The Amazing Race 6...Official Thread

That website is disturbing. Did anyone else notice that nearly ALL of the gallery pictures were of Jonathan? Also, don't you all just love his "sexy" poses?! Yum, yum! NOT!!!

Oh, and "Jon" had a "roll" in John Travolta's upcoming film. I wonder if he put butter on that roll! LMAO!!

I read that as Travolta had a role in Jonathen's film...

Jonathan and Travolta

Dec 8 2004 Jonathan as John's guest at the premier of the movie Bobby Long. John will have a small roll in Jonathan's next movie.

What is TPTB?

Guess what - they updated their webpage today. I won't post the comment here since it includes vulgarity. He's a real class act.

Very interesting that quote--"those who lead lead, those who follow follow--BLEEPED--we are playing a GAME for a million dollars."

Did someone mention to Jonathen that coming in first on any leg but the last one does not mean you will WIN? I'm sure if it was the last leg Victoria would have cared less about the bags and the passports and the pocket change.

I'd LOVE to be in one of his movies--I'm sure he makes all his production workers and the actors and actresses feel like a million bucks when he's shooting his B-Movies  .

Also about the comments that Kendra was making (I cant keep up with the names so I hope it is her) about how "they just keep breeding and breeding" and how she said that right in front of the cab driver, that was just so rude and un called for.

ITA! I couldn't believe those words came out of her mouth. Maybe she should find herself a good volunteer or relief mission and get involved to make a difference but she just doesn't seem like that type of person. I can't believe I'm still upset about it this morning!

Jonathan! For the first time I'm seriously considering writing into CBS about the casting for this race. Last year was bad enough with Colin but now it seems they are out to get a more irritating and controversial guy every season. Like someone has said, I don't want this turning into a Jerry Springer show!

I'm sorry to see MJ and Don go because they seem like really great people and we need people like that in the race. Hayden and Aaron are my favorite team now.

Someone posted back that we will keep watching the AR no matter what- is horrible. I am still so upset with the AR.

The AR was or is my favorite show, but I feel like if I don't take a stand and e-mail or stop watching the show, I am approving Jonathan's behavior. What he did was wrong. I don't care that he had good moments, or gave money away or said funny statements. He is an emotional, verbal and physical abuser. I'm sorry, but I will not condone his behavior any longer and I will e-mail cbs and be a very small grain in the sand and tell them I am one less viewer.

I'm actually seriously considering the same thing. AR is my favorite show. However, I can't condone what I saw last night. I woke up still thinking about it. If I watch this show now, am I supporting domestic violence as entertainment? The more I think about it, the more I think that I just watched AR6 for the last time.

Everything that has been said up to this date by everyone is on mark. I agree with most of the post, but I bet, no matter how you feel, you will be checking in next week to see how things turn out. Does the screaming and hitting go on, are inappropriate comments made by some of the teams. Admit it, you are enjoying the show, and you will continue to watch until the race is finished. :moped:

Actually, I haven't decided if I'll continue to watch. It definitely won't be b/c I want to see what what J and V do next. I am totally disgusted with them and with CBS' decision to air his abuse of her. In fact, I emailed CBS to let them know how disappointed and disgusted I am.

I don't want to see any more screaming or hitting and I don't want to see him be nice, either. I am concerned that they'll just keep showing him until he does something even more disturbing and I don't want to see it. I don't care what the other racers have to say either.

I do enjoy the show in general, but he is ruining it for me to the point that I may just stop watching until next season. I don't have to 'admit' how intrigued by him that I am. If I continue to watch, it will because of the others and in spite of him.

I decided that I could not watch AR6 in good concience anymore. Here is what I just emailed CBS. I agree that others who feel the same should also email them:

To CBS Television,
I have never written a letter to a TV network before. The Amazing Race has been my favorite show ever since you aired AR2. I just love it! However, last night you lost me as a viewer for the remainder of AR6. I felt physically ill when you aired the clip of Jonathan shoving his wife. This woman is clearly an abuse victim, and you are airing that as entertainment. That is sickening. I will not tune in next week to see what else this abuser does to his wife. It's not intruiging or entertaining. It's domestic violence.

I don't know whether or not Jonathan will be spoken to on a future show, but it doesn't matter. He should have been called on it IMMEDIATELY when he got physical with his wife on TV.

This woman is being abused. You are using that to get ratings. That needs to stop before I can watch The Amazing Race again. I may be just one viewer, but I need to take a stand and say that this is not OK.

Sincerely,
(my name)

J&V's website also has a contact form. I encourage everyone to email them and tell Jonathon what a 'winner' he is.

Lost in all the brilliant comments last night was DOn and MJ's graceful departure. They were one of the few fun couples to watch and added a little decency to a program overwhelmed by idiots like Kendra and Jonathon. They will sorely be missed.

That is a great e-mail. CBS needs to know how upsetting this is to veiwers. But, I will still watch.

AR IS my favorite reality show. I countdown until Tuesday nights to watch it.DO I enjoy Jonathoan and Vicotria? NO. Do I watch just to see what he will do to her next? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I watch, because as of right now, there are 5 other teams. Some more colorful than others, but it is the race I watch.

Is it fair to the other teams for us to stop watching? I can only hope J & V go home ASAP. I want another team to yield them, and then have them come in last.

Here is where I would feel different and probably STOP watching AR. I would e-mail CBS and stop watching if the race was being run live each week. IF CBS could get e-mails and letters from veiwers, and then go and pull them from the race. But the race was run months ago. Everything Jonathan did has been done, and CBS cannot "talk" to him about his behavior. I only hope they DID step in when they could.

Jonathan's behavior disturbs me, I do not enjoy watching HIM, but I will continue to watch my favorite show, and hope the back-lash CBS gets from us will be enough for them to step back and reconsider the type of "drama" they want for future shows.

I completely agree with everyone that Jonathon is dispicable. How he can treat her like that is just beyond comprehension. That being said last night was an amazing show. It showed some amazing grace and honor!

The Slave House... Jon and Kris said a prayer. I was very moved by that, as well as when Gus and Herra were crying and did anyone else notice that Don was crying as well. I had tears in my eyes from that scene it was amazing.

The cab ride...
Gus and Herra offer to PAY 1/2 of the cab fare if they could follow Kris and Jon. they didn't have to offer, they could have just followed. What a class act. Also same 2 pairs... when they got to the end both sets of teams were at the pit stop at the same time. Gus told Kris and Jon to go ahead since they (Gus and Herra) followed them. CLASS ACT!!!!!

Don and MJ out of money.... what a class act from Don, he wouldn't consider asking the people in the community for $ because he felt it unfair to ask someone who has so much less than them. Instead they asked other contestants. I found that very honorable and they will forever be one of my favorite teams from AR!

Go KRIS AND JON and GUS and HERRA! My favorites!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

It was Victoria's crying, when she was carrying the backpacks, that bothered me the most. And I was fine with Jonathan until he pushed her. I had to turn the channel it disturbed me so much. And what is with whimpy Jonathan? Asking someone to watch his pack for him? His wife was ahead of him at first, carrying her own pack. He needs to go.

That was nice of the teams to give Don and MJ money.
Gus was too funny with the beer.
Kendra needs to get a clue!

No--but they can re-edit to not show as much drama from it--granted, for last night--we would be wondering why he shoved her before getting on the mat (though we would probably figure it out). They can air a disclaimer or something that to at least say they do not endorse the behavior. But they aren't even doing that.

I wrote my e-mail--but I had a hard time writing it b/c I still intend to watch. I basically asked WHY this was allowed to happen. Hopefully someone will respond to my inquiry.

ITA--at least some good manners is being shown to offset some really really bad manners (read ABUSE!)

As for Don and MJ--I didn't even know it was an option to ask other players--I am most impressed that it appeared that everyone gave them some money. Very cool!

I've sent my letter....

I am an avid fan of the Amazing Race. What I have seen this season is a serious decline in the overall quality of the show. AR has always been fun and interesting to watch as I get to see so many beautiful places and interesting cultures. This season has taken a turn toward sensationalism and the show has lost it's focus completely. Rather than being a show about a race around the world it has become a Jerry Springer episode where physical abuse is tolerated and bigotry is celebrated. I am extremely disappointed in the shows producers, host and the network as a whole. This is trash TV at it's worst and is no longer interesting to our household. We will not be watching AR6 anymore and hope that you will take a serious look at the succes of the first 5 seasons and consider a return to focusing on the race, not the wife beaters and hate mongers.

In addition, I think Johnathan should have been removed from the show completely after using his wife as a punching bag. That type of behavior does not need any promotion on television or otherwise and I sincerely hope that a rule is instituted that should a contestant become physical with another contestant or their own partner they would be disqualified immediately. This is not good TV, it is a sad testament to the ills of society as a whole.

Phew-I feel better now. I'm truly sad that it has come to this. I hope they get enough negative feedback to do something about it.

You know what I have noticed? That these shows start out with regular people (hence the "reality") but the more popular it gets, the more "Hollywood" it gets.

Look at Survivor, does anyone who is not an aspiring actor/model and does not have fake ****s have a chance in hell of getting on that show?

Now with the Amazing Race. Every team with the exception of the two LIKEABLE teams, (Gus/Hera. Don/Mary Jean) are models, actors, professional wrestlers, movie producer.

Bring BACK teams like Kevin and Drew. Frank and Marguerita, even Team Guido!

Jonathan and Victoria have no right being in this race, IMO. They are millioniares already! He is a movie producer for crying out loud!

I remember the rules of Survivor in the first few season was you could NOT have a SAG card. I think ALL reality shows need to re-establish that rule. There also used to be a rule that you could not have appeared on another reality show in the past year of when you were applying, obviously, they forgave that rule to allow Alison and Donny on AR5 soon after BB finished. Hmmmmmm.

WE WANT REGULAR PLAIN OLD PEOPLE ON THESE SHOWS. If we wanted to watch actors, we would tune into to typical programming.

I'm going to wait and see what develops before I totally condemn TAR. I like the show too much plus the show struggled too much in the beginning for me to walk away just yet. Hopefully, this mess will be resolved in some manner.

Ewwwww I just looked at their website & it's creepy. I really hate to judge other people, but that isn't a healthy relationship there.

It's disgusting how many pathetic people are on the show this year.

WTH did Kendra even sign up? She's only had derogatory comments about anyone and everyone she has come in contact with. She should just to home and get back in her bubble.

Jonathan? Well, I won't even waste words disgussing him.

I did note the look of disgust on Phil when they checked in and then he said "Jonathan, I think you should go speak with your wife."

This show has really gone down in quality.
