriate business letter which you can then edit however you want. Once you review and approve it, we get it to the best contact at the company by e-mail, fax or snail mail.

If your letter is sent by us, we also give you the option of sending a copy of it to other people, including friends, family members, and elected officials. Sending your letter to others increases your influence, since companies realize that you're spreading the word about their products and services. As with all other PlanetFeedback services, you get to decide whether you want to do that or not.

If your company's contact information is not in our database, you get a professional-looking business letter to print and send by mail.

basicly it is a tool to get your letter of complaint, comment, or compliment to the right place and done properly. It works very well in my opinion. This was my first letter but I have seen it work for many people.

From Merriam Webster:
Main Entry: con·cert·ed
Pronunciation: k&n-'s&r-t&d
Function: adjective
1 a : mutually contrived or agreed on <a concerted effort> b : performed in unison <concerted artillery fire>

Doesn't sound like a concerted refusal to me. Therefore if I choose to watch "House" instead of AR7, I'm not boycotting anything.

Or... you're boycotting "House," and how dare you do that. You're risking a patient's life!!!

And re J & V: Did you notice the nuclear meltdown she had on the way to the finish line? Good Lord! I'm not mentioning this to excuse J's behavior (no way!), just to point out that they're both pretty completely disfunctional.

Nuclear meltdown - are you kidding me?? You consider her *nuclear* because her no good excuse of a husband left her to deal with BOTH backpacks, when she has said more than once that hers is already heavier than his is to begin with?? If it were me, I would have just stopped right then and there - and said "I'M DONE, NO MORE I AM PUTTING UP WITH THIS FROM YOU".........But..........like a trooper she kept going, and for what - to have her no good excuse of a husband shove her?? UNBELIEVABLE...........

GO JON & KRIS!!!!

Gotta love Gus!! He definately had way too much fun on the beer roadblock! *That sure was good beer*

Kendra really disgusted me too - with her *this place is so disgusting, it smells so bad, and they just keep breeding and breeding - all while they are in the cab* Be gone my pretty - you don't deserve this game!

GO JON & KRIS!!!!

I do like Gus & Hera too!

Brandon? The one that wouldn't cut his hair for the fast forward?
(I was laughing so hard at the thought of him cutting it)

I bet CBS will try to put a positive spin on the whole Jonathan thing. When they are eliminated (hopefully soon), Jonathan will go around saying how shocked he was when he saw his behavior on tv and he decided to get some therapy or anger management. I'd put money on it.

I just can't imagine what living with someone like Jonathan would be like.:(

My theory as to why they might be showing what goes on between J & V instead of editing it out... J won't change. It's less than halfway through the race and he has almost hit V on a couple of occasions, yelled at her in every episode, and finally lashed out physically last night. The most stressful part of the race is yet to come. I'm willing to bet that he eventually does hit her at some point in the race and they are tossed. The producers probably decided to show us what led to the tossing instead of hiding the reason and having fansites everywhere speculating. As I said, it's just a theory. If it's for ratings, then I will be sending them an e-mail once J & V are eliminated.

I may have missed this but has anyone checked out the "forums" on http://www.jonathanbakerandvictoriafuller.com/ website?

I read a bunch of very negative posts there this morning, and tonight they are all gone. They have a forum specifically titled "hate mail" but delete I'm guessing 90% of what's posted so no sense bothering.

That's a very good point. You may be on to something.
